But you have to remember that Lemond´s win was on a TT on the last stage-
Most exciting end to a TdF https://www.youtu...Wyfb3H7LEg
And i kinda wish they would do that again
well you asked when the GC changed on the champs and I gave you the last time I could remember when the GC changed on the champs
I wish that the tour was actually exiting for once. insert people claiming that I didn't watch the tour

I remember suggesting that Peraud could win and Pinot could podium, and being laughed at. Now who's laughing? |

I also wish they would be brave enough to have another TT as they final stage again, the Giro has done it with good success and as much as the parade into Paris does work and is huge you can't just keep doing the same thing over and over again. Switching it to twilight was a nice addition, yes it can be a anti-climax if the GC leaders is way ahead but imagine the GC coming down to the final day on the Champs Elysees in a TT.

I agree, but I don't think they'll dare to do that. Unless a French TT champion rises (who is also a GC rider)
Imagine if they did it for example next year and Pinot is 1st with Froome 4 seconds behind and then they have a final TT on the Champs. After Lemond, they wouldn't survive it.

LOL , well i guess i needed to point i meant since the last stage was a normal stage.
But yes i also wish for a exciting tour, this year as far as nr.1 has been over since stage 10.
I kinda wish they would make it so that the mountains didn´t have such a huge impact on the GC, place a cobble each year might be part of the answer. |

You know, I thought Valverde winning the Spanish ITT NC as a hopeful sign that he had improved his TT a bit, but clearly not. 4th is still Valverde's best position at the Tour I think, but I really thought he had it in him.
Tejay had a great ride today and so did Konig.

I hoped after NC and good spring that Valverde finally will get a good Tour, though I think it was more of fatigue in the third week than ITT problems. He just lacked legs to keep podium.

Holy crap Mollema, that was the most disastrous TT I have ever seen since ma one and only Michael Rasmussen - didnt expect that! Someone mentioned something about their bikes or something jazz like that, but that doesnt explain this TT, like at all
I hoped Valverde was able to get 3rd, but oh well. Respect to all the French guys, didnt expect so good TTs from Pinot and Bardet. Definetely the future in this sport! |

Mollema already cramped 10 k into the TT, plus he looked just as blocky as Froome without Froome's power and (like usual) his position on the new bike (new as in they got it on the restday)

Mollema is an idiot imo. Who uses a bike that he has never used before in a TT????? |

This ITT makes me dislike Belkin even more. The fact that Valverde does not get a podium solely reminds me of last year's echelon stage.. He would probably have been on the podium last year, but got knockouted by som team going all in on that 6th spot. Jesus.
But 2 french riders on the podium is actually pretty awesome. We and this Tour has been great for me personally cause of Majka's true awesomeness. I'm looking forward to see him and his fancy clothes/bike tomorrow!

They were 2nd or 3rd in the GC there so don't be saying stupid things if you don't know what you're talking about. I'm not discussing it again by the way, as I don't want to get mad . Also Valverde has not deserved it this year, he had a huge chance at podium and he failed miserably. |

They were 3rd and 6th before they made the dick move. So you should get your facts straight before playing games.
Did I ever say that he deserved to win it this year? Nope, I did not. He deserved it last year and would have done it, if not for Belkin.

Belkin's fault for Valverde not finishing on the podium last year
You do realize he was in the same team with uhmm that Colombian guy who finished second... And then it was Purito who was also stronger than him. But yeah he would have definitely got it.
Also, yeah it's totally Belkin's fault cause they sticked with their plan and did not wait for Valverde, not his Movistar team - mates' who were busy pissing instead of actually helping him.

Its been heavily discussed before but if you give him back the time he lost (roughly 10 minutes) on that stage alone he would be on the podium and also he outclimbed Purito on some days too, even Froome iirc on one stage. I saw Valverde and Purito as pretty much even last year. At worst Valverde was the 4th best climber (5th if you count Porte I suppose, at times anyway) last year and would have held on to his podium imo.
Also being team-mates with Quintana doesn't change much. Their relationship was more like Peraud and Bardet than Porte and Froome.
Finally his team-mates did pretty well in that situation actually. He got on Rojas' (???) bike almost immediately, just that their group was never going to pull the front group back.
Its really been too long ago now to be speaking negatively towards Belkin like above but yes it was their fault.

@alexkr00
I do realize that but if we took the lost time on the echelon stage away, he would have gotten the podium.
They stuck to their plan? Well if that was the case, I dislike them even more. Because it was at the moment Radio Tour spoke about him being behind that Belkin came to the front.
However, valverde321 is right actually. It happened a year ago and should not be discussed now. I am sorry for bringing it up again.

Czech TT power!
I knew that Barta is top10 time-trialist in the world, but Leo surprised me, even when i read whole year, that he has worked on his TT ability extremely much and he says it is his strongest discipline now.
And what he also says? That he can win the Tour one day. What a confidence.
Incredible feat, to be 7th in the Tour with PCT team and loosing 3,5 minutes because of Talansky not learning to ride a bike.
