Fifa disagrees. No positives proves there's no doping. Thus it's absolutely useless to waste money on tests. As there's no tests (or barely any useful one), there are no positives.
Good-working logic. |

FIFA does tests and the even have a database (so they register the positive doping tests). Also there are bans if a footballer gets caught. They just don't tell the public or the media/people do not care. |

Interestingly I do remember Fuentes saying something like "the whole Spanish football team would be stripped of the World Cup if I talked."
Now I wouldn't trust a thing that guy says but at the same time it gives a suggestion that cycling isn't much worse than many other sports. I wouldn't be surprised if FIFA's efforts are nothing compared to what the UCI does which, considering the sizes of the two organisations, is at least something to be happy about at least when we see positive tests. |

Platini and Blatter, to just name two, keep pretending doping is of no use in football, so it doesn't exist. English players threatened to go on strike when they were asked to be available for tests at any time (like cyclists), and they won. Fifa are the only important federation that doesn't have to follow WADA rules but still remains an Olympic sport. One also has to wonder how no positive test ever came out of a Juventus player, when they owned as much medicines, drugs, etc. as the central pharmacy of an average town hospital.
Also, the products they research when they test are rarely the ones they'd be likely to find. Lack of money, or convenient targeting. |

This so cruel subject.. while most football fans loud and stupid people. They laugh every time when cyclist is cought..We are biggest dopers in the planet..and won't escape from that title. Also press loves to make a headline and start like this..
Another cyclist...
Another reason: Why football player need a doping?
Recovery my friends ..look how many games one top club players will play inside a year. |

In other news, Fabio Duarte has four offers and should decide before the 30th, no word on which teams are making the offers. Source (in spanish): https://www.eltiem...10616604-4
I personally would like to see him at Saxo Bank.

Much expected. Can't wait to see him in the Classics and leading out Appo-Jet in the Giro.

With all the cooperation between Sky and the GB National Team, would the latter having a say in keeping Thomas out of the Tour (and rested for London 2012, road and track) surprise anybody? |

To Alakagom: Id be dissapointed if all he did in the Giro was lead out. Besides, he'd be leading out Cavendish (And Appollonio needs his own nickname, rather than stealing Petacchi's!)
Deadpool: Thomas is repeating his 2008 schedule, when he wasnt on a British team. He wants to ride the track in London - its not like he is being told to ride there by GB. And also, it will only be track in the Olympics, no road. Its fine for those targeting road at the Olympic to do the TdF, but not for the track, especially when Britain have a huge task on their hands to beat the Australians in the TP.

Thomas was never going to ride the tour as soon as he picked Sky over GreenEdge for this season and I thought Cavendish was skipping the Giro in favour of more rest for the tour/olympics? |

Thomas was never going to ride the 2012 tour as soon as he decided he was going to ride Track in 2012. Simple as that.
Cavendish skip the Giro? No chance.
He is World Champion. He likes the Giro, the Giro organisers seem to like him, and the route suits him more than last year. I dont expect him to finish the Giro, but dont kid yourself that the Olympics are going to get special treatment from Cavendish (or Wiggins). Both are targetting the Tour, with the hope of being able to hold onto their form for 1 week afterwards.

Not saying that there will be any special treatment to anything just vividly rmemeber one of the magazines we get stating that Cavendish was an unlikely participater and that at the Giro route he turned up with EBH for about 5 mins before the route actually came out and they both left before the presentation. |

Wait, Thomas is skipping the road race in the Olympics next year? I obviously know the training regimes are different for road and track, but I didn't think that would entirely rule him out of doing the road race. To me that significantly weakens the GB team, because Thomas was probably, if not the lead out man, then at least the 1km to 500m guy for the GB train. And considering that the organizers clearly see Cav as one of their best chances for Gold (putting the road race on as the, I believe, but am not entirely sure this is the case, first medal event), that surprises me. |
