Hushovd said to the norwegian TV2 that he knows that hes in form, but he just couldent make it work today.

Well done by Armstrong. I guess this is one of his best TT results since the comeback. |

Armstong had a great ride, but for some reason Contador didn't look that good on the bike today, compared to how we look in last year's TDF. I'm thinking Armstong has a shot @ #8.

I doubt that. Armstrong did better than anticipated, but it is just a prologue, doesn't mean much.
Expect to see him suffer heavily once the vertical parts begin.
As for Contador.. to me he seams to pretty much be on target.
On an entirely different note: the Hushovd that I saw being interviewed by Norwegian TV seamed like he had just been hit by a truck. Seams like he has not quite recovered from his cold yet.
Also it appears that a couple of newspapers here + the commentators have recently discovered that the short version of Edvald is "Eddy"..... Pandoras box has now been opened.

could be cause he's not with bruyneel anymore. bruyneel is the best manager in game. he somehow inspires all his riders to do so well. |

Can anyone think of how Andy Schleck will win back 40 sec on Contador? He had an awful day..... |

(Nearly) nobody expects him to finish first, so he´ll finish second after Contador

But on a mountain, a 40 second gap is possible. I don't see it happening unless Contador has a bad day, but 40 seconds is very possible.

I'm all for dropping Andy's GC aspirations and let Fuglsang have complete captaincy!

Armstrong is a better bike handler than Contador, so has an advantage on wet roads like today (even if they dried a little towards the end, they were still wet). Plus Conta knows he could take it a little easy and not risk anything, because of his superiority in the mountains.
I doubt Armstrong will come really close to Contador in the end, as long as there's no accidents or something unusual in stage 3.
Edit: Well done @ 5th Thomas and 12th Malori

Yes but the cobbles could really shake things up. Maybe not 40 seconds, and since I've never seen either rider on cobbles I have no idea what to expect but I just really wanna see someone other than Contador win the Tour.

The only top GC guys I see that have an advantage on the cobbles is Evans and Armstrong, the others are just bad and will probably finish in the pack falls and punctures not included. Actually I expect to end like last time there was cobbles in the tour, no top favourites lose any time. |

Remember that the cobble stage in 2004 was vastly different than tuesday's. IIRC, in 2004 there was just a couple of short cobbled sections far away from the finish. I've no idea how this cobbled stage will pan out, but I expect a lot to happen.
There could be splits tomorrow as well, depending on the wind and how the stage is ridden. What's the forecast? And how are the roads in that part of Holland? If they're like the Giro roads, we could be facing another crash-filled stage. |

Everyone's overlooking the incredible performance by Arashiro.
He beat Nocentini and Voeckler, who've both worn the maillot jaune!!!
On a different note: nice work by gianni. Hoping for a good Tour from him.
And Wiggins messed up big time today. You can't write off 30 seconds on Contador and Armstrong as not much, especially on a stage where you should be gaining time
