Interview - Gustav Erik Larsson
Q: First stage win for the team in a while, and your first of the season. Can you hold the jersey for the next three stages?
A: I'm going to try, having over 30 seconds on 2nd anything is possible, but don't expect me to win the mountain stages, I just have to keep pace. Thats why the team brought Lovkvist, Peterson, and Deignan to help me keep pace.

Sorry to say, but I'm leaving for vacation tomarrow and won't be back for a week ... So that means no story reports for a week. Should return just in time for the TDF which is a bonus for me. And I will gladly be posting the story when I get back. It's been fun writing it so far even with the sudden stops and being picked back-up again. So I guess for anyone that still follows EA-Sony Ericsson Story will have to wait another week for updates.

And just out of curiousity ... How many people have actual been reading my story. Haven't received any comments in a long while? It would be nice to know if I still had a few followers.

Any ways Peace Out, for a week. I'll be Back.

Giro del Trentino Stage 2 Report

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Profile-1.jpg

The second stage of the tour is going to be a test the will of the team. We can either keep Larsson in Pink or let a climbing attacker steal the leader's jersey away from Gustav. With that said we hope to take control of the peleton on the final climb and chase attackers instead of attack ourselves.

The early breakaway gets away and we are gratefully that other teams take up the chase and we are able to sit back in the peleton. Very unusual in today's time were teams usual want the leader's jersey team to take control for the whole race, considering the finish is on a sumit and not flat.

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Chase.jpg
But later in stage we did take over to make sure attacks were cut down by the finish.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/10kmtogo.jpg
With 10km to go the break was all over, but mountain climbers back in the peleton were get ready to launch their attacks, and we hope to try and drag the peleton up to the finish with very one in it.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/5kmtogo.jpg
With 5km to go the first attack was launched, and our chase was on.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb.jpg
But with harder inclines then expected, it was a job trying to keep tabs on the attackers, and hopes of keeping everyone together now looked inpossible. And with no energy left after chasing attacks from our guys were out of the question.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Finish.jpg
And when the finish line was crossed, we were still 1km back, losing time.

Interview - Gustav Erik Larsson
Q: Team tatics fall through today, what is in store for the team for the rest of the tour?
A: Attacking, attacking, and more attacking. We don't have some Pink leader's jersey holding us back any more. Having 4 climbers and a young rookie in Ackerman, the last two stages should be full of action.

Great, just stayed in the states and went over to Sandusky, Ohio and Detroit across the state. In Sandusky I went to Cedar Point, amusement park, maybe you have heard of it. And in Detroit saw a MLB game, Detroit Tigers. Feels good to come back just in time for TDF.

Crazy Stage 3, Report to Come Tomarrow. Took 18 Pictures over the course of the stage ... Yeah that much action. Might have to delete a few to keep the report from being super long. Probably the most fun, entertaining, intense, frustrating, ... stage I have every been a part of while playing any PCM.

Giro del Trentino Stage 3 Report

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Profile-2.jpg

After losing the leader's jersey in yesturday's stage, we have set our sights on Breakaways, and Mountain Attacks. Hoping that we can find that one key attack to take the stage or maybe the Pink Jersey back.

With a tough climb to start the stage and a flat finish, today could be a day for a long breakaway, or a tough sprinter. And with no sprinters on our squad the only option for us was the breakaway.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb1.jpg
Ackerman the first to try ...
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb2.jpg
But failed. Next in line was Philip Deignan ...
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb3.jpg
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb4.jpg
He is also reeled in.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb5.jpg
But has enough energy to give it one more go.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb6.jpg
But again is brought back by the peleton.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Downhill.jpg
And over top the small peleton of 65 riders out of 149, keep any breakaways from getting away.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/2ClimbPeterson.jpg
Now at the base of the second climb of the stage, Peterson makes his move.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/2TopofClimb.jpg
And finally with no quick reaction for the peleton Peterson is able to reach the top and collect the points, but also hold a 1'30'' gap. But on the downhill is quickly caught, and now the peleton contains some 85 riders.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Flat1.jpg
But as soon as all was calm, another attack broke loose, which triggered a counter by Larsson. And eventually the race leader Hoogerland ...
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Flat2.jpg
Who is followed up by Lovkvist...
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/10kmtogo-1.jpg
And with 10km to go there was a small group of contenders up front including Larrson, Lovkvist, and the race leader. Back in small peleton for us was a tired Deignan.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/5kmtogo-1.jpg
With 5km to go, Larsson trys to use up any of his remaining energy with an attack. But doesn't get far away and is swept up during the sprint.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Finish-1.jpg
And at the line Lovkvist and Larsson cross 17th and 18th considering there not good sprinters. And the race officials don't give out a time gap to the front group as the peleton that included Deignan close the gap during the sprint.

Interview - Philip Deignan
Q: You had a very eventfully day today, any comments?
A: Um, ... the peleton laid down a fast pace all day today and I was luck to keep with them after I waste all my energy trying to create an early breakaway. Tomarrow's last stage should provide more of a Climber finish rather than a Sprinter/Breakaway/Climber finish like we had today.

Giro del Trentino Stage 4 Report

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Profile-3.jpg

The final stage of the tour today, and it is a tough one. Lovkvist, Larsson, Deignan, and Peterson are all looking for a stage win, and maybe the leader's jersey for Larsson or Lovkvist.

The day start off normal with a group of 11 riders getting away.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Breakaway-1.jpg
And were caught at the base of the first climb.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb1-1.jpg
No real strong attacks come on the first mountain, but a gap is made just before the top of the climb.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/TopofClimb.jpg
It doesn't look good, Lovkvist and Deignan are on the wrong end of the split, and Larsson was even dropped off Lovkvist group before the sumit.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Gap.jpg
Deignan gives all the effort he can to try and get Lovkvist back in the race.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb2-1.jpg
But the group he is chasing is not letting up, why would they - it contains the race leader.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Climb3-1.jpg
And now Lovkvist is having problems just keeping up with his group. And Larsson is nowhere to be found.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Giro%20del%20Trentino/Finish-2.jpg
And at the finish, the Pink jersey takes the stage and the tour. And all we can do is think what could have been. One of the worse days of racing in the short history of the team.

Interview- Thomas Lovkvist & Gustav Erik Larsson
Q: Glad I could catch the both of you ... After what happen today, how strong is this EA-Sony Cycling Team?
A: (Lovkvist) Not as strong as other teams I have rode on, but we do have the pieces in place to become a Pro Tour Team ... (Larsson) Yeah, every team has days like today it is just how you bounce back in the next tour.
Q: Speeking of next tour, what is next for you two?
A: (Larsson) I'm off to the United States to race the Tour of the Gila. (Lovkvist) And I will start racing again in early May at the Szlakiem Grodow Piastowskich.

Our Riders -
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Riders.jpg

After a disappointing Giro del Trentino the team looks to bounce back with a good result today, to set the tone for the rest of the tour.

Today's early breakaway, that Peterson is able to get into.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Breakaway.jpg
And over top the first climb, he takes the points.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/TopofClimb1.jpg
And right about now is were I say the breakaway is caught, but not today! The peleton slacks off there duties big time, and the breakaway is looking good with 15-20km left.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Leader.jpg
The solo leader ... and his breakaway followers.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Leader2.jpg
And then a struggling Peterson with very little, to no energy left.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Leader3.jpg
But make sure to check the clock in the top left corner ... that is just make to a solo attacker who noticed that the peleton not chasing the breakaway and wanted to save some time. The peleton is another 5 minutes behind him!
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Climb1.jpg
Now to start the final climb to the finish, with Peterson still drifting of the breakaway riders and is quickly joined by solo attacker.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Climb2.jpg
But somehow they were still gaining time on the very slow peleton. And by the time the peleton reached the base of the climb the breakaway riders were nearing the finish, something had to be done.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/TrioAttack.jpg
Are other trio climbers (Martin, Deignan, and Larsson) back in the peleton made there move, now just to save some time.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Finish1.jpg
As 1st was already claimed.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Finish2.jpg
And Peterson also beats the climbers.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Finish3.jpg
And finally the trio comes home, ... 18 minutes behind the winner!

Interview - Thomas Peterson
Q: Great ride, did you think the breakaway was going to get all the way to the finish today?
A: Honestly, no. I didn't even think I was going to make it to the finish with 20km to go, but then the word come over the team radio that peleton messed up the chase today and I was free to the finish. Which is bad for Martin, Deignan, and Larsson ... But I can climb as well, and better than any of the other riders that were in the breakaway today. But to make up a 13 minute gap is going to be hard to do.

Mate loving the story. It is a shame about your sprinter but i am sure he will come good when you can set up some longer trains when the younger guys come good. Personally i dont mind super long stage stories i am well into each stage and the development of the riders.
Delayed well done on your exams Smile

Thanks, means a lot. Glad I still have few followers. Post anytime, I really like the feedback.

Update: I hope to get 2-3 stage reports done today. Then hopefully finish the tour tomarrow. Then probably Monday or Tuesday I will post end-April summary. Then try and get in a few stages of the next tour done before I'm going on another vacation, to Canada for a week(Valverde321, haha). But I will have my labtop so I will continue on the story but won't have internet to post them. So I should have ton of race updates around July 27 or the 28.

Next update within the next hour!

Tour of the Gila Stage 2 Report

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Profile-1.jpg

A nice flat stage after the crazy breakaway finish of Stage 1. Now with the majority of riders 18 minutes back we are going to have to do our part to make sure another breakaway doesn't win today.

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/TopofClimb.jpg
As we reach the first climb Peterson is able snag 3rd Place and gain 1 point, and is now tied for the KoM classification. And after collecting his point he returns to the peleton.

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Chase.jpg
Luck for us today, only two riders get away and chasing them down will be an easy task.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Chase2.jpg
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Caught.jpg
And they are caught just in time for the bunch sprint, but at the back of the pack Peterson is struggling to stay in contact with field.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/5kmtogo.jpg
Sprint trains form, and Larsson is able to hook onto the back of one and try his luck. With no real strong sprinters on our squad we would happily take a win from Larsson.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/1kmtogo.jpg
And with 1km to go ... Larsson is in perfect position.

A 2nd Place for Larsson!
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Finish3-1.jpg
But Peterson loses time. but holds on to 8th in GC.

Interview - Gustav Erik Larsson
Q: You have shown great form so far this year, from sprints to climbs. When do you expect it to max out?
A: Well coming in I had this race circled on my calendar, so I knew coming in I was ready to compete in this race. I this form should stay around till the middle of June. Because team goal races are 3 out of the next four race after the Tour of the Gila, and I will be racing in all 3 of them.

I will be going around New Brunswick on a cruise, with the two ports at Saint John and Halifax. Yeah and I also rarely every make it to the second half of a season with a career but this career is different.

Next report upcoming in the next hour!

Have fun in Canada. Just as a random recommendation: if you think you want to go to Canada go to British Columbia. It has everything. New Brunswick is also very nice though. Never been to N.B. but it looks nice.

Ahead for the riders is a hilly ITT in today's tour. Larsson will look to better his 2nd place finish from stage 2, as he comes in as the favorite. But with such a massive time gap to the top GC riders, any shake-ups at the top of the GC is going to be impossible.

Interview - Gustav Erik Larsson
Q: Congrats on the win today. After the second yesturday and first today, but Peterson 8th in GC, who is the team leader for the rest of the tour?
A: Team manager still has me listed as the leader, but I would easily give up the reins to Peterson if he has a better chance to either win or gain time over other GC riders ahead of him.

A very short dead flat curuit stage is up next. Our riders will just try and stay out of trouble, and chase the breakaway if needed.

The early breakaway ...

Our chase down, and they are eventually caught. Leading to the bunch sprint.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/1kmtogo-1.jpg
Larsson is unable to grap any of the top sprinter's wheels, and doesn't have the sprint speed to keep up.

Then the finish, Larsson gains no sprint points, but had a big enough lead to keep the green jersey.

Interview- Thomas Peterson
Q: Stage 5 is ahead, and with huge time gaps between the top GC riders is it possible to see a different top 10 tomarrow?
A: Anything is possible ... all the riders currently in the top 10 don't have strong climbing skills, they just got luck in the break. But I think it is going to hard to make up 15 minutes or so.

Tour of the Gila Stage 5 Report

The last stage of the tour, and the hardest. Team tatics coming in were scattered all over the place, until Deignan stepped into the team bus and said he would give up his GC for the team in the early breakaway and collect mountain points to try and keep Peterson his good GC, and on pace to grap the mountain points at the end of the stage. I shook hands with Deignan and told he was a great team mate, and that eventually he would get a chance to shine later in the season.

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/DeignanAttack.jpg
And there he goes right after the start of the race.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/TopofClimb1-1.jpg
And at the top of the first climb he does his job and collects the most points.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/TopofClimb2.jpg
And the same for the second climb.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/SprintPoint.jpg
But the peleton was not happy with leaving Deignan up front so they picked up the pace and brought him back at the first sprint point on the road. And at the sprint point, Rossi attacks looking to rip the green jersey off Larsson on the last stage.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Leader1.jpg
But back in the peleton as the reached the base of the 2nd climb before the finish there was an attack, and Peterson countered, not wanting to lose his chance of collected the points on the top.

i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/TopofClimb3.jpg
And at top Rosssi just barely beats Peterson to the top, and Peterson picks up 6 points.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Leader3-1.jpg
On the downhill Peterson catchs Rossi, but the peleton is right behind them.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/20kmtogo.jpg
20km to go ...
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/10kmtogo.jpg
But with 10km to go they are finally brought back to the peleton.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/5kmtogo-1.jpg
Codol attacked with 7km to go, causes counters from Larsson and Martin. At 5km to go still holds a small gap back to Larsson and Martin's group.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/1kmtogo-2.jpg
1km to go, Codol is home free. Larsson and Martin are trying to hold onto top 5's. While Peterson is still going strong a few groups back and Deignan is actually still in a group right behind Peterson.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Finish1-1.jpg
Codol gets the solo win.
i898.photobucket.com/albums/ac189/Mresuperstar/Tour%20of%20the%20Gila/Finish2-2.jpg
Daniel Martin - 3rd, Gustav Erik Larsson - 4th. Great way to end April.

Peeters with a great ride keeps the yellow jersey from stage 1 all the way to the finish.

Interview - Philip Deignan
Q: You took one for the team today, are you happy with the results that followed your efforts today?
A: I'm very happy. Martin with 3rd, Larsson took 4th. Peterson held onto the KoM jersey. And Larsson with the green jersey. Thats a lot to be proud of, even though we didn't place in the top 10 of GC. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Note: End-April Summary on Monday.
