Giro d'Italia Stage 13
Basically a rest stage for me and Christian. i helped out a little for Tyler but mostly just sat around. Everyone knew it would be a sprint as this is one of the last chances for the sprinters.
A break of 2 riders went but they were seperate. We caught the first guy at the 40km to go and then the last straggler at the 20km to go banner. In the sprint our train was set up to follow a ISD rider but he fell back once he realized he was handing us a win. Therefore the Garmin train fell back so far that it would take Usain Bolt and Farrar's sprinting speed combined to win.
Benitez took the stage anf Farrar almost got a podium spot but idn't have that extra kick to get past Arrieta.

Giro d'Italia Stage 14
I was told today that the team would be working for me as its an uphill sprint. The final hill was 8% average gradient so its very tough.
In the end VandeBroeck won the stage. He out-sprinted everybody!

Giro d'Italia Stage 15
Today is a tougher stage than yesterday. I might be able to finish in the lead group. My main goal for the day is to yet again help Christian. I enjoy working for him as he is a fun guy.
On the final hill Cunego and Vande Velde attacked. Cunego gapped Christian and eventually Garzeli made it up to Cunego as well.
Bruseghin attacks and makes it to the lead group. The 3 gain almost 40 seconds on VDV.
Garzeli and Cunego behind Bruseghin. You can see Vande Velde in the distance.
Now with 4 km's to go Vande Velde is further back on Cunego and Bruseghin but Garzeli has been dropped and is now behind VDV. VandenBroeck is in between Cunego's group and the maglia rosa group. Cunego beats Bruseghin in a sprint and Vande Velde finishes 1:08 back on Cunego. Wiggins Vande Velde's only competition at this point finishes with the same time.

Giro d'Italia Stage 16
Unfortunately my game crashed too many times so I simulated the stage. I wish I didn't have too but thats the way it goes sometimes.
Stage;
GC:
This has got to be the worst possible outcome to the stage. I just hope that Christian can ride well on the final 2 mountain stages

Hesjedal is VDV's main helper and it this point he will probably have to help him for the rest of the race. MAybe on the last stage before the TT he might escape but not likely with this result on stage 16.

Yeah the 3 times when I actually played it everytime I would have stayed with the same amount of time ahead or even gain tiem on Wiggins but It kept crashing at around 3km to go so I just simmed it and get the 2nd worst outcome possible.

Giro d'Italia Stage 17
So this is probably the most critical stage of the Giro. This will make or break our Giro. Christian needs lots of time but JV told us that if we work hard we can narrow that gap of Wiggins.
At the start of the run up to Blockhaus the boys moved up to set the pace for the peloton. Cunego attacked a few seconds earlier but he isn't too dangerous so we let him escape.
Now with 15km to go to the summit I started pacing Christian up the mountain.
Paced him up until he attacked with 12km to go. At the start of the day we knew he would have to attack first and never let Wiggins within reach of him after that point.
Now with 8km to go VDV is still all alone and has passed all the remnants of the break. He even passed Cunego.
At about 7.5 km ;eft Garzeli attacked and it was massive. He settled in just behind VDV.
Wiggins attacks but couldn't reach VDV. And he was down 45 seconds.
Now Garzeli joined VDV and with 4.5km left they looked as if they were going to battle it out for the win. IT went down to a sprint. Vande Velde went first and Garzeli after him, would Garzeli go around to win?
No. Vande Velde wins the stage and will need a big rest tonight. What an effort! I'm so glad that he won the stage after all the effort I put into setting it up for him.

Yeah I wish i could have played that stage but it crashed 4 times.
Yeah!! Great stage there, hope you will pass Wiggins in the end. Good luck for that
Not sure if I will be able to beat Wiggins. That was a very lucky stage and now Sky is probably expecting a move like that so it might not work.
But anyway thanks guys.

Well Wiggins has been way more consistent. I think Wiggo has finished in the top 5 in every stage that hasn't finished in a sprint.
Yeah I guess he's dominating but if he doesn't win it won't be memorable for very long. Ryder might attack into the break as the next stage is flat but the stage after that is the final stage to win the GC back. Do you think it would tire Hesjedal out too much if he went in the break?

Today Dave Zabriskie won stage 2 of the Bayern Rundfahrt. He beat out Christian Knees of Milram to the line. Zabriskie is now the leader in that race. We hope he does well.

Giro d'Italia Stage 18
Sorry the game crashed before the replay. It wasn't a very interesting stage anyway. A break got away with a gpa of 6:00 minutes at the 50km to go banner but they were brought bac kwith only 5km to the finish. All the teams sprinters had trouble getting over those nasty hills at the end so I started to lead-out VDV for a stage win and some crucial bonus seconds. Gerrans had a great lead-out by Sutton and Gerrans grabbed the win. Unfortunatley Wiggins who had no lead-out man sprinted like crazy (I guess from being a track cyclist) and rode up into 2nd getting some bonus seconds. This is not good for Christians hopes at a GC Victory but there's still tommorow and the stage 21 TT to get time back.

Giro d'Italia Stage 19
Today is the day. Its the make or break day of the Giro. We can win it or we can lose it. It will be a tough day and after our legs will be screaming at us but we have to make sacrifices and feel that pain because pain usually means your riding hard. We want that pain and we're ready for it!
So far in the stage a break has gone clear but at the foot of the climb they were caught. We set the pace up at the front and I watched and protected Vande Velde. Vaughters basically told the team at the 16km mark that Christian will attack any moment now. Give up your chase. It worked and VDV gapped the main group.
After 4km of climbing up the mountain by himself Wiggo made it up to VDV. They pushed the pace but really I could tell that Christian was holding back. Garzeli and Basso attacked and Christian followed. Garzeli and Vande Velde got ahead of Basso. Where was Wiggins? For the first time it looked like Wiggins was struggling!
Garzeli and VDV took it all the way inside the 1km banner. VDV had the legs left to sprint and did. HE had a wheel on Garzeli with 400m to go. Wiggins was 20 seconds behind with Bruseghin. Basso was really struggling to get up the mountain as he was even further down the mountain.
Garzeli snags the win out of Vande Velde's pocket on this one. Tough. But VDV still gets 19 seconds and some bonus time which could help for the stage 21 TT.

Earlier this morning we received some great news. That is of course a Victory by Robbie Hunter winning the CSC Invitational for Garmin- Transitions. HE won after a group of 3 got ahead including himself at the 20km mark and they held off the peloton by over a minute to take the win. In that group was disgraced cyclist Floyd Landis.
