Personally, Id rather see Saur get given a chance - give Coppel an opportunity. Of the 4 French teams, Id give them precedence over Cofidis - best rider Moncoutie, who much prefers the Vuelta anyway.

Saur would be a better bet than putting in Geox, if that team will even have their sponsors come the TdF.
Saur have up and coming Coppel, who the French will surely want to see race. Plus the ASO can just blame the UCI for making them have to take Vacansoleil in the place of Geox. It's like making a choice for them between dopers and dopers. Who will win I wonder...? |

Well i like Coppel, but still..The 2008-winner of the race (not that he can win again though, but still Sastre have a big name), and Menchov who was 3rd last year. Also riders like Florencio, Cobo, Valls (one of the good surprises in last years TDF) etc "lose" to a team with Coppel, Casper, Lemoine, Engoulvent, Joly and riders like that? Well because they are french obv, but when the other 3 WC's is for french teams, the last could go to a non-french IMO.. But not in ASO's opinion it seems.
But well, lets see. |

You're under the impression here that the World is fair, which it ain't. Logical, which it ain't. And run by people who care what the fans want, which in part, is true. The French fans want to see French riders, they don't want to see Sastre, or Menchov, or Florencio, or Cobo, or Valls, because they're mostly Spanish, and Spanish riders have reputations. Especially if they're in a team led by Mr I own Geox Team. |

I would like to see Coppel at the TDF, Cofidis I agree should miss out this year, their most attacking rider in recent years has been Auge and he has now retired.

It would be crazy to leave out Geox. Menchov is a podium-candidate, a potential race winner, supported by Sastre, the 2008-winner.
The French can offer attacks on boring stages.
I know what I prefer. |

I couldn't open the TDU commentary streams listed on https://www.cyclin.../node/1470 with my real player or windows player, but it worked for me with VLC using the Open Network stream option.
If you have VLC Player - free from https://www.videol...
Then do this:
Open VLC,
Press Cntl+N (to open the Network Stream pop-up option).
Paste
https:// https://www.abc.net.au /adelaide/includes/winstream.asx
remove gaps I want to post the whole url, but can't see how
to do that on these boards. It keep curtailing it, which makes
it hard for you to copy/paste it.
where it says "Please enter a network protocol"
Then press Play (at the bottom of the pop-up)
That should enable you to listen to ABC Radio Adelaide live commentary.

In other news, Danish continental rider Philip Nielsen (rode for Team Concordia in 2010) has been tested positive for Clenbuterol in April 2010. For some reason, the tests have taken this long to surface and be processed by the UCI. Both A & B tests were positive.

It's worth mentioning that he was tested during the Vuelta a Mexico. As far as I remember, Alessandro Colo was also tested positive for clenbuterol during the same race. His explanation, food contamination, was accepted (18 % of the meat in Mexico has clenbuterol in it), and he therefore got a reduced 1-year-ban.
I suppose the same will happen for Philip Nielsen. |
