I'm usually horribly bad at this game, so I was pleasantly surprised when I managed to win the Premier League pretty easily with United and make it to the Champions League final where I was leading by 1-0 vs. Barcelona when the game crashed (lost the restart).
2nd season, not as good - was in the race for the title until the last round, but didn't do particularly well in anything else.
3rd season - disaster and was fired after 11 games in PL, handing the team over in 11th position.
So the game is back to normal for me  |

Actually I was very bad in this game for several months but just found now a grip at the game.
But actually 1. FC Köln is a diffrent team than Manchester United but still not an easy task in the beginning because the team is in financial struggle in the beginning and needs to promote as soon as you can.
I guess there is some 2nd season slump, you need some changes like trying to get other players even if they are as good as and probably making some small changes in the tactics as I think after a season the opponents counter yours pretty well if you aren't taking changes at all in all the seasons.
Also if you are once in a morale slump you might need more often try to get the morale high up via speaking with your players. I think as long as a superb team has got a good morale they play decent. But if they have okish morale they play like they just started playing football.
But it is weird that I just got recently into the game pretty well, before I could take any team and I was bad. So I stopped playing it. Tried it after months again and somehow I am at my save game so good like never ever before XD

2012/13 2nd league 1st, Cup final (losing against Bayern)
2013/14 1st league 13th, Cup semi final (losing against Bayern), Euro League 1st Knockout round (losing against Anji Ma..)
2014/15 1st league 7th, Cup winner (winning against Stuttgart)
2015/16 1st league 5th, Cup 3rd round (losing against Bremen), Euro League 1st Knockout round (losing against Chelsea)
2016/17 1st league 8th, Cup quarter final (losing against Bayern), Euro League 1st Knockout round (losing against Tottenham)
2017/18 1st league 10th, Cup 2nd round (losing against Bayern)
2018/19 1st league 6th, Cup quarter final (losing against Gladbach)
The last season was crazy. I somehow got the best start ever in a season since the 2nd league and was after the first half of the season 2nd. But afterwards somehow got into a slump, I have no idea why and slipped down to 6th.
Well my team is not really worth mentioning as I guess the only player everyone could know is Coutinho who I bought from Bayern and Babel who I took from the free agents just as a back-backup, can't believe he just wanted 200k per year 
But I guess FM2014 could be better as they simplfied the tactics by giving your players the "shouts" like hold up the ball or play simple passes etc. instead of those weird sliders with 1-2 clicks more or less and I couldn't see any diffrence..
I hope that there might be more possibilites to play like Dortmund does etc. as I think it's not really possible. In a 4-2-3-1 system with offensive wingers they don't really check behind like they normally should, probably Podolski mode giving absolutely nothing to check back..

@Rin: Do you mean the EA Sports FM2013/14 or the Sega Football Manager 2013?
I never really was into the Sega Manager to be honest. But I consider to buy the 2014 version this year and might try to play with Bremen better than in real life.  |

Actually if you would know that EAs manager is outside Germany even smaller than PCM.. So I just can mean here Football Manager and not FIFA Manager

True. Just wasn`t sure as the Sega Manager is just as small inside Germany.
And not in German language I think.

Thanks to the DFB/DFL dishing out exclusive licenses for the national team and Bundesliga.
So forbidding any game released here that simulate the 1st and (or) 2nd Bundesliga plus recreating a national team. Ok PES also got the licenses but just for the national team.
Also weird that the FIFA Manager 14 will come out soon and otherwise than editing the text mode no one has an idea what they do there.. Probably the beginning of the end even in Germany their homebase..

Actually I am having an absolutely amazing career with Iceland's team named Grindavik. I am already in year 2024 and it is seriously the best save I ever played in FM series and I am playing it sice FM2006.

Well, yes. Absolutely amazing journey. I had qualified into main stage of Champions League 7 years in a row. 1 time I got into First knock-out round, 2 times I got into QF of Europa League. But seriously, my last season was just amazing.
The quality of my team went insanely up. I was semi-proffesional team at the start with Ł200k value of my club with a really small old stadium and almost non-existant facilities and I started in the second domestic league. Now we have top facilities, brand new 16.5k stadium which is sold-out for almost every game and the value of my club went to Ł50M. Wage budget? Ł2k -> Ł225k. I have Ł30M on my club budget. And so on...
I am totally dominating domestic competitions, but everything is improving right now, as second club to follow my Grindavik in Iceland football - Keflavik, who just got proffesional, thankfully to getting right into Europa League Group stage. And, well the quality of league went absolutely amazingly up, from around 140th place to 13th in Euro competitions rankings and in coefficients from 40th place to 14th place, so Iceland now has 2 places for CL.
And this is my squad of regens. The best of them, named Gerardo Diaz can have IMO CA/PA somewhere around 150-160.
All I want to do know is to produce more domestic players for my squad and keep the squad with high amount of domestic players and keep Scandinavian core of the squad. Well, and I want to try to improve the league (I will maybe try to help other teams to get pro) and NT to the highest possible place in the world. And surely, win the CL a few times and try to become the biggest team on this planet.

That sounds a lot like my FM07 career with Neuchâtel Xamax. Sadly, the dynamic league reputation didn't exist back then, so it was incredibly hard to improve the team, and it took me like 20 years to win the UEFA Cup, but it was awesome.
Now I gotta start another Lower League career, dammit.

Ok, did I fail a patch or something? Cause in every single game I have an injured player wich has made me stop playing and getting back to the old, good, FM10. Went back, installed it last week. Started a carrer, 1st friendly, 4 players out by injury. Is there a patch that can fix this? |
