Jseadog, can you put that in a spoiler?
Anyways, Jimmy Howard shouldn't have been on the team, even though I'm a Wings fan. Also, wanted to see Bobby Ryan and Brandon Saad on the team. JVR probably only made the team because of his chemistry with Kessel.
Overall, I think the forwards are very strong, they could go stride for stride with Canada. Defensively they are very weak though, and they would still be a long shot to make it to the finals.
They would need quite the performance from Ryan Miller.

Wow. Right when I say Howard doesn't deserve to be on the Olympic team, what happens, he puts in a monster performance and starts to look like his old self. Offense was good tonight but that was clearly because of Dallas' HORRIBLE passing.

Jagr will win it for Czech Republic!
Shame that stupid asshole D.Brown probably ended the season of out young star Hertl with knee on knee check fe weeks ago.
His first olympics and possibly a Calder trophy are gone.

Would you stop complaining about checks...it's part of the game.

Knee on knee resulting in six months injury for most talented rookie of 2013/14 is not a part of the game i want to see. And it is not the first time when D.Brown did that...

To be honest, there are two principles fundamentally wrong with your post.
1) It doesn't matter if you injure the most talented player, that doesn't make your offense worse.
2) Suspensions and punishments should be judged by the nature of the hit, not the extent of the resulting injury.

1)I agree here, i am obviously pissed as it is my favourite player and first czech who had potential to win the Calder trophy. Also he will miss the Olympics. At the same time, i saw too many good players injured by those who are not so good players, but play hard. Helping yourself with treacherous plays, because you are not so good as your opponents should not be tolerated.
2) I agree again, but we all know that knee on knee tackles result almost every time in very serious injuries and can end careers. Same with hits on head. Both should not be tolerated in any way...

First, when Brown sees Tomas Hertl he is the puck handler, so he has a right to go after him.
After Hertl makes the pass, Brown attempts to finish the check, which is legal. At the moment before the collision, it is apparent that Hertl moves outside(towards brown), then decides to pull his body back inside whilst his leg is still stuck out.
Throughout the process, Brown's path of travel is consistent. His leg does not stick out towards Hertl, and even right before the collision Brown makes an attempt to avoid the collision by moving to his left.
You cannot deduce from the video that the hit was intentional. He was aiming to finish the check (which is legal), but their knees just happened to collide. There is no indication that Brown was aiming deliberately for a knee check.
About knee tackles, it's the same dilemma that the NFL faces. Concussions are No.1 priority for both leagues, so you cannot aim high. If now you say you can't aim low then the target becomes too small.

I dont agree, but that is all i can do. Obviosuly injuring the players by stupid checks is okay for you, so hard to discuss it further.

Btw. nr. 68 passed his mentor M.Lemieux and is now 7th in all time points list. 31 points to catch Steve Y, that would be my favourite player of all time passing the 2nd most favourite player of all time.
But that will most likely need one more season for Jagr.
1. W. Gretzky 2857 (894+1963)
2. M. Messier 1887 (694+1193)
3. G. Howe 1850 (801+1049)
4. R. Francis 1798 (549+1249)
5. M. Dionne 1771 (731+1040)
6. S. Yzerman 1755 (692+1063)
7. J. Jágr 1724 (694+1030)
8. M. Lemieux 1723 (690+1033)

It's not a question of whether it's "okay" for me or not. I am simply discussing based on what is a legal check in NHL rules to determine whether that deserves a suspension.

Too injury prone...if he doesn't get hurt so much the Penguins would have traded Malkin already.

No way.
Crosby had one season where he was injured for most of it. Jagr was away from the NHL for a few seasons, and every (mostly) full year Crosby is healthy he is going to be at/near the top of the league in every offensive category.
edit: However now that I look at it, Jagr really did have a lot of years over 100 points and if Crosby is healthy he is pretty much around or above the 100 points mark but in the current NHL I dont think we will be seeing players go 120+ consistently.
I dont see why Pittsburgh would ever trade away someone like Malkin either. I think what is more likely is if they need to get below the cap they can always trade away Letang who some people rate and some people dont. He's not the best defensive player and with the offense that Crosby+Kunitz and Malkin+Neal are making its not like they absolutely need it from him. Plus Pittsburgh has two great Offensive defenseman prospects in Derrick Pouliot and Olli Maatta (Maatta is playing for them this year)
As for Crosby reaching the top of that list? I dont think in the current era of NHL that anyone would be able to reach what Wayne got no matter how good they are.

I am not going to argue with a Canadian about hockey. Either way I am bound to be wrong.
Anyways I am interested to see what happens in the offseason as they have a lot of players to re-sign
And Crosby is gonna need something like 7 or 8 more 100 point seasons to top Jagr. (Actually I'm not sure about his career stats, just a guess)

All Im saying is its a bit funny to write him off. None of us can predict the future. He may never get injured again. And if he doesn't he's going to get a heck of a lot of points. And the bit about trading Malkin.
If you look at the time Jagr was away from the NHL that is still more time away than what Crosby spent injured, but Jagr had the advantage of playing in the Old NHL.
Crosby is at ~700 points and we've got to keep in mind Jagr might play a couple more seasons still.
Anyway, Pittsburgh is one of those teams that always makes me wonder "how are they possibly under the salary cap"

I am just curious, are you a Winnipeg Jets fan?
Spoiler I highly doubt it since they are such a new team but I just wanted to ask
