He only has 7 race days this part, without the Tour. He's not even winning anything. |

We went to the Eneco Tour with Jakub Krizan as our leader for the General Classification and Elia Viviani for the sprints. Silvio Pennarossa was our guy for the Time Trial.
We did not have a great race, but Viviani got a few top 10's, while Pennarossa finished 7th in the TT. On the final stage Bodnar got 7th after being in the breakaway the whole day.
Jakub Krizan failed to get a top 10 in the GC, as he lost a lot of time on the hilly stage 6, which was a bit disappointing.

As a preparation to the Vuelta a Espana, we went to Burgos with most of the squad that would be riding the Vuelta. With Damiano Caruso we were looking at stage 5, to get a good finish in the GC. It would however not go to plan as he was not looking good on the final stage and lost a lot of time.
The good news though, was that Daniele Ratto had a great performance. While John Degenkolb was too strong, Ratto finished 2nd twice and got a 6th place too. These results secured him a top 3 finish in the points classification.

We came to Spain with the goal of a stage win. We felt that with the squad we sent, that should be an attainable goal. With Damiano Caruso we also had a rider that we felt could get a top 10 in the GC.
While we tried a lot of times to get that stage win, our riders fell short every time. Especially De Marchi and Moser tried it from the breakaway, but they could only get us a few top 5's and top 10's. Moser also wore the KoM jersey, but did not manage to win it in the end.
Our GC ambitions came to an end quite early on as Caruso already lost a lot of time in the first two weeks. However, he did manage to save a bit of his Vuelta by finishing 20th overall, gaining us a few points. Though he wouldn't have gotten a top 20 finish if Joaquim Rodriguez didn't give up on stage 20.

We were off to Germany for the first of two "sprinter" classics, the Vattenfall Cyclassics. While the parcours offers a possibility for non-sprinters, most of the time the race ends in a bunch sprint. For this reason we came to the race with Elia Viviani as our leader.
With Dall'Antonia going in the breakaway, there was little to do for our team, except for keeping Viviani out of problems. It all went well, but in the end Viviani did not have the legs to compete for the victory and finished a disappointing 17th.

After the disappointing Vattenfall Cyclassics, the same riders went straight to France for the GP de Plouay. We were hoping that our riders would perform better than they did in Germany.
With no rider in the breakaway, everyone was committed to keep Viviani out of trouble. Elia did not find his good legs while travelling though and he did not even manage to get a top 20 this time, finishing 28th.

The first of two one-day races in Canada, the GP de Quebec. Our sponsors expected us to take a top 10. With Peter Sagan we had a top favourite at the start line. When Voeckler attacked with 30 kilometers to go, Sagan went after him, but even though Sagan caught Voeckler, they got pulled back by the peleton not long after. After a few more attacks, only Costa was in front to take a solo victory. After using most of his energy too early, Peter finished 5th for us. While not great, he did make our goal.

After his failed attempt at victory in Quebec, Sagan was looking to do better in Montreal. Once again he attacked way too early and paid for it in the end, when he could not follow Gilbert and Gasparotto. He did however finish 3rd, which is not a bad result at all and gained him a lot of points towards the rider ranking.

After the Tre Valli Varesine, we continue in Italy for Milano - Torino. With the race finishing on a hill, we come here with Moreno Moser as our leader, while Krizan has a free role. While we let Movistar do most of the work in the peleton, we did some work to get the breakaway back. At 15 kilometers to go the peleton split and Krizan was caught behind. Moser was looking good in the front group and he would finish 8th. Rui Costa wins, while a lot of BMC riders got into the top 10 after doing some weird kind of team attack.

With Sagan and Moser on the start line, we were obliged to work in the peleton, even though we had a rider in the break. Though Vandborg gave us a bit of breathing space in the first part of the race. With a little less than 30 kilometers to go and the break in sight, Sagan goes on the attack with Kakhi. After they got pulled back, Team Sky launched an attack with 3 of their riders on the last hill. Luckily Sagan was alert and tagged along. With 10 km to go only Sagan, Kakhi and Uran remain in front. Peter remained patient and waited for the sprint, which he easily won. A great victory for him.

La classica delle foglie morte, Il Lombardia, is the biggest classic in the Fall. The UCI expected us to get a top 10 here, but we were only focused on the win. This race is one of the most important races for us.
With Ratto in the breakaway, we did not have to work in the peleton, besides keeping Sagan at the front. When most of the favourites attacked, Peter couldn't follow, but he used his excellent downhill skills to get back to the front. In the end Gilbert won the sprint of 17 riders. Sagan could have won, but got blocked by Uran and Gilbert. He finished 5th in the end, well inside the top 10.

The last Italian classic of the year is the Giro dell'Emilia. Once again Peter Sagan is our leader again. It will be his last race of the year, except for the World Championship.
We tried to get a rider in the break, but after a few tries from Pennarossa and Dall'Antonia we failed to accomplish that and we had a day of working in the peleton ahead of us. For some reason quite a strong break got allowed, with big names Bardet and Izaguirre. With 20 km to go Nibali attacked and he went on to win the race, while 3 riders of the breakaway took the next spots. Sagan would finish a disappointing 6th. Maybe he did not have great legs, but it was possible to get a better result here.

It is a day for the Time-Trialists and we were looking forward to see how Pennarossa would do against the best of the world. In the end he would finish 3rd, behind Froome and Tuft. An amazing result for the Sanmarinese youngster and we look forward to see how he will do in the World Championship ITT.

Krizan was supposed to ride the Japan Cup as our leader, but problems with his passport meant he could not travel to Japan in time. Krizek replaced him and it turned out not so bad for us. De Marchi took over his spot with ease and finished 4th, which was way better than we expected. Japanese rider Masuda finished last as he was cheered on loudly, which made him slow down.

The last World Tour race of the season, the Tour of Beijing. We came here with 2 leaders, Moser for the General Classification and Viviani for the sprints. Elia was a bit disappointing, only able to sprint on the first stage. He only managed to get a 7th place there. The rest of the race we put everything on Moser and it paid off. While he lost a bit of time on stage 2, a successful break on stage 3 got him a 4th place in the GC. Two more top 10's on the last 2 stages and he secured his position on the GC, meaning this was a great race for our team.
