Muur isn't seen in Ronde for some years but now De Panne includes the Muur van Geraardsbergen in its opening stage. Also, De Panne wants to go World Tour.

Very nice indeed, especialy after E3 skipped the Muur as well (and even Haaghoek/Leberg this year).
I think they have WT potential, because it's a race quite different from the usual WT races that use climbs to make a difference. They might need a new place on the calander though, as many guys want to skip/abandon halfway it to be ready for Ronde Van Vlaanderen (my hat off to Kristoff for wining both). And well, it would be yet another Belgian race..
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Funny thing about that is its the new 3 guys. Climbers as well (atleast thats what Kwiatek wants to be). The Sky-way BOYS.
Edit: Nibali also seems to want to have a good spring, for once! |

It's probably just a marginal illness. |

Eddy Boss Hagen still dreaming about Paris-Roubaix most. IMO that was his problem with SKY too, wanting to win the big ones too much and always failing at the cobblez especially when Stannard and Thomas were better than him. IMO stage hunter glory and one week'er is his ideal set-up since he just great in his versatility with an additional outside shot for classics.
"Paris-Roubaix is the one I really want to win but all the Classics are really big and they come one after the other, so it's good to have good form for that period, and just try to do a good race each time," he said.
"I've never done really well in Roubaix but it's still the one I'd like to do well in, but we'll see. I haven't reconned it this year but I've done it a few times now and I know all the cobblestone sections."

The problem with EBH is he is good at lots of things but not great at anything. In cycling the most successful riders are specialist riders who are great at one discipline.
Cavendish - Sprints
Martin - TT
Boonen - Cobbles
Gilbert - Hills
Quintana - Mountains
You would say overall EBH is a more complete rider then all of these 5. However as these five are specialists in one discipline they will always be more successful and win more/higher profile races.
Because of this I don't think EBH had a place as a leader at a team like Sky. Hence his move to a smaller team where he probably will lead them in the classics. He won't get close to winning any and a top 10 is probably the best he can hope for, but at least a team like DD will give him a chance to lead.
Peter Sagan has a similar problem which is why he often finishes close to the win but doesn't win. As good as he is all round there is always a specialised rider who is better than him in the specific situation of the race and so pips him to the line. |

If i will have to read here about Sagan not winning races again and again, about 10 times a month which is a current standard, i will start a killing spree, i swear.
EBH: 44 pro victories
Sagan: 69 pro victories
Both are actually frequent winners in their careers, while being 28 and 26 years old. Majority of pro cyclists will never come close to these numbers...
Martin, Gilbert and Quintana actually have less professional victories than Sagan, but of course in different terrains, none of them are sprinters, so it would be mad to compare it.
And as far as my liking of cycling types goes, i value all-arounders much more, as they are complete cyclists and can be seen near the front on different terrains (Gilbert and Martin are also all-arounders in my eyes, just slightly different from EBH or Sagan).

If you need some target, feel free to use Rojas, who has 8 pro wins.

As much as I love him, and I do, EBH is just far, far too inconsistent- you never know what you're going to get. When he's on, he's on- when he's off, you don't see him all race. Look at the Giro 2014, for example- he knew full well that was his one shot at earning a new contract, yet did nothing, got injured, went home. Dimension are beginning to eke the best out of him, though- I actually think he's better suited to Flanders than Paris-Roubaix.
Big year for him, this.
Disclaimer- Most of my posts are me thinking aloud. And most of what I think is rubbish.

No one is denying EBH has won lots of races. You would expect him to win lots of races given his skill set means a much larger selection of races is winnable for him. But what has he won? He won Gent-Wevelgem once about 7 years ago and hasn't really come close to any major one day/monument race since. He has never won the points jersey at a major pro tour race (Tour Down Under & Eneco Tour's are undoubtedly the poor relations of the pro tour calendar), and has never really done anything of note at the world champs.
The 5 riders previously mentioned have all specialised in one discipline and have all won monuments, major races, grand tours and world championships as a result. In 10, 15, 20 years times they will all be remembered as better riders then EBH despite EBH being the better all round rider.
EBH doesn't come close to winning major races because when the best of the best is racing, EBH doesn't come close to being the best of the best in any discipline.
My point is that EBH needs to find a speciality and stick to it otherwise he will continue to win the odd stage and crappy little one day races and will not be remembered as being a good rider in years to come.

but they could have won so much more
but in recent years EBH "only" has 5 pro victories while Sagan has "only" 13 pro victories. imo it's not fair to count 2009 and 2011/2012/2013 respectively when they went absolutely bonkers with winning when talking about them not winning races
(as them not winning races is in the present and them winning a lot of races is in the past )

Maybe crappy little one day races and the odd stage win in bigger events is EBH's limit, I think he was one of those young riders who developed quickly and won a heap of races but then leveled out, we have seen this happen a heap of times over cycling's history and to me this is where EBH fits in

Perhaps. But I do think he has the potential to be a good classics rider if he concentrated on it.
A good example is today at Oman. He finished 10th on a tough mountain stage. Good ride but ultimately no one will remember who finished 10th in a mountain stage at the tour of Oman. No other Classics riders are trying to climb Mountains in Oman. They're in Europe training for the classics in a few weeks time.
This is what EBH should be doing instead of hoovering up pointless early season wins in the middle east.
But as you say, perhaps he is happy as he is. Although I would think that at D Data he will be a leader and they may expect him to start getting results in bigger races. |

What makes you think that if he concentrated on one aspect of cycling like the classics that he would win anything? He could win a classic as they are unpredictable but to me he is what someone else has already said, a jack of all trades but a master of none.
