Not sure how relevant it is, but Wiggins saves 50 watt behalde og his new shirt, according to Arvesen. Think how much eget save now vs the 80's.

Euskaltel may drop down to Pro Continental: https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/euska...our-status
Would be bad for Basque cycling in general. |

Meanwhile, after LeMond picked at Armstrong (recalling that Armstrong once told him he could find up to 30 people claiming he [GLM] took EPO in 1989, and this time that he knows someone that Armstrong wanted to pay to claim so, but who refused because it wasn't true), Armstrong responded on the French television.
He said that soon enough, LeMond will have to tell the truth about 1989.
I guess he found, erm paid, somebody who needs money, to claim LeMond was on EPO in 1989.
We'll see if after repeating a lie often enough it starts being considered as true or potentially true in people's minds. After all Armstrong and Bruyneel have been doing that for years now.
Strangely enough, it's in 1991 that EPO started being widely used among GC leaders and that LeMond could never do anything any more...
I consider LeMond to be the last TDF champion with a serious credibility doping-wise. |

That always reminds me of the story of Van Hooydonck who suddenly couldn't keep up with the top 25 in the classics anymore after being world class the years before..
So sad... the introduction of EPO certainly was a black day in history. |

There are some very powerful people (on Armstrong's camp) who carry quite a bit of influence and a huge axe to grind with LeMond.
Yet the only thing they've ever come up with is that LeMond set the record for fastest time trial ever (which has since been repeatedly beaten) in a short, downhill time trial with a tailwind.
LeMond won the Tour and the Worlds clean. He was the best american cyclist ever, by quite a margin. Armstrong can't stand that fact.

That is probably true, but i think LeMond hates even more that Lance gets more attention than him. I don't think there is a more bitter man in the cycling world, besides Floyd Landis- |

Yes, he's quite bitter.....because he hates what the sport has become. As a Lance fanboy I can see how you think it's all about Lance, but it's not.
He's always been quite outspoken about doping. He was barely a pro and already he was outspoken about it.
Guess whose idea it was to have out of competition testing? Among others.

Even if Armstrong hates the fact that LeMond did all that dope free, i don't see a LeMond mention in every Armstrong interview.
While LeMond cannot do a fucking thing without mentioning Lance in a bad way, he's got that unhealthy hating habit that's going on lately . |

I'm not watching French TV or cycling broadcasting too much any more (lack of time, sometimes lack of interest too, whatever), but when LeMond was sometimes on as a guest, he wouldn't talk about Armstrong every five minutes.
If people keep interviewing him about Armstrong, then he answers about Armstrong.
I think he's very bitter about doping and everything related to doping (bit like me actually), and he spends time talking about it, which includes talking about Armstrong, who's the most famous rider, and an obviously doped one. |

Because if you weren't clean you were fired from La Vie Claire. |

Hardly proof now is it? Same thing applies to every team now.

Not back then. La Vie Claire was the only team in the late 80's early 90's that was completely clean. The reason why the team's manager (can't remember his name, Paul something) got out of cycling was because he realized a clean team couldn't compete at the highest level, and he wouldn't allow doping on the squad.
EDIT: Paul Koechli

How could they know that the riders were completely clean? We can't prove it today and the testing is better. |

You shouldn't get into an argument with the LeMond fanboys.
LeMond won the tour when their was no doping, they doped in the 1970`s and 1990`s and through the rest of the sporting history, but when when LeMond competed their was no doping |

Actually, I detest Lemond as a human being and as you should know I am one of the most pessimistic people on this forum when it comes to the widespread use of doping in cycling now and in the past. That said, all evidence, looking at the numbers, the people, and testimonies of the people involved in La Vie Claire makes it clear to me that that team was entirely clean.
There is no other team I can say that about. |
