I thought the exact same thing. A little unrealistic but it is still funny.

Not at all - loads of Himalayn passes go above 5,000m
in contrast Everest is over 8,000

Oh so you only climbed up it? (Btw, the Everest climbing season is in April and May, so also unrealistic, but hey - who cares)

It is still really funny that he climbed Everest.
A great plot twist would be if he fell off the mountain and he was in a Coma and his brother slept with his girlfriend. Oh ... that is a soap opera.

A mysterious caller and a surprise signature
2 days ago I got a mysterious phone call:
Hello. Who is it please?
Is this Yukihiro Doi?
Yes. Who is th...
Prove it.
What....er......how?
What is your personal security number?
Why should I tell you that?
Is it 147398521?
Eeeh... what the.....how the hell did you know that?
How many times did you use the toilet yesterday?
5 times.
Yes, you are the real Yukihiro Doi.
How do you know all that?
No time to ask now. End this call and return to your house. The car next to you is bugged.
How do you..
Sneak out the back of your house and meet us at 127, Kikuyushi Avenue, Nagoya.
Why?
The reciever went dead.
I turned round and walked slowly to my house, so as not to attract attention, with my heart beating fast than at the top of the Galibier.
What was I to do? |

When I regained a sense of normality I managed to persuade myself that it was just some teenagers playing a hoax on me.
But those thoughts were banished from my mind after the next time my phone rang.
Hello?
It's us again.
Who?
Why didn't you meet with us?
I didn't think... I didn't know
Don't worry now. I must make my requests clear.
What requests?
I work for the Russian Government in their secret department. We believe that the Yellow Jersey, "maillot jaune" if you like, holds special powers. It is prophecised in an ancient manuscript that the 96th winner, 2009, will recieve a jersey, fit with special powers. Jesus Christ will fight on your side in any war you wish. We could use this power to bring back communism, stronger than ever. We want to build a team to win it. We could easily bully the French Government into giving us a Tour berth through oil threats. You would be the leader we build our team around. Aswell as a ridiculously large cash sum you, along with your team-mates will be spared. What do you think?
Do we have a deal?
I need time to mull this over.
OK. When you have made your decision contact me at this number. 01564 772344.
I put the phone down, dazed, scared and ultimately confused. It was then that I signed for Bouyges. |

Bouyges 2009
I signed for Bouyges on the basis that I would have a shot at team leader in the mountains. Bouyges agreed that they would build a Tour team around me, if I could prove myself in the Tour build-up races.
So I signed on the dotted line, joining a team filled with talent, especially Ardennes challenger Yuri Trofimov. Gilberto Simoni and Julio Alberto Perez Cuapio were signed on the back of my arrival to support me. It adds more pressure but also gives me more confidence; this time last year I was in awe of Gibo and know he's riding for me.
My first race will be Paris-Nice, in build up to the Tour de France, my season goal.

Paris-Nice 2009 Stage 1
My season debut is at Paris-Nice. I came 9th in the race last year, but that was on the back of some good form, as I had planned an early season peak. However, this year I arrive without a racing mile in my legs and little serious training either. I don't expect much from this race and have been given a free role. Yuri Trofimov is our leader and I may help him if he has a solid chance of victory on the Promenade d'Anglais.
The race started with a 6km prologue blast around Evry, a suburb of Paris.
I held no hopes of victory today, but still decided to test my form. I finished 71st, 32 seconds in arrears. I failed to grab a picture of me.
One man who had a real shot at the GC of this race, as he built up form for the hilly classics, was Alejandro Valverde. He wouldn't want to lose much time today.
And he didn't, performing well above expectations to finish in tenth at 10 seconds, the best of the overall contenders.
Tommeke, Tornado Tom, whatever you want to call him, the man is simply a great rider. Time-trialling isn't his forte, though, so he wouldnt be too worried about his results today. His season aim is the cobbled classics at the start of April so he shouldnt be overly worried about finishing 102nd.
The early, surprise leader was Juan Jose Cobo Acebo. He looked like he would hold it to the finish, until a true monster of time-trialling rolled onto the starting ramp. Fabian "The Swissassin" Cancellara was in the zone.
He stormed around the course shaving 2 seconds of the previous leaders time to take the stage and numerous jerseys.
Our team's best result was leader Yuri Trofimov's 21st. It sets him up for a crack at the Paris Nice title.

Paris-Nice 2009 Stage 3
A crisp morning dawned in Vichy, the start of the 3rd stage of Paris-Nice 2009. I was calm, knowing I didn't have to perform. I wanted to test my legs in the hills though, so I would try and stay with the leaders.
A large breakaway group went away in the picturesque foothills of the Massif Central. They quicly built up a lead through the hills, despite a harsh pace set by CSC. I felt that it would cost the breakaway group later on.
The speed was still high towards the top of the final climb, so nobody tried an attack.
Nobody tried an attack that is, until Yuri Trofimov stepped up to the plate.
He flew away from the rest of the leading group. This was when the pace hotted up. At that point I was at the back of the group chatting to Baoquing Song. But the accelerations sent him off the back. I was struggling, but I felt I was doing remarkably well to stay with the group.
Yuri had a tailwind towards the finish and kept increasing his lead, in spite of the attentions of CSC and Caisse d'Epargne.
Towards the end of the stage, splits were starting to go in our group so I fought my way to the front.
It proved to be worth it as I claimed 3rd in the sprint, by sticking in Kurt Astle Arvesen's slipstream.
But today was all about one man.....the Crushing Russian...........Yuri Trofimov

The GC is basically the same.
Another hilly stage tommorow, but with less demanding terrain. The team will hope to defend Yuri's lead.

Paris-Nice 2009 Stage 4
A similar parcours to yesterday but with shallower, less relentless gradients.
Boonen was the surprise lone break of the day. I could only fathom that he was trying to pick up sprint points. He managed to win one intermediate sprint.
With Boonen already hauled in, halfway up the second climb, I had a dig, trying to shed myself of a slightly docile pack.
I went solo for most of the climb, but the pack upped the pace, not willing to let me go, and I was caught, just at the KOM banner.
On the final climb of the day, the first meaningful attacks were put in by Luis Leon Sanchez and Alejandro Valverde, both of Caisse d'Epargne. Yuri easily countered these and got into a lead group of 3, alongside Valverde and Carlos Barredo.
Barredo gave the others the slip on the descent as I relaxed in the peloton, protected by Gilberto. Trofimov flung his bike through the corners on the twisty descent and brought Valverde and himself up to Barredo, before jumping away on his own.
He held his advantage to the line and took his second stage win of the year.
I was second in the 85-strong bunch sprint. All of my team-mates in the group (4) fell in some of the numerous crashes in the twisty finishing straight.

The next stage is a trek into Provence, via the legendary Mont Ventoux. This stage is likely to put Yuri, not a pure climber, into his first difficulties of the race. I may have to help him out.

I'd really like to improve this story so if you have any tips or advice you can pass on, whatever it may be about (screenshots, reporting, layout etc.), it would be duly appreciated

Are you running the game at the best graphic for your PC? No spectators... That would be much better |
