Knew one stage would be a break, and i predicted to myself it would be stage one... same things in MFS.
The GC winner is likely to come from that group, and Bagdonas is going to be hard to beat

Hmm... De Kort is slightly stronger on the hills than Bagdonas, but Bagdonas is a bit better TTist...
Interesting what the AI does in stage 3. Maybe Bagdonas will be working for Gasparotto in stage 3, while ING didn't send a real hilly leader, so De Kort(and Lindeman) are free to go. I hope my prediction is correct

Perfect start for Pervyj! Not happy for a Bagdonas win without the NC jersey, but the yellov jersey tomorrow will be just as nice!
Not that I care much, but how did Siutsou lose time on this stage? |

Awesome racing from Bardet Would have been better if it was Jungels or Izagirre in the break though, since Bardet can't TT at all |

Well for the NC-jersey it's explained by the fact that he's not NC at the start of 2012 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_nat...mpionships
Didn't actually notice Siutsou losing contact, but there were no crashes at all, so he must just have had a really bad day...

sutty: You have every right to be. Your team was in fact the only team that did absolutely nothing as they were neither in the break not helped in front of the peloton at any point after the first 10 km...

Don't worry Sutty, my team was doing nothing in TDU until suddenly Gilbert won, Devenyns top 10 and the rest closeby for the yellow jersey and the team ranking!
But now they're back to doing nothing..
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Great effort by Andrew today, I really like to see him attacking aggressively and the 12th is quite good for him. |

Actually you'd have come second, Ulriksson rides for me, and he won the sprint behind the break

Volta ao Algarve
Stage 2: Lagoa - Lagos
A lot of riders will not be looking forward to a long day in the rain.
Sousa (TAP) is first to attack. Many try to join, but Pervyj is defending their jersey right from the start.
On the top of the first hill 10 riders have pulled 2 minutes away from the peloton. Roux (CAT) takes the sprint ahead of Vichot (MAG) and Burghardt (NAC). Also in the group Duggan (CSC), Rowe (TCW), Sousa (TAP), Faiers (ITV), Pires (TAP), Clarke (AXA) and Brändle (RBM).
Another KOM and an extremely close sprint. Rowe takes it ahead of Duggan and Pires.
The group now has 4’20’’ to the peloton.
The wet roads are tricky and Soler end up taking a closer look at the tarmac.
In the break the sprint goes uncontested to Brändle followed by Faiers and Rowe.
The group has just over 6 minutes to the peloton with 120 km to go. Soler continues to lose time to the peloton at the moment.
Rowe is looking strong today as he takes the last KOM ahead of Burghardt and Faiers.
101 km to go and a gap of 7’50’’. Soler is back in the pack.
77 km to go. Another sprint goes uncontested to Brändle followed by Rowe and Faiers.
The peloton is now 7’04’’ behind with SGL doing all the work.
40 km and the gap is down to 3’36’’. Looks like a bunch sprint, but Rowe will be happy with the mountain jersey.
Right when the speed is really starting to go up Alex Fischer has a puncture. Not much chance for him to be getting back.
20 km left. 2’15’’ behind the break we have Wynants (ING), another minute behind him Mosquera (TCS) and 40 seconds behind him the peloton. Looks like Pervyj is not strong enough to finish the job by themselves.
Had there been any people on the route with 17 km to go they would have cheered massively as homeboy Sousa attacks from the break.
10 km to go. Sousa 30’’ ahead of the break, who has 2 minutes to Wynants, 3 minutes to Mosquera and four minutes to the peloton, where more riders are staring to attack.
3 km left for Sousa. Nothing much has changed.
Brändle is leading the break into the final two km.
Rowe and Roux give it all they’ve got with 1,1 km to go.
But too late to catch Sousa!
Wynats and Mosquera both manage to win some time on the peloton as Ulriksson again wins the pelotons sprint.
