I don't like the Team of the Tournament rule, as it's too selective. If you want to do something like that, give it to all active people in the previous TOTC editions.

I think you might have misunderstood. That point was basically me saying to give Valjavec + the like stat increases. If I do that then the 'top riders' are more equal with each other so then we can have higher quality riders eligible. No one player gets an advantage.

I have read it wrong then Wink

It seems a bit unneeded though. The other ideas are great, but this one will give you database editing work without a real purpose, in my opinion.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

even better pot system as the no.1/no.2 teams with the draft picks still ended up on the UC podium?

You do understand a Draft right? The #1+2 teams are always going to be around the top end with any draft system because they will get the best riders. You can only alter who gets to be #1+2 etc.
(more aimed to shonak than the rider)

Huh, why aimed towards me?

I like the thought of a Team of the Tournament. Since the field was rather equal I don't think that riders will become OP thereby. Obviously this will make Lemoine sheer unbeatable. Wink

As for the the reign of cash: Yeah, why not. To be clear: So, we spent money on our riders (up to 3 millions) in Pot 1 and the other 6 will be drafted. Should be some fun waiting or countering bids. Also nice thinking on the budget side; could make us look out for last second cheap deals and we end up with a fantastic squad.

@ TMM - In that case thank you and you're right about that last part! Wink

@ Ollfardh - Forget I ever brought it up, as I don't think I will do it anyway! Wink

@ Shonak - Yeah up to 3 riders can be bought from Pot1. The remaining 6 riders will be of lower quality and will be drafted the same way as when we did the serpentine system from Pot 2 and Pot 3 in the last round. (which could be up to 9 riders if you didn't buy any in the transfer period.)

And when I say lower quality I really mean lower quality as the riders in Pot1 will be in the 72/74 AVG range, whilst the riders in the lower pots will be 70 AVG and below excluding the TT men.

I will post a bullet point list in this thread later today outlining the plan for the 'transfer period'. Wink

I would only give out stat boosts for much money left when you have buyed at least 2 riders. Otherwise the inactive managers whould get an undeserved bonus ...

Well if the managers are really inactive they won't sign anyone in the transfer period and therefor will only be able to give bonuses to the lesser riders.

The rules of the 'transfer period' so far:

--- Each manager has 3,000,000 to start off with exactly.
--- You can sign up to 3 riders from the Pot 1 riders announced.
--- You cannot bid on more than 3 riders at any one time.
--- The minimum bid for a rider is 100,000.
--- The maximum bid is 3,000,000 (total budget).
--- To bid on a rider you would have to post in the thread before the given deadline.
--- To prevent people from bidding right at the last minute there will be one hour exactly for revised bids after the last bid on a rider (if this is on the time limit)
--- The teams with the most budget leftover will be rewarded (with stat bonuses/ maybe UC points)
--- To be eligible for these bonuses you must have posted at least one rider bid.

Afterwards new riders will be available to bid on in the form of a serpentine system. (similar riders to that of Pot2/Pot3 riders in TOTC4). For this lists will have to be sent to me via PM as in TOTC4. Every team will acquire exactly 3 riders from Pot 2. Every team will acquire up to 6 riders from Pot 3.

If anyone sees any flaws in this/ or has ideas which could help please say so. Wink

Custom riders would complete this Pfft

I know that will never happen, but that is my favourite part of everything. Ollfardh, if you are looking, give me 3 more epic rider slots Pfft

Draft of route for TOTC 5:

This is the current draft route for TOTC 5 (pcm 2011). In TOTC5 you should expect up to around 29 stages Max to take place if the game will allow it.

1. Mesaieed - Mesaieed 6 KM prologue
2. Flat Qatari stage 144
3. Sulton Qaboos - Jabal al akhdar 155 KM (Mountain)
4. Side/ Alanya 157 KM (flat but one giant hill on a lapped circuit)
5. Eindhoven - Eindhoven 49 KM TTT flat
6. Charleroi - Huy 200 KM (Amstel Gold)
7. de panne - de panne 99 KM (flat)
8. Schifflange - Differdange 179 (lumpy - hilly circuit in final)
9. Gunnisen - Aspen 208 KM (Mountainous, with mountains nowhere near the finish)
10. Lincoln - Lincoln 187 (cobbled/hill circuit)
11. Les Herbiers 48 KM TT
12. Guenes - Guenes 149 KM (as seen in the Basque country)
13. Oviedo - Gijon 159 (potentially a sprint stage with hill before finish)
14. Veijle - Herning 172 epic flat cobble stage
15. Oliveira - Santo 156 hilly stage with hilly finish
16. New York - New York 193 (gravel roads of the tour of the battenkill)
17. North Conway - Mount Washington 207 (Ridiculously steep final mountain)
18. Ciudad - Toledo 150 (sprinters stage with hill 10 km from finish)
19. Mountain TT.
20. Mountainous stage from TDF with 3 mountains
21. Cretail - Paris (champs elyesses finish)

At the moment the race is a sketchy draft. Any recommendations will be appreciated. But don't say the name of another classic to add as I would prefer to add stage race stages so we can have intermediate points. Wink

I think the game allows long tours. Previously I've made a 28 day tour, and I haven't had any problems with my Round the World in 80 Days tour, though that's only at 17 due to requests.

6. Charleroi - Huy 200 KM (Amstel Gold)

That's Fleche Wallonne Wink

.....an Canberra is the capital of Australia. Wink....
(I already knew, I just thought it would be a great stage to include regardless of the fact it has no intermediates.)

The Hobbit - Well I doubt I will include that many stages but I hope to include around 25+ as it looks like I can have more than 21 stages in a GT. Wink

---- When it comes to the transfer period expect one or two riders to be slightly better than the rest in some categories. (eg 20 riders have about 76 sprint, but I will add one 77 sprinter so there will be more competition and more tactics to be played out in the bidding period.)

If anyone else has any points they want to make please make them as I will start editing some stuff later today in the hope of starting TOTC5 at the end of this week/ start of next week (hopefully to coincide with EPIC break.)

I like the emphasis on circuit stages. Should make for some fine riding. New York - New York, tour of battenkill. That'll be some huge publicity for T.O.T.C. and fun stage to watch (and to play too I'd presume). Shock
