Krisa: Thanks!

Daggen & sutty68: Oh mother of all life Shock Pfft

the_hoyle: Thanks, we'll try our best Wink

JuanMotr: What Bart does best, just get on the bike and face those kilometers all himself, complete concentration and the skill to finish it off Wink Thanks for the banana!

rogvi97: I'm honored that you read it again Smile Thanks a lot!

I might have the weekend off, so there's a chance I'll be able to play Saturday! Sunday will be harder, so I'll definitely try to do a report on Saturday! (gosh, what a major difference from only weeks ago, my life changed completelyPfft)

sutty68
You have to look at it like this ''Has your life changed for the better or not'' Wink

Ian Butler
Well, since it actually became a life instead of doing nothing all day long, I guess it's a change for the better Grin
Though I did enjoy all the time on PCM Daily Pfft But still try to pop in here a couple of times a day Wink

So glad to hear that

Don't give up on PCM though, we'd all miss you Wink

Ian Butler
Thanks, sutty. Your support is truly great Wink

Well, guys, I would have some great news but it turned out to be bad news, here it is:

I just raced the second race of West-Vlaanderen and got an amazing result. It looked way too easy. Then I thought, maybe the difficulty is still on normal (I'd raced a race on normal to test a database) instead of hard. Turned out, for some reason, it was on easy Frown
So you want me to do the report, raced on easy, or you want me to make up some "injury" story or something, or use a weekly save, but I think the prologue would have to be re-raced as well?

dienblad
Ah, now I know how you win everything, you cheat WinkCool

Happens to everybody, had it once before in my story.....

Forget the mistake, just make the report, and then switch to hard again.

don't do a injury story, I would do the easy report. a extremly good result one in a while is good too

Jesleyh
Yeah, use the easy report. Every cyclist has one/two great days in a year Wink
Spoiler
Except Pate, he's got 365 per year Grin

Thanks for the fast replies, will do the easy report Smile
Turned it right back to hard again Pfft

I think PCM really likes me it decides to change the difficulty level unnoticed, so that I'll feel good about myself Grin

Driedaagse van West- Vlaanderen - Stage 2

This looks like a very tough profile. Add the fact that Frank Deboosere (celebrity weatherman in Belgium) predicted some rain and we're in for a hard day... Which is exactly what both of us need to defend that leader's jersey. Growing up in West-Flanders has its advantages at times like these.

Going from Brugge to Bellegem, we're riding through our backyard today. Let's show our fans something!

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv01.jpg

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/Jan.jpg

I spend most of the day protecting Bart. It's his very first race in his entire career as a leader, so I don't mind putting myself in the background for him. I don't think I could've done anything here today, anyway!

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv02.jpg

At Bart's request, I put the "Pro" in "Provisional winner". I took Bart on my tail and rode at 100% for 25km straight.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv04.jpg

However, I couldn't keep doing that, naturally. The pack was chasing hard and when I started slowing down, he thanked me and went on a solo.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv05.jpg

In the end, I will "sprint" to a 35th place, but surprisingly that sufficed for the Young Jersey!

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv09.jpg

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/Bart.jpg

I was protected fairly well all day long. It makes me glad to see the respect the guys have for me. My own brother worked the hardest of all. Though Julien Vermote's amazing effort should be mentioned, too.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv03.jpg

I felt really good, and I knew I couldn't count on my sprint, so at 40km from the finish, I pushed Jantje to start riding real hard. I have to say, I'm real proud of him today. The way he took me for a long, hard ride was very brilliant. He'll become a very strong rider one day, I can see it already.

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv04.jpg

I kept on going and after a while, Jantje had to let me go. I was left with what I normally did best: just me and my bike and a long way ahead of me. "Bring it on," I thought!

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv06.jpg

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv07.jpg

Experienced De Waele came close, but I fought him off, barely! I couldn't believe it, and I still can't. I'm taking my second consecutive victory! And to think my previous win dates from about 2010, a local criterium...

i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh490/IanButlerPCM/rvv08.jpg

It's fair to say that my winter of hard work has payed off! Last year I was plagued by some injuries and ended the season in August due to a broken shoulder, but it looks like I'm making up for that now! This is amazing, I'm holding three jerseys and tomorrow's a fairly flat stage. Here's the provisional standings:

Because the final kilometers were solo, and three of the mountain sprints where near the end, I take that jersey as well!

Best Team:: Rabobank Cycling Team

I'm obviously in a great shape, and I hope I'm not peaking too early. Supporting Tom in the classics will be more important than this!

Tomorrow's a flat stage, and both Matteo and Jantje will get the chance to show how much they're worth in the sprint! I might even lead my little brother out, that might be fun. So stay tuned, I might just win my first stage race ever!
