Stage 6 Giro D'Italia
So today we have the first stage were things can heat up. 206km with two 3rd category and two 2nd category climbs, and a short ascent real close to the finish and several other smaller climbs. Today is a day where the GC guys must beware not to lose time. Some of them have already lost time and on the flat.
With 40 km to go, the race is completely broke into pieces. The leaders group only have 20 men, in front there are several small groups of riders and behind there's a 26 men group. CA Sorensen, Rabottini and Pelizotti are in front with 4 and half minutes on the leaders group, where Movistar has all the team.
Chris Anker Sorensen wins the stage alone! What a day for him. Almost all of his break mates have been caught.
Pelizotti is 2nd, and Gasparotto beats Visconti on the sprint for 3rd. Great stage by Movistar with 4 men on top 10 of the stage.
Stage Results
1 Chris Anker Sørensen Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank 5h35'15
2 Franco Pellizotti Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela + 41
3 Enrico Gasparotto Astana Pro Team + 1'01
4 Giovanni Visconti Movistar Team s.t.
5 Nairo Quintana Movistar Team s.t.
6 Rinaldo Nocentini AG2R La Mondiale s.t.
7 Kanstantsin Siutsou Sky Procycling s.t.
8 Michele Scarponi Lampre - ISD s.t.
9 Beñat Intxausti Movistar Team s.t.
10 Marzio Bruseghin Movistar Team + 1'28
General Classification
1 Kanstantsin Siutsou Sky Procycling 19h52'48
2 Giovanni Visconti Movistar Team + 21
3 Beñat Intxausti Movistar Team + 42
4 Daniel Martin Garmin - Sharp + 49
5 Marzio Bruseghin Movistar Team + 1'04
6 Andrey Amador Movistar Team + 1'05
7 Nairo Quintana Movistar Team + 1'07
8 Franco Pellizotti Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela + 1'25
9 Michele Scarponi Lampre - ISD + 1'29
10 Chris Anker Sørensen Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank + 2'06
So with 5 men on the top 10, Movistar Team has an amazing start of the Giro. The next 2 mountain stages will determine who will be fighting for this year's Giro. |

Stage 7 Giro D'Italia
The first mountain finish should mark a difference between favorites. It should be hard for Movistar keep several riders on the front, so choices must be made today.
From the list of favorites only these riders are in conditions to still discuss the Giro:
9. Michele Scarponi Lampre - ISD 1'29
13. Chris Froome Sky Procycling 3'18
16. Mikel Nieve Euskaltel - Euskadi 3'29
17. Thomas De Gendt Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team 3'36
23. Ryder Hesjedal Garmin - Sharp 4'42
31. Jakob Fuglsang RadioShack - Nissan 6'35
With 50km to go the 5 men break of the day has an advance of 3'22. But there are other two intermediate groups, the first group is 50 seconds behind with Betancurt (3'58), Vanendert (4'27), Uran (18'37) and Talansky (29'40) and the second with Nocentini(4'12), Dupont (5'42) and Kiserslovski (7'29), 58 seconds behind and almost 2 minutes ahead of the peloton.
In front of the peloton Lampre is leading the chase, as the pink jersey team, Sky has Uran escaped.
As we start the last 20km ascent to the finishing line, Movistar have joined the front and the last group was caught and the first two escapee groups are now together with just 1'13 on the peloton.
With just 9km to go a lot of riders try to join the only survival of the break, Uran, but Amador's high pace makes it really hard. His effort is also shortening the peloton back there.
And the overall leader attacks with 6.6km to go! Almost everybody follows...
As we enter the last km, Uran is still on the front, yesterday's winner CA Sorensen, is 2nd and Quintana tries to attack. Still a large number of riders with the pink jersey.
And Uran wins the stage! And a 49 men group arrives with 29 seconds to Uran. Bruzeghin was 6th, Quintana was 9th and Intxausti was 12th, but also Amador, Visconti and Arroyo arrived with the group, so Movistar should keep their top 10 places.

Stage 8 Giro D'Italia
Another mountain round on this Giro fight. Yesterday wasn't a day of differences as expected but today, the profile suggests an intense combat.
So we start today's report with the 6 men break of the day, the dangerous is Dupont (11'22). De Greef, Popovych, Failly and C. Meier are the others, and they now have 3'44 on the peloton (they had a maximum of 9 minutes before Sky started to chase). A few km ago Cadel Evans showed up and left the peloton with Brambilla and they now have an advance of 1'27. 80km to go.
With 30km to go Steven Kruijswijk attacks. He is still a dangerous man to GC, being at 6'56 from Siutsou. Failli is the only man left from the break as Movistar has worked a lot and we also see Wiggins working in front.
So we start the 2nd category ascent with a peloton of 91 men, all the guys of top 10 are there. There is still 5 km between the end of the climb and the end of the stage, with a small descent and a very light ascent.
Intxausti has fallen! As Amador was setting the pace high, the team now stoped and it doesn't look good.
With the end of the climb just 1.5km ahead the 4 Movistar riders (Quintana, Bruseghin, Visconti and Amador) are trying their best to keep connected, as Intxausti is trying to get back to the front. De Gendt have left the main group and is now alone on the front.
And De Gendt takes the win. Movistar now has a trio with Visconti, Bruseghin and Quintana trying to reach the main group.
And Quintana and Bruseghin arrive with about 2 minutes on De Gendt. The race leader arrived with the 25 men group 41 seconds behind De Gendt.
Stage Results
1 Thomas De Gendt Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team 5h51'38
2 Michele Scarponi Lampre - ISD + 41
3 Daniel Martin Garmin - Sharp s.t.
4 Rinaldo Nocentini AG2R La Mondiale s.t.
5 Thibaut Pinot FDJ - BigMat s.t.
6 Eros Capecchi Liquigas - Cannondale s.t.
7 Jakob Fuglsang RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
8 Kanstantsin Siutsou Sky Procycling s.t.
9 Jurgen Van den Broeck Lotto Belisol Team s.t.
10 Sandy Casar FDJ - BigMat s.t.
27 Nairo Quintana Movistar Team + 1'55
28 Marzio Bruseghin Movistar Team s.t.
29 Giovanni Visconti Movistar Team s.t.
32 Andrey Amador Movistar Team + 3'46
36 Beñat Intxausti Movistar Team s.t.
General Classification
1 Kanstantsin Siutsou Sky Procycling 31h25'52
2 Daniel Martin Garmin - Sharp + 33
3 Michele Scarponi Lampre - ISD + 1'17
4 Franco Pellizotti Androni Giocattoli - Venezuela + 1'25
5 Giovanni Visconti Movistar Team + 1'35
6 Chris Anker Sørensen Team Saxo Bank - Tinkoff Bank + 1'54
7 Marzio Bruseghin Movistar Team + 2'18
8 Nairo Quintana Movistar Team + 2'21
9 Matteo Rabottini Farnese Vini - Selle Italia s.t.
10 Thomas De Gendt Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team + 2'35
11 Chris Froome Sky Procycling + 3'18
12 Thibaut Pinot FDJ - BigMat + 3'24
13 Mikel Nieve Euskaltel - Euskadi + 3'29
14 Beñat Intxausti Movistar Team + 3'47
15 Andrey Amador Movistar Team + 4'10
16 Rinaldo Nocentini AG2R La Mondiale + 4'12
17 Damiano Cunego Lampre - ISD + 4'24
18 Jelle Vanendert Lotto Belisol Team + 4'27
19 Eros Capecchi Liquigas - Cannondale + 5'57
20 Carlos Betancur Acqua & Sapone + 6'12
When the tactic of Movistar was keeping the team together a fall has made the team show their weakness. Although the team have three on the top 10 (sponsors goal), maybe chosing just one leader and supporting him would be better to achieve the final objective. |

Stage 9 Giro D'Italia
For sure today Movistar will keep their riders on the top 10, and their teams classification lead as today's race profile is pretty flat. Let's see what Ventoso, the team sprinter can do.
And Impey took the win. There was a big mess, and Movistar had their train broken and Ventoso was late to get to the final sprint.
Stage Results
1 Daryl Impey Orica - GreenEdge 4h39'51
2 Tyler Farrar Garmin - Sharp s.t.
3 Fabio Sabatini Liquigas - Cannondale s.t.
4 Kris Boeckmans Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team s.t.
5 Sacha Modolo Colnago - CSF Inox s.t.
6 Borut Božic Astana Pro Team s.t.
7 Manuel Belletti AG2R La Mondiale s.t.
8 Elia Favilli Farnese Vini - Selle Italia s.t.
9 Nacer Bouhanni FDJ - BigMat s.t.
10 Arnaud Demare FDJ - BigMat s.t.
On GC everything is the same on the top 20.
Meanwhile, Amgen Tour de California has started, we'll post any thing special that happens there, although the team took a 2nd line roster. |

Hi dear followers. Due to my lack of time, i'm playing just 1 stage per day. Although i'm enjoying Movistar performance, i'll be focusing on Agostinho races, because this story is all about him, so i'm simulating most of the races where he is not participating.
I'll post some results i get or that the team gets simulating, but i want to advance my story.
Hope you understand...
