So, in Belgium we had Van Aert as big favourite. Pauwels tried to surprise him with a fast start, but Van Aert countered him. Eventually it was Merlier who managed hang on to Van Aert, blowing himself up annoying Van Aert to help Pauwels and Vantornout. But Van Aert ditched him and went solo. At that point, Sporza interviewed Niels Albert, who said that Nys was going to come back. Nys was total crap all season, so no one believed him, but one lap later, Nys was in Van Aert's wheel as he rode up a hill Van Aert couldn't quite manage. One minute later, Van Aert has a mechanical and you think Nys has this, but Vantornout (who has been ill all of the holidays) manages to return. Then Van Aert went through the mud section with incredible speed, closing the gap and bringing Peeters, Meeusen and Pauwels back as well.
So to recap, the cross looked decided twice already, but suddenly we have 6 leaders again. Meeusen looks strong, but goes a bit early and Van Aert brings him back. Peeters tries as well, but can't get stay away. Nys seems tired and Pauwels looks dead (but he has his sprint). Then the decisive moment, Vantornout has a small gap, but goes down on an uphill section. As he gets up, he pushes his bike to the middle of the road, blocking Peeters who goes down as well on the top of the hill. Van Aert sees the entire road blocked and has to get off his bike on the steep slope. Meeusen has the same problem behind Van Aert and Vantornout is gone. Awesome race!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Van der Poel brothers make it 1-2 at Dutch Championships. Mathieu already put in 20 seconds in the first lap into Van der Haar. Domination!

And Mathieu has decided to race the World Championships with the pro's. I'm pretty sure Van Aert will want to ride with the pro's too, now.
Will be an interesting battle between Netherlands (van der Poel brothers, van der Haar and van Kessel) and Belgium (Van Aert, Nys, Pauwels, Meeusen, Vantornout) |

Interesting decision, i think U23 riders like Sweeck, Aerts or ToupalÃk can be pretty happy with it.
I would be happy too, because i am not sure i will make it to U23 race in person and missing VdP and Van Aert would suck hard.

Very good news indeed. If Van der Poel and Van Aert both race Elites, this will make both races, Elites and U23, much more exciting and interesting to watch.
Hopefully VDP will get to ride only for a two weeks in the dutch NC jersey then.

Van Aert should race with U23, I think.
I have my reasons but I'm too lazy to type them out now
Good news that Van der Poel will mix it up with the pros, though, he can take a title! |

Sweet, this way Elite races will be a fantastic show and U23 race should be more interesting that way too.

You mean Sweeck will dominate? |

Probably, yes. Michael Vanthourenhout is a good bet too, but he hasn't impressed me lately. |

Pff, just wait and see how the czech first year in U23 megatalent will kill everybody at the home course, as he was born in Tabor and knows every corner there.

I'd love to see that happen. The u23 race has been an dutch-belgium party the last few years. We need a new Stybar, as Styby doesn't race that much cyclo-cross races anymore. |

Some big news here regarding the World Championships. Meeusen and Laurens Sweeck (and Bart Wellens, but he wasn't selected anyway) are unable to ride the WC, because of the ongoing investigation against the ozon-therapy doctor Chris Mertens!

I'm really questioning the timing to start this investigation, less then 2 weeks before the worlds..

And now the sport court in Belgium (there's probably a better english name for it ) decides Meeusen and co should be allowed to start. Total chaos!

VDP with a lead of 30 seconds after two laps in Hoogerheide - let's see how the race ends but looks like he is set to perfectly peak for Tabor.

And with that Mathieu will be the top favourite for Tabor. Dominating win.
