Would have been nice to see Plaza with the first group. The top 10 doesn't seem so secure this year so he needs any time he can get.
At the moment, there are 4 riders behind Plaza that could overtake him by the end of the race. Hopefully he will manage to keep two of those behind.

One of this weird moments when riders losing contact and not doing anything to come back. Luckily no leader in there although losing a 6th or 15th in a GT GC is annoying.
And here goes the award for the ugliest screenshot this year:

At least no blocking this time, Roelandts was way stronger this time, still happy with second!

I knew that all flat stages should be banned from GT's
This will probably cost me points in the long run, and hence is really rather irritating, but I care more about securing victory now, so it's a neutral stage for me. Not bringing a sprinter seems to have really paid off.

Now I just need Roelandts to get into the points jersey. Van Stayen is becoming a nuisance

I did the same in the Giro, and in the end it's what gave Ricco the win. I knew his sprint stat wasn't to low, so i was hoping he would mix himself in the sprints (mostly for points). He ended on the podium of flat stages a few times though, enough boni's to beat Sella.
@Crommy: I see it the other way around , i want my 5 stage wins damnit!

Must be really frustrating for those who had top riders caught behind in that split, especially mb and SotD.
Really strange that they don't even try to chase back either.

Really happy with Richeze in this Vuelta, I was expecting a few 7th/8th stage places, but these podiums and top-5s are great
Not really concerned with Marquez losing time, he was under-performing a bit anyway.

Not a good stage - 43' second loss to Valverde on a flat stage.
Would be nice to think Valverde or Madrazo would pay the penalty for these kind of efforts, but the GC men never seem to. |

Everyone sprints on the flat stages in pcm though.

Stages like that are examples of PCM failing to be a good game.

Wow that was a shit stage for us. Serpa losing whatever shot he had of bringing me some extra points, and Contador losing whatever shot he had at winning the race, and now also allowing Valverde a bit of leash is just plain stupid.
Let's get the hell away from these sort of stages, they always seem to fuck a couple of managers over, and I'm always amongst them.

Well despite of losing Arroyo in 6th, which was always on loaned time, you probably secured the race with those 40something seconds on Intxausti and Contador, so in my book, this was a good stage for you.

Sorry guys for the delay this week, been unexpectedly busy at work - will endeavor to get stage 11 out tomorrow evening and hopefully stage 12 the day after that.

Nice report, Smowz, thanks.
Wish I could say nice ride to Abal. That's the second time he's been caught at the back of the group like that (Sella too maybe??). He needs to try and wake up. |

Madrazo showing his strength now. Santander's strong squad is paying off.
Bad luck for them with Arroyo though. Hopefully he recovers in the next stages.

It looks like Vanderaerden and Hutarovich are almost complete useless riders for my team. They made zero sprint trains in Giro/Vuelta at all..
Anyway, nice ride by Thomas Rohregger once again, I am quite happy with him in this race, at least so far.

Even if my team is nowhere to be seen, I enjoy the racing. It's been top level in both the Giro and Vuelta so far - although, obviously, less "equal" here than in the Giro. |
