If Wiggens won't win, it's not going to be because he isn't peaking. He knows what he's doing. Most GC riders (for TDF) that know what they're doing, will peak just fine in TDF. Don't know for Andy, though.
Of course Andy will peak for the Tour... He doesn't even ride any other races properly.

...and there's the difference
btw Both of the Schleck brothers won one (semi)classic. Still not much, but at least they're in the history books. |

I've been checking out TDF results over the last 10 years, and compared it to the races used as preparation by the riders who either podiumed, either won a distinctive jersey.
Here it is :
| 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Points | K.O.M. | Youngster | 2011 | Evans | A. Schleck | F. Schleck | Cavendish | S. Sanchez | Rolland | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | Suisse | Suisse | Suisse | Dauphiné | Dauphiné |
2010 | A. Schleck | Menchov | S. Sanchez | Petacchi | Charteau | A. Schleck | Prep. Race | Suisse | Dauphiné | Dauphiné | Suisse | - | Suisse |
2009 | Contador | A. Schleck | Armstrong | Hushovd | - | A. Schleck | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | Suisse | - | Suisse | - | Suisse |
2008 | Sastre | Evans | Menchov | Freire | Sastre | A. Schleck | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | Dauphiné | - | Suisse | Dauphiné | Suisse |
2007 | Contador | Evans | Leipheimer | Boonen | Soler | Contador | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | Dauphiné | Dauphiné | Dauphiné | - | Dauphiné |
2006 | Pereiro | Klöden | Sastre | McEwen | Rasmussen | Cunego | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | - | - | - | Suisse | - |
2005 | Armstrong | Basso | - | Hushovd | Rasmussen | Popovych | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | - | - | Dauphiné | - | Dauphiné |
2004 | Armstrong | Klöden | Basso | McEwen | Virenque | Karpets | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | - | Dauphiné | Suisse | Dauphiné | - |
2003 | Armstrong | Ullrich | Vinokourov | Cooke | Virenque | Menchov | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | Suisse | Suisse | Suisse | Dauphiné | Dauphiné |
2002 | Armstrong | Beloki | Rumsas | McEwen | Jalabert | Basso | Prep. Race | Dauphiné | - | - | - | Dauphiné | Suisse |
What can be concluded from this (poorly displayed ) table ?
1) To win the TDF, you'd better ride the Dauphiné before (90 % of chances).
2) To podium (winners not included), you might as well ride Dauphiné or Suisse (6 podium finishers came from Dauphiné, 5 from Suisse).
Some riders also rode in Catalunya, when that still existed (early 2000's).
Strangely enough, you might as well come from the Giro, or out of nowhere to finish on the podium.
3) Green (points) Jersey ? 6 winners came from Suisse, only Hushovd (2005) and Boonen (2007) made it from the Dauphiné. McEwen got it twice (2002, 2006), without riding any.
4) Polka dots (KOM) jersey : better ride the Dauphiné (5 winners) than the Tour de Suisse (only the infamous Rasmussen got it that way in 2006).
5) White (best youngster jersey) : it's pretty even. 4 each, plus Cunego and Karpets who didn't the Dauphiné nor the Tour de Suisse.
I considered the legal winners only (means no Contador 2010) and didn't include results when the winner was suspended but the following rider didn't get the reward either (Pellizotti's KOM jersey, Ullrich's podium, etc.) |

Wow, you must have no life.
Just kidding. Very interesting to see that the winner usually comes from the Dauphine. So it's Wiggins vs. Evans in the TdF then? |

Usually when there's a battle between 2, no one of them wins |

Because Kumazan and wilier are not really Sky fans and the way they posted it, suggest sarcasm. Teddy also added some spice there

Everybody knows Luke Rowe was going to win the Tour if he was selected, come on guys...
But I think Ben Swift will be a big threat to the Schlecks and Evans in the mountains.

It's only a matter of time!
Tour of Britain KoM 2006: Andy Schleck
Tour of Britain KoM 2007: Ben Swift
