it's all a question of hype. about how people perceive him. unfortunately very few people care for anything other than what they see/read in the media and very few manage to be unbiased.
take Karim Benzema: if he was english, he would be far more hyped than Rooney (which in this particular case is actually deserved). yet he is french. because of that, most english "fans" will say "Karim who?" |

i would say he is a very good player, but when he was at Barca, i didn't like him at all, and thought he was slightly over-rated

bah. I was expecting more of you Addy.
for you see...Quaresma is the very definition of the hyping that I talked about in my earlier post.
The guy's mindset is all screwed up. He doesn't understand the fact that, skills are only useful and appreciated when they LEAD to something. Because if you don't deliver the crosses or passes that lead to goals and assists, you don't get points no matter how many nutmegs or step-overs you do and no matter how much you entertain the crowd with your fancy slick flairish movies. But he probably thinks, you get points and your team gets to win if you keep doing nutmegs that are pointless.
Part of the problem with him is that he was one of those frustrating players to watch where he was a brilliant extraordinary dribbler (technical guy) but not so much end product (avg passing/crossing/finishing) and worst of all the type of player I hate in form of being lazy/not coming back to defend which is a real disadvantage to a team especially when they play you as SMF and when you play as SMF you DO have some defensive responsibilities in modern football but Quaresma never understood this and rarel comes back to defend and was also a selfish player who'd get ball and start dribbling and all in all not much of a teamplayer it's safe to say.
He's got outstanding talent, technique and potential but is far from being a world-class player at the moment. He's got a lot to learn and until he loses his cocky, self-centered attitude (which comes sadly in a package with the wonderful skills he's got in Mr. Quaresma), he'll never be able to become a good team-player and that'll hold him back from fulfilling his potential and becoming world-class and playing for the world's biggest clubs , such as
Barça (and NOT Barca )a where he used to be, without his managers becoming frustrated with him.
He's got the talent to become one of the world's very best players and that talent has been evident all the way from when he was 17. But will he become that? I personally think, not. Because he's unwilling to improve his weaknesses and only wants to concentrate on his strengths and show off his skills in every match (Even at wrong times and on wrong parts of the pitch) as if football is a circus. He entertains fans like no other. But can equally frustrate his managers and any real genuine football fan watching the game, as he simply wants to do EVERYTHING with flair and makes plenty of bad decisions.
When a simple short easy pass is required to a team-mate, he'll often avoid doing that and instead try some outrageous, unnecessary, skillful looking move just to make some casual fans watching him in the stadium or on TV, go "WOwwwww this guy is good."
When he mentally grows up and realizes, football is a team sport and he's no more important than any other player on the park, he'll perhaps start helping the team more rather than thinking about himself and fancy moves most of the time and also start making better decisions which is KEY to becoming a great player and no world-class player out there has bad decision making.
so, in conclusion: hopefully some poor sap of a club will come over and take him off our hands for a huge amount so we can make a profit before his stock lowers as the majority of fans (those who see dribbles and goals and nothing more) realise that he'll never become top class.
EDIT: sorry about the rant, but that's what Quaresma provokes in people. brilliant one moment. frustrating the next 4 or 5...
