Since there's so many danish people here, they might find this interesting:
Interview with Dan Frost (DS at Team Saxo Bank). He stated that 7 of the 9 riders for the Giro are already decided
Lars Bak
Lasse Bøchman
Jakob Fuglsang
JJ Haedo
Nicki Sørensen
Jürgen Van Goolen (GC leader)
Jens Voigt

My ass if Bak, Bøchman and Sørensen is gonna complete the race. Lars Bak is generally useless. Bøchman is too young and Nicki Sørensen will have yet another knee related injury.

I'm surprised that they choosed to let Jakob Fuglsang ride a GT so fast, personally I thought that they was gonna let him get some more km in his legs, and then use him in the Vuelta. And then I'll be looking forward to see what Bøchman can do, he has way more potential than he has shown so far.

Well Fuglsang was pretty good in Paris Nice and Saxo has always let some young guys ride the Giro. Im more surprised about Haedo, the mountains may be tough for him.

Bak had been promised a Grand Tour start in pre-season. He did quite well on the major climbs of the 2007 Vuelta, his first grand tour. And Riis has said on more than one occasion that in retrospect, Bak should've been in the 2008 Tour squad instead of Sörensen.

yeah....and there's also a 2 year prison sentence. 6 months is only the bare minimum allowed

Tom Boonen has given his personal view on the World Championships in Mendrisio 2009. He is very optimistic and claims it will not be as hard as in Varese.
You wish, Tom. |

Indeed, that's being optimistic to the point of being irrealistic. Probably had a shitload of coke before he said that.
The first climb is 1,1km at 10%, with the last 300 meters at 19%
The second climb is 2km at 6%, with the first 500 meters at 10%
Now, Boonen might think, this is not much different then the Koppenberg or the Kapelmuur. But, the difference is, it's not cobbled, and his main opponents won't be Cancellara, Ballan and Burghardt, but Valverde, Rebellin and Fränk Schleck...and if he think he can follow them on those hills...well, good luck to him
Besides, after the 2nd climb, there is only a part of 300 meters downhill at 4%, the rest of the 2,5km after the final hill are flat. So he has no point to recover.
The race is similar to Stuttgart, and there sprinters had no chance. |

how long is the circuit cause it sounds like there is a vicious downhill between the 2 climbs
