The course wasn't. Flat. it had a few climbs. So of course Hagen wouldn't have much chance.
But finishing behind a pure sprinter like Hegreberg? Ouch

issoisso: Yes, it was a very hard and exciting race. Hushovd just jumped away from a very disappointing Boasson Hagen and managed to catch Rake who rode very strong just a couple of kilometers from the finish. Rake, Wilmann, Hegreberg and others went with around 40-50 km to go and Rake had around a minute on Hushovd 10 kilometres from the finish. |

It was a great race.
With 50-60km left Rake and Hegreberg broke clear with ca 60km left, Wilmann followed them. Then Wilmann did 80% of the pacing, and they caught the break, they continued at the front, together with two guys from the break. The "peloton" was lead by Arvesen for 20-30km , but they didn't catch up with the 5 men up front. Then Boasson Hagen attacked with ca. 25km left, Hushovd was the only one to follow. They co-operated, but didn't gain much on the front group. Then Boasson Hagen suddenly paced it close to all-in, and brought him and Hushovd at decent distance to the front 5. Then Hushovd left Boasson Hagen, and bridged the gap of 1 minute on his own. The five up front splitted, and Hushovd and Rake came together to the finish line.
It looked like Boasson Hagen is in bad form/had a bad day, he had enough power to one attack and one hard relay, and that was about everything.
Hopefully he will be better in the Tour. |

Edvald is supposed(bad english, sorry) to be better then Hushovd to climb. But Edvald was smiling after he finished, so i hope it were only a bad day for him.

I'm starting to think there's nothing Vanessa Fernandes can't do.
A bit tired of dominating triathlons, she decided to enter the cycling Women's TT Nationals "For the hell of it".
The result was predictable.
And today she decided to dominate the road race... although with a little bit more competion, since last year's national champion was now in the race. Which didn't happen in the TT. |
