well perhaps im a bit biased since I dont really like Dekker as a person but still when he ends in the top 10 in LBL and ppl ask him why he wasnt up front and he says 'I had a stomach ache and I wasnt feeling strong' than that is clearly an excuse
Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.

Well, if he is sitting in the back, then he is indeed not feeling strong. Because when he really wants to, he is constantly in the front like in the Gold Race. While that race has much more corners.
He simply wasn't good. You could see it very clearly on the Redoute, really having trouble there. In the end he finally got better in the last 5k, but he would not possibly have done better. So I think his 'excuse' is clearly justified.
Btw, it's normal Rotjedam F'noord fans don't like Amsterdammers like Dekker

Dekker's from Amsterdam? well, that explains it then. hash brownies are bad for your stomach.
(go steoreotypes!)
EDIT: go guy-who-can't-speel-stereotypes!
EDIT2: go guy-who can't spell "spell"!

As I wasn't able to watch this yesterday I comletely cut myself off the world of sports until today where I watched the replay on Eurosport and I'm glad I did cause it was a great race.
I just don't see why Frank didn't attack on the final climb, he didn't look like one who was gonna blow up, so why he didn't put in one final effort I don't know. Unfortuneately he is going to have very big problems winning these classics because basically all classics riders, including Andy, can sprint and it's very difficult to stay clear on your own.

Never in my life have I refered to Matti Breschel being a 'top sprinter', you just can't prove that in any way because I simply haven't.
And yep Andy can sprint. He beat Rebellin in last year's Giro di Lombardia and in Sachsen Tour 2006 he won two stages outsprinting Rutkiewitz in one of them and then Gerdemann in the second.

Which says complety nothing to me.
Rebellin is not as fast as he used to be. The problem is Valverde and Cunego, you have to get rid of them to win. |

About Breschel, it was a figure of speech, it wasn't meant to be exact, but saying that schleck can sprint just takes the cake.
schleck can't sprint. not any better than any other random average rider. then again It's normal for people to be blinded by their bias, so I can see how you honestly believe that.

I won't say it's my bias and believe me I'm not so blinded by my bias that I can't see when I'm totally off. The fact remains that he has proven he can outsprint guys like Rebellin and Gerdemann, who can both sprint at the same level of the average classics rider.

It still says nothing to me, Dekker outsprinted Ventoso and almost Koldo Fernandez in a flat mass sprint in Castilla y Leon. Still I wouldn't want him to sprint against Rebellin, Valverde and Cunego in such a classic, he would definately lose |

One time is just that. one time. anybody can outsprint anybody one time. Gerdemann is about one of the worst sprinters in the peloton, and as Ruben said, Rebellin is not the sprinter he once was (he's nearly 37 for god's sake), so I've yet to see Andy regularly show he's anything more than average.
Cunego, Valverde, Di Luca, Sánchez, Schumacher, are all classics favorites that have a much faster finish, and that will be a problem.
