Exactly what I was thinking. Great to see him going back at his old level for real though.
Imo,this is still not his real level

Some guys are not just made for GT. Porte is one of them. He is superb in a week long stage races. Sky should hence focus more on guys like Konig who have proven last year in TdF and now in Giro. And let Porte win small stage races.

I agree that Konig is a better bet for GT's, he has kept improving each year and also comes across as confident in his abilities. I will be surprised if Porte stays with Sky next year

So much exaggerations on Aru, calling him weak and done because he loses 1 second on Contador up a climb, lol.... He wont win unless Contador has some problems (crash, mechanical, bad day) but he is still clearly the second best rider in this Giro...

But he did look weak there, I don't think anybody thinks Aru isn't the 2nd best rider at this years Giro but there is no hiding the fact that he did not look strong today

I don't know, this seems to me as much as his level in 2011. Any better would mean he'd follow Aru/Trofimov.

It is sad he lost 8 minutes in that one stage early one. He could've fought for top 5 / podium. He's proven he's definately not worse than König or Amador

He could have followed Trofimov with his 2011 form.Trogimov was the weakest of the 4

Great ride by Amador. The field is lacking a lot in depth, but still. He can actually make top 5.

Also, fantastic stage win for Landa. Spain really needs him in the coming years, so great to see him becoming the rider he has promised to be for the last few seasons.

Trofimov trolled there, and almost won.

Aru weak.

Aru weak? Why?..because he lost second to Contador today?
He is same type rider has Nibali..Sastre. Not much acceleration coming from these rider..but they keep diesel running.

I think this is exactly whats going on, I don't doubt he received a knock on the knee which would be uncomfortable but the brain can be funny sometimes, when confident and motivated you can push through and ignore any pain but when you have lost that motivation the pain can feel worse than it actually is. Thats how Porte looked today

Fantastic stage again.
For me, Contador is the only true GT rider of this generation.
Perhaps also Nibali, but he's not as good as Contador, I believe.

All other GT winners do it and then suck at other GTs or something. Contador is always right up there, ready to pick up the glove. I really like that.

Stays an amazing Giro so far!
Too bad about VDB, though.

The question always was which GC-contenders would show up besides Uran, Aru, Contador and Porte and since 2 of them basically are out of it, I guess this is what happens. For sure this field is lacking some depth which is disappointing, but I guess we will have to wait for the Tour in order for some 'real' GC-guns to go at it besides the top-2. A glance at the top-10 more than reveals that.....

Yup, great to witness Landa since the next generation needs to step it up in order to follow the great generation of Valverde, Rodriguez, Contador and Sanchez. Still tho, it looks kinda slim in terms of pure GC-riders, but they got some very decent riders atm, including Landa who is the one shining the brightest

Sure, it would have been fun to see the "Big Four" duke it out till the end, but I'm not too dissapointed. This way, we might get some pretty decent action over the remaining places in the Top 10. The top spot on the podium looks done and dusted, barring a Contador-fall that is.

And I'm gonna keep on saying that Aru looks done for, in the sence that he won't gain more time than Contador lets him, by the looks of things. Clearly, he's the 2nd best rider this Giro, but I don't think even the worst elements of italian and kazahk cycling history combined can help him.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

I think Porte could of still been up there without that crash. It's hard to tell whats really going on with him.

So I am the only one who thinks that Landa is better? If Astana had focused on him from the start, he would still be behind Aru atm, but he seems better in the Mountains to me.

Nibali has never beaten Contador in a GT, although it needs to be said they haven't fought it out until the end since Contador's doping suspension. Still, I don't see NIbali beating him, even this year after Contador has already done the Giro, I still see him finishing off Nibbles in Le Tour.

And Astana did make a mistake putting it all on Aru. If they played it smarter with Landa they could've hurt Contador much more.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
