So guys, anyone going to the WC's on february 1st/2nd?
They're in Hoogerheide in the South of the Netherlands, not too far from me and I'm thinking of going on Sunday to see the U23 and Elite Men.
I'm asking to see if there's a chance of meeting up with some fellow PCMDaily members

Last World Cup of the season today. Does anyone know at which time the Elite men start?

Correct!
@ Shorts
I won't be going. Too far away for me and I prefer watching it on TV. |

Thanks, I don't know anything about the route... but judging on recent form I'm putting my money on Nys... he has been an absolute beast lately.
Hoping for a good result for Albert so he is all ready for the Worlds!

Well Nys didn't participate as he feels this race doesn't fit his WC preparations. And Albert has been ill and is in terrible shape lately.
It became a nice 3-way battle between Meeusen, Mourey and Walsleben, with Meeusen taking the win with a powerful sprint. |

Yeah, real strong win of will from him. He was hanging onto Mourey and Walsleben most of the time with quite some distance and looked like he was really hurting. I didn't think he'd come back but alas he came back and came back and came back again. He was also real smart with his energy and power.

Best cross in weeks
I wouldn't mind if Nys decided that he wouldn't start in more races

I've been supporting Lars since I saw him riding for the first time
Though Van Aert won the WC Cup before Van der Poel, no? |

Nope. He won the race, but he didn't win the WC. Van der Poel won it. In fact, Van der Poel's lead before the race was already too big.

I found a pretty useful site about cyclocross. Lots of information concerning races and riders. Only problem is it's in french.

Quick weather forecast for Sunday:
Teletext page 704 predicts for all of the Netherlands temperatures above freezing and only 10% chance of rain. So it looks like the course will be dry and not frozen.
That said, I won't be soaked as a spectator either, so I'll most likely go now

Above is a map of the race. Click the link for a bigger version.
This is the race schedule:
Saturday February 1
09:00 - 10:30 am Official training
11:00 am Men Juniors ( under 18 )
01:00 - 02:30 pm Official training
03:00 pm Women Elite
Sunday February 2
09:00 - 10:30 pm Official training
11:00 am Men under 23
01:00 - 02:30 pm Official training
03:00 pm Men Elite
Finally I have a list of participants, ranked by the UCI ranking so you can immediately see who the favourites are. Only exception is Zdenek Stybar: it's still not 100 % confirmed if he'll be riding, but when he does, he will be a favourite despite his low UCI ranking.

A dry course will certainly be in favor of Van der Haar. |

Yes. Van Der Haar for the title.
If there's mud, it's Nys for sure, I agree. |
