Wasn't that Veilleux? Or perhaps it's some Canadian thing, retiring once you've done something OK |

Seems to be a Canadian thing
After 18 years devoted to my cycling career, after winning a World Tour race, after taking part in six world championships, the Commonwealth Games as well as in many races at a high level, I have achieved my goals. I am proud of what I’ve accomplished and I know that I did it in a noble manner. Today, I need to go to new challenges

"and I know that I did it in a noble manner"
I wonder. An indirect to Hesjedal maybe? |

No point of making it indirect since thet both owned up
He was passed over for the Canadian Olympic team in 2008 as first alternate behind two now-confessed [ex-]dopers. "It makes me sick," he said. "I feel a lot of frustration and disgust. These frauds defined a large part of my career since I was young."

Rui Costa is (again?) Portugal's athlete of the year. Quite deserved after such a great season, but I actually wonder: How big is cycling in Portugal? Like, is it even more important than football? After all, he won against no other than CR7, a guy who is famous for being 2nd at such awards, but none the less one of the greatest and definitely most famous athletes in the world.

Joël Blévin, head of Bretagne - Séché environnement has resigned.
Two reasons are cited, first that he's ill and needs to rest, second that he has troubles coping with Séché environnement.
Apparently the team is getting more and more confident about a TDF wild card for next year. |

Oh, so when he won the Giro he was yours, but when he doped he's ours?

Almost anyobdy gives a shit about cycling nowadays. He just won because he's the World Champ this year. |

Firstly thanks XxMillad for the link to the article this isn't aimed at you
Secondly nice to know the Mail's reputation for right wing bile is international
Also they will probably run a story tomorrow about how Armstrong is innocent and O'Reilly a jealous liar or some such. It's the one paper where it's difficult to find a way back with people once I've seen them buying it... |

Awkward for the guy who wrote that, who knew football was invented by Italians? So now it's left wing who are afraid of foreigners? This is such a bad article, I mean, how biased can you possibly get. |

Riis cycling could be sold sooner or later. 4 potential buyers, which includes Oleg Tinkov.
Maybe Alonso and some Asian investors.
What do you Think about it? |

We were on about something like Brutus stabbing Caesar...
I just re-read the mail exchanges between Landis and Verbruggen in 2010 (on CN), great read, although that doesn't really change how I perceived each of them's statements back then. |

A surprisingly interesting article on Froome's background on the BBC https://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/2495...g/24951818
Take the quote from his girlfriend whichever way you will "He's just so focused on what he wants, and he'll do anything to get there"...indeed.
On that note so many top sportsmen and women have well documented drive that I guess I shouldn't be surprised when some can't stop short of the line. For those (limited) Froome fans I'm not condemning him, though there are clearly a number of question marks. Anyway you should find it an interesting read.

I have a feeling that everytime Froome's girlfriend openes her mouth a part of him cringes.
PS: Not ment in a dirty way.

I think that's in the job description of being a gf/wife to a sports star |
