Story Over
As it turns out my break will be slightly longer than expected. As you well know I play with pcm12. Because of windows 8.1 it no longer functions. Since the computer is not solely owned by me, my family all use it, there is no question of reverting to windows 8. If this story is ever reincarnated it will be in pcm14 or maybe (but unlikely) 13. The same goes for my stages thread. There is a possibility both will start again, maybe even over Christmas, but I find it highly unlikely. I am terribly sorry for everyone who has worked to help me with pcm, particularly The Rider, MasterBlaster and Selwink, as i planned to use their work and pay them back, but now it looks unlikely. I will stay around the site and help as much as I can, but it looks unlikely I'll be around as much, at least for the time being. It's a shame, as despite the poor start I feel this could've went somewhere, and maybe next time it will...
Goodbye from me and Walter.
For now
(At least I can play more lotro now ) |

Goddamit Microsoft!
Sucks, but at least this didn't end due to lack of motivation. Gains a lot of respect and appreciation for that.
Hope you do eventually come back.

Yeah, gaining respect doesn't gain Walter anything though, now I just need a vaguely inventive way to end the story in an RP sense. |

Walter dies? Or less dramatically there's a doping test where somebody swaps his pee sample with Walter's so he tests positive for EPO. This could also be a good lead on if you plan to restart.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of the second, but you're not quite right. |

Sad that this has to end so early.
Maybe Walter crashes, and is so severly injured that he can't race until the 2014 season?

Extract from the Delphi Oracle
Susilo contacted by UCI
The world's favourite Indonesian cyclist Walter Susilo has been approached by the UCI today regarding biological data. The rider is currently a member of United HealthCare pro cycling team, and has started his first season as a neo-pro well, with showings in Qatar, the Tour du Haut Var, and an astonishing performance in his home tour of Indonesia. As we all know the UCI conducts tests on a rider's physical condition to (mostly) combat doping inside the sport.
So far the UCI has decided not to release any information regarding the Susilo situation. This had lead us journalists to fear the worst, that Walter had been using Performance Enhancing Drugs to allow him to make up the ground he needed to turn pro and perform at the highest level. After all his is a very strange story, of coming to cycling late after overcoming some great trauma, it might appear odd even without this news. However just yesterday some light was shined on the dark corner which is the Susilo case. A leak from inside the UCI leaked some vital information.
The investigation is not about doping, or any other performance related area. So what could it be? This has many implications. The first is that this means (probably) that Susilo is clean and his results will stand. The second is far more interesting. This case marks the first time that the UCI has approached a rider in this sense without any relation to doping. So speculation is rife about what this could possibly be about, no wonder the UCI wants to keep it under wraps.
We'll fill you in as we find out more. |

The Conclusion
Today has been a troublesome week for cycling in general, as one of its biggest prospects, Walter Susilo has been wrapped in controversy. As of the time we did not know what it was about, but with cycling's recent history it had to be bad. Then a source leaked the valuable information that this was not about doping. At this moment the UCI chose to leave us in the dark as they attempted to confirm their assumption. As such UCI officials have been with Susilo non stop for several days now, and it is still unbeknownst to us the nature of this case.
That is until today, the day that the UCI has officially have it's verdict on this seemingly never ending case, with about as many conspiracy theories as there are islands in Indonesia! The runner up of the tour if Indonesia will not only keep his results but he can also treat them with a special sense of pride, as he had to go the long way round in life. If his previous life was not already fascinating this particularly chapter adds another layer of depth and amazement to this enigma.
It all started when he was born really, as do many things which determine lives. Susilo had a very rare and minor genetic disorder. It was nothing much at the time and local facilities couldn't detect it. We won't bore you with the details, after all this is a cycling website not a medical discussion, so let's keep it short. The disease affects the blood cells in the body, or rather the bone marrow which creates it. Long story short the bone marrow does not grow enough red blood cells, which, as many of us know, results in anaemia, which is when you cannot get enough oxygen to your body. In this case it is very different though.
At birth this was just a tiny fault or discrepancy that could be written off as a test error. But every time his heart rate had risen (like physical or mental stress/trauma) the difference increases, making this a unique disorder. And we all know that Susilo has had plenty of that, being a professional athlete and survivor of a natural disaster. In fact it is just as well he was found when he was, as the condition was reaching a life threatening illness, which means that soon he could have had a serious problem, maybe even in a race. However, thanks to the hard work of the UCI he was cared for and is now safe in hospital.
However if the UCI are (for once) the good guys in this story, then Susilo's pro team, United Healthcare Pro Cycling, are the bad guys. Rather ironically for their team name the company has released the rider and refused to pay the medical bills. To prevent a rather awkward situation stepping in, local businessman Mr. Hobbit has decided to foot the bill as a close friend of Walter's and a strong supporter of Indonesian cycling.
The treatment that Walter is receiving is contraversial, untested and highly dangerous. As of yet we are unsure if he will come out of it never mind recover. The thing on many fan's mind though will be, When will Walter return to cycling? The answer is we don't know. He may never return, or it could take mere months, it remains to be seen. We are also unsure of his strength on return, he may be cured, but that's not to say he'll be the same on the bike. Meanwhile since it was a blood cell problem he may come back even stronger, but not in Lance Armstrong esque fashion!!! We just don't know, but we promise to keep you informed.
What a star trekky way to end the story |
