Tirreno Adriatico: Stage 4.

The team:

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0007ta4.jpg

Report:

Today was a really weird stage. A whole lot of riders tried to escape and the pace was high throughout the whole stage! A lot of riders dropped out of the peloton.
It went on like this for the whole stage, until we reached the last little climb.

Carlos Betancur was the only who could really take a gap there, he’s going towards the last kilometer uphill finish!!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0008ta4.jpg

Samuel Sanchez, Visconti and Gilbert are really close sprinting towards him, but he eventually takes the win! What a smart ride by the Colombian rider!

Laurens Ten Dam takes the 10th place today, considering his form that is pretty good and he’s slowly moving up in the GC. He’s now 2:16 behind the new leader, Betancur. He lost some time in one of the earlier stages, but we are confident he’ll gain some time back!

Tirreno Adriatico: Stage 5.

Profile:

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0001ta5.jpg

The team:

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0002ta5.jpg

Report:

Today is a nice stage for Mollema to try out his legs, he is still in training for the hilly classics and he joins the BOTD. He’s together with:

F. Taborre (VIN)
F. Aru (AST)
C. Knees (SKY)
K. Fernández (GRS)
M. Ladagnous (FDJ)
L. Bak (LTB)

It was a bit of a struggle to get away because Bak is 8th in the GC, but they finally got away. Mollema is taking it easy as he doesn’t have to ride for a good GC place and Bak does a lot more work.

With about 30 kilometers to go another couple of guys attack in the pursuit of the breakaway:

B. Jungels (RLT)
M. Scarponi (LAM)
S. Langeveld (OGE)
P. Sagan (CAN)

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0003ta5.jpg

With about 15 kilometers to go they join, and Mollema tries to ride away!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0004ta5.jpg

But he can’t get away and eventually Sagan and Jungels join him, they are still in front and are going to sprint for the win! Normally Sagan is the strongest by far, but Jungels just flies past him and our Dutchman! He wins here and is now 1st in the GC! Sagan takes 2nd and Mollema takes a nice 3rd place after being out of energy for the last sprint.

Stage 6 was a really, really tough mountain stage and I would really want to ride it, but the stupid thing just skipped the race when I clicked next race... It really sucks as the GC is now decided. A bit frustrated I simulated the last sprint stagePfft.

Yeah, that mountain stage would be a real shake up, it's so frustrating that I couldn't race itSad.

The team:

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0007MS.jpg

Report:

As the hills are most likely too much for Bos, we aim for a victory with one of our punchers. We got a breakaway after about 50 kilometers of attacking, they were off for a 250 km journey!

These were the four brave ones:

P. Longo-Borghini (CAN)
B. Bookwalter (BMC)
P. Urtasun (EUS)
S. Puccio (SKY)

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0011MS.jpg

They got a pretty big lead, but the peloton never let them get out of reach and with 41km to go, the first favorite decided to attack!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0009MS.jpg

The first brave one to attack is Cancellara, a couple of others including Tom Boonen and Langeveld try it aswell, but they get caught.

This goes on for about 20 kilometers and meanwhile the breakaway gets caught. With 21 kilometers to go Slagter decides to attack! He gets Flecha and Langeveld with him!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0010MS.jpg

When we reach the Poggio, Slagter dropped the other two; he is the first one to start ascending the famous Poggio!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM008MS.jpg

But there’s one Norish storm coming from the back, a real powerhouse is making his way to Slagter and immediately attacks when he gets there!

He goes into the descend alone and Slagter gets joined by an elitegroup. The norish storm is obviously Boasson Hagen, he was already brilliant in Paris-Nice and now he continues his form!

He’s alone with only 3 kilometers to go and 20 seconds lead, he will definitely make it!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0012MS.jpg

He wins before Goss and the others!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0013MS.jpg

Goss easily wins the sprint for the 2nd place, Slagter sprints to a 11th place, just outside of the top 10… Unfortunate for our Dutch talent, but he rode really well today nonetheless!
I exported the result but I get a bug when I try to open and it doesn’t open…Sagan sprints to the second place in the 22 men group.

Nordhaug is the first to finish next in 23rd place, 30th goes to Bos and 31st to Martens.

Team:

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0003CA1.jpg

Report:

We are coming here to build up some form for Kelderman, and we’ll try to win the GC with Ten Dam. In the first stage we have a pretty big breakaway:

D. Vanendert (LTB)
S. Firsanov (RVL)
M. Delage (FDJ)
M. Pinotti (BMC)
J. Aramendia (CJR)
A. Vicioso (KAT)
D. Rebellin (CCC)

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0004CA1.jpg

This went on until we reached the climb of the 1st category. Kelderman decided to try his legs and set an extreme pace!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0005CA1.jpg

In no time a whole lot of riders dropped! The peloton was left with only about 50 men, unfortunately the climb was a bit too short to drop more people. But guys like Van den Broeck already lost a lot of time!
Into the descend we are about to catch the breakaway, this happens at the last climb, of the 3rd category. A lot of attacks here but Slagter and Ten Dam ride their own pace and suddenly find themselves in front with 3 kilometers to go!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0006CA1.jpg

When we go into the sprint they are blown away by Ventoso, who does a great job here winning the first stage of this year’s Volta Cyclista Catalunya! Second place goes to Ponzi and 3rd goes to Elmiger. Ten Dam does a good job taking the 4th place. Unfortunately the screen again didn’t latch on…Pfft

Stage 2:

Team:

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0007CA2.jpg

Report:

Today was a fairly easy stage, we don’t expect big time gaps and I think it will be a sprint finish today. The last hill is too far away from the finish to make real gaps.
We got a pretty nice BOTD today:

R. Pauriol (SOJ)
A. Roux (FDJ)
V. Reynès (LTB)
D. Pietropolli (LAM)
V. Isaychev (KAT)
P. Bilbao (EUS)

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0008CA2.jpg

Our predictions came true, the break was caught and we are heading towards the last climb. The climb is not tough enough to make big enough gaps and we’re going to sprint with a whole bunch of riders left!
This time it is Michel Kreder who is the strongest sprinter! Yesterday’s winner, Ventoso, takes 2nd today and 3rd goes to Simon Clarke. Our best rider is Slagter with the 7th place today!

i1112.photobucket.com/albums/k486/timodesigns1/PCM0009CA2.jpg

We still have three riders with no time loss:
Ten Dam
Kruiswijk
Slagter

There is a 43 men group with no time gaps, but tomorrow that’ll all change, it will be a very tough day!

Unfortunately he lost 1 minute in the first stage, after pushing himself really hard on that last climbWink. But his form is not good enough to win here, he's only here to build form.
