Yup, but that's because everyone's fitness is bad then, but that's exactly my point. You can make sure your fitness is a tad better, let's say in the 80s easily. You don't need a Tour-fitness in the Vuelta, simply because the AI's fitness is much, much worse.
My riders had a 95-98 fitness value in the last weak of Vuelta. I made a fitness training plan where Vuelta was an objective. As you see, the difference between Schelck's fitness and my riders' fitness was more than 20 points.
But did you actually check what was Schleck's fitness or are you just guessing? 20 points surely should make him perform much worse than your riders.
And Ian, the point about the favorites fitness being terrible in the Vuelta also depends on the DB you're using

Andy Schleck had 114 race days. After 95 race days the race fitness is 0. So Andy had surely a 0 race fitness. |

In order to give myself a challenge, I've the small Belarussian Belavia team to the database, consisting of all (8) unemployed riders from Belarus. Despite of an unhappy sponsor with ridiculous goals, we got ourselves a really nice race program, taking the team from Oman to Langkawi, Taiwan, Italy, Russia, America, France etc...
Tour of Oman started decently with a 12th place in the GC for Samoilau. Langkawi went even better when Samoilau took the stage and the leader's jersey at Cameron Highlands by attacking in the descent after failing to make a difference uphill. Next day we lost the jersey due to a breakaway and tactical mistakes saw Larsson (IAM) taking the stage and the lead on Genting Highlands with only flat stages to go. However, by playing a smart tactical race, Samoilau could easily snatch enough bonus seconds to reclaim the leader's jersey and win the race. It's shocking how weak the AI is in avoiding such trouble, but I'm sure this career is going to be a lot of fun.
Now I only should think about whether I want to be promoted to PCT or not... would hate not to be able to ride the Russian x.2 races anymore, for example. |

No. But it depends on the rider involved and his fitness training plan. |

Out of the ashes of Team Blanco, came team Coca Cola. This is how team looks at the start of 2015 (using pcmdaily 2013 beta db) Part of me doesnt want to play it because it looks to strong.. part of me wants to try to win TDF with Rolland

it´s definitely not impossible, but usually one considers TDF the most important GT coz of the price money involved and the status. so a lot of players doesn´t wanna risk a rider being in bad form for the TDF in order to win the Giro. I made C.A Sörensen (76 MO ride both giro and the tour and his form were significantly lower than those riders that hadn´t done the giro. Not huge, but a large impact given the fact that 6-7 points is a lot during a GT and a mountain stage,
speaking of winning lots of GT, there was one guy on this forum that managed to win all the GT: s in one season. he had a story as well I think. How did he do it? |

Why? I like themed teams. Those are nice challenges. IK tried a colombian climbing team for years.
Now I'm about to try a sprinters team, preferably with only brazilians/argentinians |

I agree.. themed teams are fun.. i get way more enjoyment out of mtn stages than flats.. most flats are x8 for 90% whereas a good mtn stage really need to work for the win.
Between Martens, Slagter, Boom and Sagan i think there are plenty of options for 1 day races.
Started another career with IAM cycling... really REALLY enjoying playing as that team.. Haussler won Kurne-Brussel-Kurne, Dwars door Vlandaren, Nokere Koerse and VDK Driedaagse. Really good challenging team for Continental div |

My Ag2r career is still going well, I'm at the beginning of Paris-Nice and I lead in the CQ Ranking and have already scored 17 wins, most important Le Samyn and KBK by Mondory and Tour of Oman with Gadret. Also, Peraud won the Tour Mediterraneen and Appolonio scored three stage wins in Langkawi. I'm looking forward to the more challenging WT races now, I hope for a good result at P-N with Peraud, my sponsor expects a Top 5...

Peraud has enough MO and TT for a TOP 5, but it depends on the other riders involved. |

I once sent a team to the TdF consisting of only climbers. My worst rider had 78 MO

OPQ career
Just had a really odd cobbles season
E3 - Won by Boonen, 2nd Ballan, 3rd Breschel .... 33rd Cancellara, 45th Flecha
GW - Won by Nuyens, 2nd Boonen, 3rd Breschel ... 25th Flecha, no Cancellara
RVV - Won by Boonen, 2nd Breschel, 3rd Vanmarcke ... 20th Cancellara, 21st Flecha
PR - Won by Boonen, 2nd Breschel, 3rd Boom ... 18th Cancellara, 22nd Flecha
Just a bit odd. Lots of people in Top10 i wouldn't normally see as well. Went well for us but just odd.
Also Cav's got 3 stage wins in TDU, 2 wins and GC in Qatar, 3 wins in Oman, 3rd Scheldrijs, 1 win Tirreno, 1st MSR
Velits got a stage win in Catalunya
Chavanel got 1 win and 4th GC in Tirreno
Martin has come 2nd in the 4 tt's he has been in

I made it but it was really close. Finished 7th in the prologue but Hushovd and Boasson Hagen overtook me in with bonus seconds. I got third on the uphill finish of stage five behind Rogers and Moser, which vaulted me into fifth, then Terpstra won stage six and got in front, but I managed to grab three bonus seconds on the last stage Rogers eventually won, Hagen second, then Cancellara and Moser. Also, Dumoulin was very strong, scoring a second and a third place. It was a really nice race.
