Stage 3
Today it's a typical sprinters stage.
The break: Hulsmans, Arrieta, Grabsch and Kunitksi.
But they were caught with 45 km to the line. In the sprint Danilo Napolitano were the best sprinter and he took his first stage win in this years Giro d'Italia!

It's time for the first mountain stage! But the stage is not so tough so hopefully Rujano wont lose to much time.
Todays break: Palumbo and Piil with Lund chasing them.
They were caught with 40 km left of the stage. Rujano were feeling great, (+5). At the start of the mountain, Danilo Di Luca attacked!
Rujano countered but he got caught pretty fast. Di Luca were now leading with 45 seconds over Savoldelli and Caucchioli, while they had a gap of 45 seconds on the pack. then Garzelli, Simoni and Cunego attacked!
With 5km to the line, this were the situation:
E1 - Di Luca
E2 - Simoni, Caucchioli and Savoldelli, +1,06
E3 - Garzelli, +1,32
E4 - Cunego, +1,49
E5 - Peleton (Rujano), +2,00
   
1. Di Luca 2. Simoni, Savoldelli and Caucchioli 3. Garzelli 4. Peleton
Cunego got caught with 3 km left. Di Luca won the stage easy!
Simoni led the next group over the line.
And then it was time for the pack and Rujano.
Di Luca took over the lead in the GC. Rujano is 12th, +4,05.

Back to the sprints now. Todays break: 10 riders, the most threatening rider is Serge Baguet, +6,51 in the GC.
With 12 km left of the stage, Baguet had a lead of 1 minute.
But he were reeled in with 8 km to go. With 1 km to go, Robbie McEwen led pretty clear.
And he held on to take the win today!
Rujano finished in the peleton.
There where no changes in the GC.

Todays stage got 3 mountains but it's still classified as a sprint stage.
Oroz started the attacks today and André Steensen countered!
But the group of attackers got caught. Instead Horrilo and Mandri created a break today.
After a while Oroz attacks again and 5 other riders counters.
3 of them joins the front group, Padrnos, Oroz and Geslin.
Horillo drops off early in the first mountain. Then Oroz and after him Padrnos drops off. After a while Mandri gives up too.
Geslin wins the first KOM sprint and the second. But before the last mountain everyone is caught. After the mountain many sprinters are still left in the pack but they're tired. With 1 km left Cunego leads.
And he wins!
Rujano finished safely in the peleton.

A sprinters stage today, but with a sharp hill close to the finish.
Todays break consisted of 10 riders, no one could take over la Maglia Rosa.
When the hill started they had a gap of 2 minutes over the pack. But they got caught. A stargroup got a big gap over the hill but Rujano wasn't in it.
The stargroup held on to take the win and Paolo Bettini were the fastest today.
Rujano finished in the peleton and is now 17th in the GC, +6,19.

Today there were no break, until with 70 km left. Then Koldo Gil, Ivan Parra and Servais Knaven got away. Knaven couldn't follow his breakawaycompanions.
With 10 km left of the stage, the gap were still around a minute.
But they got reeled in with 5 km left. When the sprint started Gasparotto had a big lead over the othe sprinters early. There were no real train.
But Gasparotto faded and Hushovd led pretty clear with 1 km to go.
And the Norwegian won the stage today!

It's time for some mountains again, and Rujano surely must do something here if he wants to get a top 10 spot in the GC.
Todays break: Kern, Velo, Bak, Fernandez, Cherel, Cavallari, Pinotti.
But they were caught as expected, with 35 km to go. When the mountain started, Di Luca attacked directly, together with Oscar Pereiro.
Many riders countered, but they could only create a chase group. Pereiro also joined that group so from now on, Di Luca will ride solo.
1. Di Luca 2. Cunego, Pereiro, Simoni.
Rujano got a small gap ahead of the peleton but was quickly caught. Up at the front Di Luca takes an easy win!
Simoni wins the sprint for 2nd, but it's tight. Pereiro finishes 4th.
Caucchioli finishes 5th, Savoldelli 6th, Cioni 7th while Weening takes the 8th spot.
Rujano finishes in the peleton.
