Van Den Broeck had a mechanical inside the final 3 km, but was given the same time as Evans and co, rather then the first group with Purito and Vino.
That´s what the rules say or am i wrong?
I always thought you were put in the same time as the first group you were in at the moment of the crash/mechanical, which would be Vino's group.

The same time as the group you were in the race situation. When there´s a split there´s a new situation and you get the time of the 2nd (3rd, ...) group.

Basso definitely has some work to do before he is ready for TDF. If I were Basso, my confidence would have taken a hit if I can't follow Haedo uphill.
Well Basso must consider himself lucky to lose only 3 secs to Haedo after he crossed the line in a 'weekend ride' pace. |

To quote Basso the day before the prologue:
"I don't have bad form, I have no form. I couldn't train for a month after my crash"
He has zero chance of being in top form for the Tour.

Personally I'm beaming more because I predicted before the season that Degenkolb would outshine Matthews and Phinney

Yeah he's not doing great this season. But the season is still long. Seems like he needs time to adjust to the team, maybe. I don't know.
Rob Ruijgh takes the white jersey from Hagen today. Nice for Rob. |

Well Matthews is not doing bad either.

2. Degenkolb 376
3. Kittel 374

I wonder why they're all sprinters , and even the previous good neo pro were good sprinters (Sagan , Boasson Hagen) |

Meh, not fully agree. Hagen is from 87, let's take it from there (birthyear 87 and younger), who have a decent amount of CQ points and are not sprinters
-Uran
-Van Garderen
-Ulissi
-Meyer
-Bobridge
-Vanmarcke
-Pinot
-Talansky
-Geniez
-Poels
-Taaramae
-Kruijswijk
-Vichot
-Castroviejo
all guys with more than 250 points that are also from 87 and beyond and are no sprinters
Sprinters just win more and therefore you notice them. Doesn't mean they are actually doing things more impressive than these gc guys/classic guys
Also you got to understand a young sprinter wins easier than a young climber, a young time trial specialist or a young classics rider.
This is logical, if you think it through, physically you're normally faster when young. But also, less endurance and power, which is wat climbers, time triallists and classics speicalists need most. They need more maturity to win.
For sprinters it isn't required unless they want to win a sprinting classic (where teh endurance part comes in)
So...logical that sprinters always perform the 'best' of neo's.
Although I find it more impressive when a 20/21/22 year old climber is up front in a big mountainstage. Then when a same age sprinter wins a sprint somwhere...

The first good time-trialists have set their times ahead of the GC contenders;
1 T Martin in 55:28
2 D Zabriskie in 56:25 @ 0:58
3 A Malori in 57:31 @ 2:04
Basso already lost over 2 mins after 15 km.

Basso already lost over 4 min after the first two stages, so it doesn't really matter |

I don't think it will be beaten.
But I think Wiggins will do enough to take yellow... |

The conditions appear to be improving, and dryer roads will benefit the GC riders vs Martin

I really think Wiggins can put Martins time in danger, conditions steadily improving. |
