Le Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux (2.2)
Stage 3 » Château de Beloeil › Tournai (163.4k/101.6m)
Doull wins final sprint out 30 riders.
And so does the GC. Good win by the Brit.
Tiesj Bennot was super active on this stage gaining 5 seconds on intermediates to move him up to 2nd in GC ( which makes his 7th in the final sprint quite a good place ).
Kirsch rounds off the podium.
Good race. We now move to Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften and Liege Bastogne Liege U23. Circuit des Ardennes coming up too, but its not U23 exclusive race.

Very excited for Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften, and with 6 riders per team, it should be a chaotic race.
Hard to pinpoint favourites. I was chatting to Benoot on twitter and this is one of his targets ( although LBL is far bigger one this spring ). It's not amazingly suited to him, but he should do decently, even though he's not a cobbler.
Other names to look out for would be Zeputkne, Pibernik, Teunnisen, Groenewegen, Zordan, Enger, Dibben, Doull, Ewan.
But if I was going to bet on this race and predict winner - Magnus Cort Nielsen would be the man I would bet.

I'm very curious about what Teunissen can do here. |

I see good chances for Groenewegen here, getting 2nd last year.
Ewan should of course be very strong as well.

I'm no expert on cobbles strenght in the U23's, but I always considered Teunissen to be a man for those races.
Strong engine, good sprint, certainly some nice bike handling as cross WC.

Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften
25 riders came to the finish. There was a crash at the end unfortunately. As always, a tough race. Groenewegen was always the favoruite after his 2nd last year and being a sprinter made it easy for him at the end.
Benoot...! Wow, for a puncheur, he really does have an amzing sprint. Benoot at the moment is reminding me a bit of Gilbert. He can climb relatively well, tt reletaively well, he has veryy good sprint and punch and obviosuly he's favourite terrain are the hilly climbs. LBL U23 big target.
( and make no mistake, this Ronde has few cobbled sections and hills, but is no way showing the cobbled stars of the future - what it shows much more are hilly skills and sprint skills at the end )

Nice win for Groenewegen. For sure a pro team should sign him for next season. |

Btw, thought I'd mention, Paris Roubaix seems to be back in U23 calendar, also these two races:
Paris-Roubaix Espoirs (6/1)
Tour des Pays de Savoie (6/19-22)
Volta a Portugal Futuro (7/17-20)
Although Volta a Portugal runs along Giro Ciclistico della Valle d'Aosta so the fields will be split.
Two races gone from the calendar though:
Thüringen Rundfahrt
Paris-Tours Espoirs

Ronde van Vlaanderen Beloften
Big win for Groenewegen. He's really a big talent, and I can see him picking up more wins this season as well. As long as he doesn't celebrate too early
Ewan DNF, for whatever reason, if you're wondering.

Oh damn. I thought it was held today
Also, regarding Groenewegen, I believe there was interest from Pro Teams even last year, but he decided to stay in CT for now. Unless I'm mixing him up with someone.

@Alakagom: What about La Cote Picardie, could you share your opinion about favourites? Maybe Groenewegen, Ewan, Bertazzo, Magnus Cort, Benoot, Pedersen, Doull, Teunissen. Another one...
I don't know if you have seen Nicolas Marini results in Italian national races, i think he could do a great race in Picardie.
Thanks in advance
Here is the startlist:

English shouldn't be in there, he's got a wrist injury. Javan Nulty has replaced him

Not an expert on U23 races, but I'd like to try a prediction as well
If Ewan is allright, Ewan has a good chance of course. Groenewegen is in a good form as well, and Teunissen is there as well, it seems. Also Enger stands out, with Koch, Doull, Biedermann, Dieteren, Laas & Bertazzo having a chance as well. Lots of riders who could attack as well, would say Benoot, Cort Nielsen or one of the Hoelgaard's. Or looking at the Dutchies, Kerkhof maybe.
Oh, and Slovenië has a good team here as well

Boudat is a big talent in my eyes. World Omnium champion aged 19 a few months back, looks like a Coquard/Demare so interested to see how he does. |

Well it does depend on few things:
Ewan would be a big favourite ( I think he would have won Ronde too btw if not the crash ). However if he is still sore from that crash, it will affect him, depending how he recovered he should do well or drop early, tough to say. If it comes to sprint Groenewegen, Doull, Dieteren, Enger should be the favoruites. Marini could come into play, but that of course depends who is Italy riding for
However ( not knowing the profile yet ) there is few opportunities for attacks as seen in past years where likes of Benoot, Magnus Cort would come in to play. The harder the race, the better chance of Benoot and others punchy guys coming into play here.
It also depends if some riders take it bit easier with LBL on Saturday. Benoot would be one particular, I mean I think he has the ability to win here from select group, but I could also see him taking it easier today and using this ride as last fine tune before the race that suits him the best in the calendar.
So many unknowns which should make for great racing!
Can't believe though that ZLM Tour and LBL U23 are on the same day, what genius thought of that ?
Thx for the startlist btw, was looking for it today and couldn't find it. If by any chance you find a startlist for LBL later in week, please post it here as well if you could
