Now, I'm in 2012. Just before the Giro. The sponsors wany me to:
Win Paris - Nice
Top 3 in Volta a Catalunya (or something)
Win the Giro
Top 3 in the PT-race during the Giro. Vuelta al pais Vasco? O.o
Win the Tour.
High demands? With riders like Valverde, Evans and F. Schleck, and some Norwegians that turned out to be good, I don't think so... Unless Pardilla or Contador participates..
BTW: Klöden has started losing stats. D=
I like the Vuelta, its a good race to target if you need Pro Tour points!
I think you'll be fine for your season goals with the riders you've got - good luck though
Team Columbia update - Season 3
A somewhat disappointing Ardennes series for Kirchen, with a third place in the Fleche Wallone his only podium. He managed top ten finishes in the LBL and Amstel gold Race. Meanwhile, Valverde (still riding for Caisse) won the Amstel and Fleche, and Cunego (still in Lampre colours) won the LBL.
Ballan is currently top of the PT, after winning the Milan San Remo and getting good results on the cobbles (a win, a podium and a top ten I seem to recall!).
Currently racing the Tour of Romandie in preparation for Ricco and Devine riding the Giro...

Big signings in the off-season included Popovych, Zabriskie and Voeckler. Already, we have re-signed all of the riders through 2011, with the exception of Ricco, who we will release at the end of the season (he doesn't know that yet though! shhhh! )
Team Columbia Season 3
Ahh the dilemma! As I noted above, I was planning to get rid of Ricco at the end of the year when his contract comes to an end. The reason for this is that I've had to pay some of my other riders a lot more to stay with the team e.g. Pardilla was originally signed as a luxury teammate on 12,000 a month, and now wants to be an absolute leader on 60k a month.
I wasn't bothered about letting him go to be honest, but he has just won the Giro! Although he was a couple of minutes down on the leader (Dekker) by the midpoint of the race, after 2 flat time trials and no mountain stages, he gradually clawed back time in the mountains (I had his fitness up to 99 for the last week of the race) supported by John Devine (who finished 5th), and then romped to victory by over 2 minutes in an uphill finish on stage 17 to take the lead. After that it was just a matter of hanging on in the final time trial (which he did) and the victory was sealed. Evans finished 2nd and Dekker 3rd.
So now I don't know what to do......should I re-sign him or not? Will my budget stretch for next season? Can I really afford to lose a GT winner?

Well, it looks like you already have On whether or not you should re-sign him, it's up to you, but it would be annoying to have to sign him again considering the circumstances. To be honest it should all depend on the rider's stats and potential rather than what they have achieved.

I play a career with a custom-made team. That team started with just Norwegians, and the best rider with 68 in average. After a few years, the young Norwegians got better, and I got a promotion. Then, I signed Valverde, Klöden and Evans to help me in the three GTs. Klöden won the Giro, Valverde got 2nd in the Tour, with Sangnes on 3rd. Sangnes is one of the Norwegians I started with. Evans won the Vuelta, I think. In PCM, who cares about the Vuelta anyways (except spanish/portuguese teams)?

Update on my team:
Got one rider riding all three GTs. He finished 2nd in all of them, and a top 10 in one of the three last PT-races, he managed to get a 2nd in the PT-ranking, beating Basso by 10 points.
Valverde won the Vuelta. And did well in the classics. Schleck got a 9th in the Giro. And if I remember correctly, I got a 1-2-3 in the GC in the Tour. Evans won.

In some way, it's a shame that you didn't stick to your Norwegian rider philosophy.

I know, and I doubt I will sign him for another season, I'll probably just keep Kirchen, Pardilla, Devine and Gerdemann as my main riders, with Popovych, Rogers and Lovqvist as the second stringers.......Actually, when I write it down it looks like a stupidly strong squad anyway!

You haven't seen my team. I have 8 from outside Norway. The remaining 21 are Norwegians. And having a Norwegian finish 2nd in all three GTs in the same year. That's something. And when Evans and Valverde gets worse, I free them after the season. F. Schleck sucks, actually. At least as a GT-rider.
I also got 8 riders with 78+
Or was it 80+?
I post a screenshot here, some time. =)
Edit: Here are my team. Riders like Arvesen, Evans and Valverde has reached their max stats. Hushovd are over the peak.
Well after getting promoted in my first season with a young Thorn Power team, unfortunately I was left displeased by my ProTour budget. I became frustrated and (luckilly?) signed Contador, Pozzato and Haussler for 2009. Problem is, i'm now estimating a minus budget for around June 2009, maybe even as close as May.
Almost all of the young Germans I had for my first season have hit their max stats. Especially the sprinters who fizzled out into only SP70s (Kluin/Hoss) with no remaining stars. The best time triallist I may get could be a mid 70 if im lucky and for climbing I could train one of them to around 74 at best (Hurbig/Frahn).
My best success is Massimo Iannetti. Advice to newcomers, SIGN HIM UP ON A FREE AT THE START!!! turned from 65MO to 78MO in 14 months, no training camps. Also had a 60TT and is now 72TT, with 4 potential stars remaining (could easily reach high 70s). With a training camp pre-Giro, he could feature highly in that race.
I signed some crap youngsters (getting used to the pcm08 way), though did manage to grab 1 rider with some potential in the sprints, I reckon at best he could be SP77.
So far in 2009, Haussler came 2nd in Australia, Iannetti 2nd in Tirreno-Adriatico and Pozzato won Milan San Remo (a much needed cash injection). Plenty of stage wins throughout the races.
QUESTION: IF I RUN OUT OF BUDGET, WILL I BE BLOCKED FROM RACING CONTADOR IN LE TOUR AND THE VUELTA??? (if the game had a brain, it would notice I could sell him for 6 million plus at the end of the year and get all the money back...)
