and I finally got to play it. plus a new wireless gamepad
for those who haven't noticed, there's a "scan" function, in the edit mode, so you can use a picture of anything that you have lying around, or take one in-game if you have a webcam, and them slap that face on one of the players or a new one created by you.
cool
if only I had a webcam

1) Lag issues resulting from slow connections have been improved.
2) The speed the power bar builds up is now consistent.
3) Small mistakes in the in-game text have been fixed.
4) Minor issues that occurred under rare conditions have been solved.

I'm sure I singlehandedly can beat you
I've been dutch champion at PES4. And PES 2008 really reminds me a lot of PES4
Unfortunately, I think issoisso is pretty good -- and I know that I suck. So, it's just a matter of how many goals issoisso will win with But as long as he doesn't have time to play a match against me I have the bragging rights
I still have to learn how to defend in this version though.
In PES6 my online account had an average of 0.76 goals against per match, which means very hard to score (most people have 1.2 or above). And I scored 1.88 on average ratings 650 etc
But in this version I'm doing bad so far, I still score as much (1.92 atm) but I concede too simply (1.98)
I think I'll start Master League. With those shitty players it's allways perfect to learn the game.

that would've been true years ago, as I played quite a lot ever since ISS pro Deluxe for SNES. but in the past few years I've gone way down on playing time, so I'm not nearly at the level I was. it's only normal, I guess
besides, nowadays all I care about is having fun with insane dribbles, not actually winning

I just played my first online match. I won 4-1 - he got the goal on an unfair penalty He was totally useless. He tried all these dribble moves, but they didn't work for him at all.
I got my first goal on a cross. After that, he was obviously scared that I would get more crosses. So, everytime I got past him on the wings, he tackled me and got a red card, giving me even better opportunities to get some good crosses in
since Addy was asking about the tricks and dribbles the other day, I was thinking of taking a few minutes now to do them all and upload a few short videos plus descriptions on how to the the 15-20 or whatever of them. (it's a lot less work than it sounds like).
so I went to get the controller.......oops I left it with a friend who I won't see until tuesday damn.

I've got a sprained ankle so I can't go out. that leads to boredom. which leads to this. enjoy.
all the moves are, for ease of reference, with the player running left to right (horizontally on the screen). if I say he's standing still, he's still facing the exact same way (the right).
also, controls are relative to your screen. if I say "press left", you should press left on your controller. all moves can also be done in any other direction. just imagine the controls having rotated the same angle as your player is from the direction I'm referring to here (this one -----> )
finally, if you can't do one, don't despair. some take practice. once you get into it, it's easy. try them in training mode with no defenders until you get them right.
also, these are just dribbles. for passing, shooting and crossing, pause mid-game and search the menu. there's a list of all those controls very in-depth somewhere in there.
Dash - simple. when the guy dives in or puts a foot in to tackle you, just press a direction diagonally away from him at the same time as R1(that's the sprint button). your player should dash diagonally past the opposing defender.
Side-step - again simple, hold R2 and press a direction 90º from where you're facing. leave immediately. if done at the right moment, it's one of the simplest but most effective ways of leaving a defender in the dirt.
two-foot feint - player's dribbling accuracy must be higher than 75 at the very least. while running, very quickly tap diagonal-up-right and right again (I say "again" because that's the direction your guy was running). used mostly as a means of protecting the ball. if you do it against a human opponent, he won't risk tackling otherwise he might very well foul you.
shoulder drop - same first part as the previous one (diagonal-up-right), but then instead of right, diagonal down-right. then back to center. must be done VERY fast with a player with over 85 dribbling accuracy. not that useful, but a decent show-off
jump over tackle - defender slides in for a tackle? hit R2 (extremely hard to time) and your guy will jump over the tackle. the ball is on it's own however. useful on the sidelines
stop the ball on the spot - R1 without pressing anything else (not even directions). useful when dribbling or when waiting for another guy to make a run
stop the ball on the spot automatically facing the goal - same as the above, only R2 instead.
knock ball ahead - while sprinting in a straight line, tap right (or whatever other direction you're facing) repeatedly. your guy will knock the ball further ahead, thus being slightly faster
knock ball diagonally - in the same situation, press R1+R2+up(or down). your player will knock the ball far ahead in a 45º angle.
tap out - after stopping the ball with R1 or R2, hit L1+R1 and your guy will tap the ball ahead and run onto it. if you cross, it'll be more accurate. if you shoot, it'll be more accurate, with a higher chance of doing a no-spin shot. here's a double take: a no-spin shot is when the ball spins very little after it's shot. it indicates a shot that came out particularly accurate, usually. if the player doesn't have the "middle shooting" ability, you probably won't have any chance of seeing it. when it connects, it's a quite accurate and powerful blast.
super cancel - at any time, hit R1+R2 and nothing else. it'll cancel whatever your player is doing. if he seems to be running on a "set route", use it to move him from it at any time. can be used for some pretty cool humilliations of human opponents
single stepover - R2(x2). that simple. if the guy's standing still, the step-over will be different (and simpler)
multiple stepovers - L1(x2). at any time during the stepovers, you can break away from them by just pressing a direction diagonally from where you're going.
feint - while your pressing the shoot or cross button in order to shoot or cross (duuh), suddenly hit the pass button. suddenly, it's a shot/cross feint. awesome to plant the keeper on his ass in a one-on-one.
Roulette - ah yes, popularised by Michael Laudrup in the eighties. just rotate the RIGHT analog stick 360º either way.
elastico - Rivelino humilliated the italian defence in 1970 with this. they literally wanted to kill him afterwards
R2(x3). that simple. but only with certain players. off the top of my head...Rivelino (classic Brazil), Ronaldinho, Robinho, Ronaldo, C.Ronaldo, Wilhelmsson. there's about ten more.
let ball past - when your guy is about to receive a pass, just hold R1 and NO DIRECTIONS. nothing other than R1. he'll open his legs and let it through.
Diving - L2+L1+R1. yellow card unless timed to perfection.
Crossing stance - L1+R1 when to the side of the box
step on ball then forward - as above, the do a stepover using L1.
go around the ball - running, hold L1 then hit R1
over the ball impossible to describe...thing... - sidestep, them immediately do a single stepover with R2.
Rabona/Letra/whatever - player must have 3 or less for "weak foot frequency" (that's the frequency with which he uses it). 85+technique stat required. 90+recommended (meaning: use Recoba or Maradona). force a guy into a position where he HAS to shoot with his weaker foot. shoot. if lucky he'll do the move that Maradona made so popular. video courtesy of a certain Mr. Quaresma :
and now the ultimate show-off section:
do a (half)split - standing still, tap up(or down. works too. as long as it's 90º from where you're facing) twice VERY QUICKLY. no use except to wind up a guy. really makes him feel like you have nothing but contempt for him
Matthews feint (yes, STANLEY Matthews) - standing still, hit up then hold down (or vice-versa). must be done quickly (mustn't they all...)
lift the ball - down then up very quickly on the RIGHT analog stick. lifts the ball in the air slightly. pretty useless. now here's the thing: do it while standing still and the ball will go much higher. extremely humilliating to do this to someone who's rushing like a madman in your direction, and then get the ball on the other side.
drag-back - while standing still, hold R2 and press the direction opposite to the one you're facing. he'll drag the ball back. it's actually useful, but the reason it's in this section is.....
drag-back+tunnel or spoon(depending on how it works...unless it doesn't) - drag-back as above, but just as your guy starts to pull the ball back, double tap forward quick.
90º reverse-foot tap-out - no real way to describe it EDIT: it's what Quaresma does in the video above, immediatelly beffore the Rabona cross. doing it is simple though. running left to right, hit R1+up quickly. difficult to time at first. few players can do it. C.Ronaldo, Henry, Ronaldo, for instance.
Special Shot - Totti, Cassano, Henry, Pires can do it with their stronger feet. Del Piero can do it with both feet. running parallel to the goal line, do a lob (L1+shoot). he'll shoot at the corner with INSANE curl. (think Del Piero's trademark shot).
I'm 100% sure I forgot stuff. so feel free to add
