Like someone else said I don't get the rule where a Pro Tour rider is not allowed to participate in the U23 Worlds.
Imo we want THE BEST in the worlds, and not the best of the rest. Because normally an amateur would also get beaten by the CT riders. Or they should be beaten at least.
And the race would still be interesting in the U23 I think. Riders such as Phinney, Sagan, Talansky, Rowe, Pinot, Degenkolb, Kennaugh, Blythe, Tenorio, Guldhammer, Summerhill.
I might be confusing some of these, and almost certainly forgetting some aswell... How old is Bakelants and Kittel fx?
I think the race would easily be as interesting with these riders, and the subtop riders would only be even more interesting to follow if they could put themselves in the mix of already top-athletes.

I am really looking for how M.Sablikova will do today for Czech Republic in TT. I like these athletes trying to achieve great things in two or more sports, especially summer/winter sport combination is admirable.
Although I really like her ambitioms in cycling, I do not believ in her success. In recent interview she told she has ridden around 2000 kms this year - most of that was on a mountain bike. Yes, their results on national level are pretty nice but I guess she really doesn!t what she needs to beat these professional women. |

I think riders like Sagan (road) and Phinney (TT) would still do the elite race instead, even if allowed to ride Juniors, but i agree with your point.

Probably, but that should be up to the individuals. Just like in U21 football. If you have a chance to play at senior level, then obviously you would prefer to compete there...

And Wurtz Schmidt won. Congrats Denmark! Now I'm really looking forward to Cancellara VS Tony Martin tomorrow.

WOW! Standing there in the heart of Copenhagen, and hear the danish anthem while a dane is on top of the podium in the rainbow jersey... What a moment. I will never forget this.... Congrats, Mads! |

The Danish could hardly expect more until now, the Australian dominance isn´t too surprising.
What happened to the Dutchis in the junior´s TT? I really expected Silk to take a medal.

I have to admitt, there are two things I like about Denmark; cheap beer and cycling roads.
Copenhagen alone has almost more cyclng roads then all of Norway combined. |

not surprised that Durbridge got the gold for the u23 (nor Quade in second)
Durbridge looked good from what i saw (on TV) of him last year (1.9secs behind Phinney says something in itself, and only Millar beat him to the first checkpoint)
Quaade was also up there last year before his crash (and then retirement)

Finally gold for Arndt, she really deserves it after so many 2nd and 3rd places.
The Czech rider made me almost cry: Sablikova´s position on the bike was so bad and Ruzickova would have been faster if she had carried her bike around the corner

So 2½ medals for Denmark so far. Not bad
It's been an excellent start. Event-wise, TV is doing a good job not filming all the building sites in Copenhagen. Looking great so far.
Weather reports say that there won't be any rain during tomorrow's time trial, but there'll be rain just before the start. Obviously, if this changes just a little bit, rain may be all over the place during the TT.

Wouldn't suprise me if Fuglsang rises above himself to take bronze on the worlds ITT |

In less than a half hour is the first rider, Azzedine Lagab, starting.
3 and a half hours later is Tony Martin, today's winner, starting.
Or what do you say? Will Cancellara, Phinney, Porte, Millar and Wiggins have any chance?
Thomas De Gendt is an wildcard too, he is starting early, at 12:46.30, local time.

I'm really excited to see what Sergent can do, he's latest time trials have been great. Also, he's an early starter, starting in 30 minutes, at 12:45:00. And I've Cancellara as the biggest favourite for the day, he should be on another level than in the Vuelta. |

Is there any special reason why Belgian jerseys have this ugly light blue color? Why don't they do a jersey like Gilbert's NC jersey? Would look far better imo.
