To say something positive, VDB is looking good for the Giro!
He was 3rd overall in Dauphine last year, so it doesn't mean much.
That was a badly timed form peak mostly, one month too early. He should still be good in Giro from Romandie.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Romandie for giro is a bit like the dauphine for the tour - unreliable when it comes to reading too much into. Vdb though if he can stay upright could be nice bet for top 5.
Mm Zakarin I can see pretty nice low key results last year like say the Yates brothers. Difficult like Froome, Horner for people to swallow I suppose. I don't think he is like the we will never learn Italians do Luca, Ricco ... More like Russian experiment... The next Menchov, kasachkin?

Badly timed form peak? How about just not being better than top-15 in the Tour. Thats just who he is at this stage of his career, im gonna be handing out ice cream for the whole forum if he cracks top-5
Anyyyyyywaaaays, whats up with Katusha Pill Service recently? |

Cracking Top 5 in Il Giro? Might not be quite as hard as it first seems for Van Den Broeck as long as he can avoid his usual crashing out or injuring himself lark, since the GC competition at Il Giro can sadly be weaker than that at Le Tour. Possibly harder said than done in VDB's case, but if Pierre Rolland can do it...
Although that is based on the risky assumption that the motivation to perform well is there, whoever is handling his schedule has him well conditioned, and he is set to physically peak at the appropriate time. We'll see how things are by the conclusion of Il Giro obviously, the more competition the better as far as I am concerned.

Avatar bet?
You have it.
Great!
So, if Zakarin gets caught before end of the year, you get to choose an avatar for me and if he doesn't get busted, I do for you. Busted in the sense that something in his blood e.g. has shown for example. We all know UCI works too slow to ban someone still in this year.
Time length of the avatar, hm dunno, from January till the end of le Tour?

I think a lot of people were already saying something positive regarding Zakarin.
First Paolini, then Kristoff, now Zakarin. They've found whatever Sky have had for a few years. I wonder if Froome's bad form is because others have caught up or because there is a new test for gene doping (some french athletics guy was caught last month) or some other reason. |

Wouldn't mention Paolini and Kristoff in the same sentence as Zakarain. Paolini has been great in many years and Kristoff has a natural progression through the years. Zakarin on the other hand is so full of shit it's not even funny. |

What a shit do you write? What russian dope riders shining in Giro? Contador, Basso, Di Luka, Hesjedal, who else?
PS To admins : be carefull, your site is becoming absolutly unprofessional, i wanted to read about Tour de Romandie, but almost all posts dedicated to dope, angry to Zakarin, Froome.
Question to Guido Mukk,Omloop,Miguel98 and others : Why you watching cycling if you hate it ?
Sorry if bad english

I guess that Guido meant riders like Menchov,Honchar, Konyshev, Tonkov,Berzin...but yeah, there are also other dirty nations, not only east europeans.
About that professionalism, should we ignore the clear signs and hold omerta like the prodessionals do? I dont think so...
When a rider who was caught doping when he was 19 is sudenly one of the brightest stars of the season and he rides for a team with past such as Katusha's, should we be in awe of his abilities without reasonable doubt?

I love watching cycling. What makes you think I don't? And i think it's important to state the obvious, which Zakarin is in this case. There is no agenda against Russia. |

Berzin, Ugrumov, Menchov...Tonkov is kinda suspicious, but I don't know if he was doped (more than 90s standard)
Die hard fan of Tom Boonen and Quickstep since 2004.

Just saying, the same time last year Zakarin won everything he raced. Why shouldn´t he be that strong on his from peak?
I know he raced on lower level but he dominated the races. Did you ever noticed him racing in good form against world class riders building up form and with a free role?
If the winner would´ve been Simon Yates you all would´ve celebrated his great victory & developement.
I´m not a Katusha or Zakarin fan...just thinking the hate is too much because of his team/nation combo.

To Croatia14:
This the words that i wanted to say, thanks man.
My position is: none of the riders does't deserve talking about doping before positive tests, this is such a hard work to be a good cyclist and i think to accuse rider into doping is a very disrespect to him.
Sorry if bad english

Armstrong was also seen clean before he got caught. It's not about being disrespectful, but about being realistic. I think everyone dopes, but does it hinder me to love the sport? No. They dope whenever money is in the game. I once talked to several guys who were Amateur Racers of very young age(around 14-16). They stopped racing after they saw parents injecting stuff to their children just before the race. And even if this are just a few guys, it shows that doping is even present in the junior races, and if thats the case, why shouldn't it be in the pro races, too?

I don't think this is the most important point.
Criticism is mainly because he was already caugth with doping.
Once you get caught, it keeps following you around. Which, you could say, is a good thing in the fight against it.
Of course, riding for a dodgy team doesn't help |
