I'm pretty unexperienced in this kind of situations, I didn't know wether to attack or not, I wanted to show the jersey for the world! But I waited, no attack this time, and that was a good decision, because Menchov got caught pretty fast.
Just stay calm and defend the pink...
Good stage. |

Giro d'Italia
Stage 6
After two mountain stages, it's time for some hills before we finish the first part of this years Giro with the Milano Show.
Todays breakaway.
World champion Alessandro Ballan tried something with about 60 km to go.
This was a tough stage for me because I didn't have any teammate to help me in the pack. So I needed to get my water all by myself.
In the end Jurgen Van den Brouck attacked!
I wanted to save my energy on this stage, so I didn't follow his attack.
Van den Brouck got a gap and when the sprint started he was the man in front!
But it was really close at the line, but Jurgen took the win ahead of Francesco Ginanni and Maxime Monfort.
A realxing day for me, even though I didn't have any support from my teammates. I finished in the pack and I kept the jersey for another day.
There were no changes in the GC.

You should put a teammate in break then when you catch him he probaly can help you if you dont use him to much

Maybe, but Böchman is good enough to help Gustav. I don't know why he couldn't follow today..

Giro d'Italia
Stage 7
Classed as hilly, but I'm not sure if riders like Kirchen will be the best today.
Jure Kocjan tried to win by a solo break today.
But it failed as expected. So Nocentini, Nuyens, Ivanov and others tried something with 70 km to go.
Only Ivanov could creat a gap, and he fought well at the front.
Disaster for Rabobank! Menchov is down!
More riders went down as well.
But luckily I didn't fall, at the same time, Ivanov got caught by the pack. I was waiting for the right moment to do a surprise attack!
After som kms I felt that it was now or never, so I upped the pace.
I got a small gap and had the lead when the sprint started!
1km left and I'm still in the lead, will this crazy attack work out?
YES! Another win, and this time in la Maglia Rosa!
Also a surprising 2nd today, David De la Fuente!

A great win from my side, and I even won useful seconds to Kirchen. I will probably need them in the mountains!

Nice win, and another day in pink! You can probably keep la Maglia Rosa a few week... or two
You have good chance for cyclamen too. |
