Fifteen stage. Mestre - Monte Zoncolan
The only thing you can thought when you are climbing in Monte Zoncolan is: "F..k! Where is the finish?" You don't ask yourself where are your opponents, you don't notice a public, although tiffosi here are very excited people, you don't even want to drink. You just want that torture to be over as quick as it is possible.
I climbed on Zoncolan just once before today and it was my biggest victory over myself (it was training). I knew that it will be tough, so I attacked on previous climb with Garzelli and Cunego. That time in was very small group of the most successful climbers there, so it was hard to make a small advantage. But on the descent we were catched by Liquigas boys.
Pellizotti's guardians were unbelievable today! Basso, Shmyd and Bibione Dolphish himself were the best riders today. Wouldn't they ride for one team, they all would finish in top-3.
When we started to climb on Zoncolan, many riders were attacking, but I tried to be more conservative today and followed only my main opponents - Cunego and Martin. Luckily, they made much number of attacks today and they weren't as strong as they could be.
My only goal today was to save my place in top-10 after stage. I finished 7th today and it was enough to take 5th place in GC.
Tomorrow it will be rest day and after that mountain ITT to Plan de Corones. To be honest, today it was the stage I was afraid much. Now I know that I really can fight for top-10 finish, so I will do my best there!

Sixteen stage. ITT San Vigilio di Marebbe - Plan de Corones
To be a team leader isn't as easy as you can imagine. Of course, all the guys work for you, but it is so hard pressure on you...
When team has two captains, you can loose somewhere and another leader could do well, but when you are absolute leader - you can't be weak at any point of the race.
After Zoncolan Michele Scarponi told me, that he will work for me and he will do everything I will need. Oh, how I wanted him to lead me in today's time-trial stage!
Of course, everyone expected Pelizotti to win today, and when he crossed the line, betters could say: "All right!". Only Popovych could loose less than a minute to him...
I did my best, but I finished only 13th, with 1'50 gap. Popovych overtook me in GC and now I am again on 6th position.
Stage results:
1 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | 32'25 | 2 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | + 39 | 3 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | + 1'00 | 4 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | + 1'02 | 5 | Ivan Basso | Liquigas - Doimo | + 1'20 | 6 | Sylwester Szmyd | Liquigas - Doimo | + 1'24 | 7 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | + 1'25 | 8 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | + 1'28 | 9 | Igor Antón | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 1'31 | 10 | Juan Manuel Gárate | Rabobank | + 1'38 |
GC:
1 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | 66h07'25 | 2 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | + 2'35 | 3 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | + 2'50 | 4 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | + 3'32 | 5 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | + 4'35 | 6 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 5'01 | 7 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | + 5'03 | 8 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 5'19 | 9 | Igor Antón | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 5'20 | 10 | Juan Manuel Gárate | Rabobank | + 6'18 |

Seventeenth stage. Brunico - Peio Terme
Belaschov on the summit. Interview to Gazzeta dello Sport (translated)
GDS: Congratulations, Max! This is your first victory on such extremely high level.
ME: Yes, thanks! My today's victory is fantastic! Even my overall victory in Tirreno-Adriatico and U-23 Russian championship three years ago can't match this!
GDS: You doing very good on the Giro, You are in top-5 now, loosing just to three Italians.
ME: Well, Italians are very strong in Giro. It's always. The Giro maybe the only race for them. So, to win even a stage from them is very hard. Today I could do it at last, so I'm very happy.
GDS: Today it was very hot. In both senses.
ME: Yes, 30 degrees today, even at mountain top it was very hot. But I like such temperatures. I hate when it is lower than 20 degrees although I am born in December, I like hot weather.
About the race it was hot indeed. When Pellizotti attacked, I followed, but he was too strong at that moment and I just set down in second group. All the race leaders were in first group, but they couldn't decide who should lead the way, so my group merged with them quickly.
Finish mountain wasn't so hard and we all had strength to attack after that. So, when Garzelli went forward, I followed and in few minutes we remained alone. I asked him is he want to get some seconds or he is going for the stage. He told me that he want to win a stage and I am preventing him from that, so I have to go away. Ok, I said and attacked. He tried to follow, but he already was on his maximum. So, I had an advantage and I just had to hold it.
GDS: Perfect result. To be honest, you have too much results this year. Some riders already rumored about doping.
ME: Well, you know, when someone can't fight on the track, they try to fight with you somewhere else. I don't care about that rumors. I made over 20 tests in this season and never had positive results.
GDS: Is it disturbing when WADA agents trying to get samples?
ME: Uhmm... It's their and my job, so... Well, it was a occurrence, when they came to my friend's birthday, it wasn't very good...
GDS: Ok, the Giro going to the end, what are you expecting from last stages?
ME: I'm not good in time trials, so I need to have some advantage before last stage. I know that I can't ascend to top-3, so my task for now is top-10, which is I think very good for a novice.
GDS: And after Giro?
ME: I have some goals for the rest of the season. First of all, it's National Championship, I want to be in top-5 there, Tour of Austria and first time ever having 2.HC category Tour of Sochi.
GDS: Well, good luck with that!
ME: Thank you!

Eighteen stage. Levico Terme - Brescia
Last flat stage. Some riders were exhausted after two mountain stages, some were preparing to future mountains or time trial... So, nobody wanted to chase big breakaway group consisted of 17 riders.
Breakaway made it to finish with 7 and a half minutes of advantage. We were unlucky today - nobody from Androni could make it to first group, so we just rolled like on training.
The winner today was [I think Tombola will be happy wit that] Frederik Veuchelen from Vacansoleil team. He made fantastic move right from last corner and nobody could match him.
Now we are heading to mountains. Good luck to me, I will need it.
Stage results:
1 | Frederik Veuchelen | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | 3h22'02 | 2 | Michael Barry | Sky Professional Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Steve Morabito | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 4 | Geoffroy Lequatre | Team RadioShack | s.t. | 5 | Manuele Mori | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 6 | Mario Aerts | Omega Pharma - Lotto | s.t. | 7 | Frantisek Rabon | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 8 | Francisco Javier AramendÃa | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 9 | Pasquale Muto | Miche | s.t. | 10 | Anders Lund | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. |

Nineteen stage. Brescia - Aprica
Open to everything happy and sad
Seeing the good when it's all going bad
Seeing the sun when I can't really see
Hoping the sun will at least look at me
It's Moby. Sleeping away. And it's the best words that I can found to describe what I was feeling today. The main job started at Passo Mortirolo. It's very long mountain with huge gradient. I think it was the hardest climb yet.
Liquigas boys increased peloton speed so hard, that only 10 riders remained in front. With km to mountain top I made the biggest mistake in this Race. I had a bottle of water, but I thought that I need another and went down to my technical car.
My move made a small space between riders and Pelilizzoti with Bruseghin had an advantage. They quickly started to leave us behind and on top they had already 1:30.
When we begun downhilling, Cobo, Popovych and Szmyd attacked. They made small gap and I had to start work hard as best downhiller in my group.
I didn't let them go far from us and when we started to climb to Aprica, my group-mates started to attack. I set on Garzelli's wheel.
We quickly joined a group in front of us and didn't slow down, as Popovych already leaved them. Garzelli suffered a lot today, so I decided to leave him and half of a mountain I was alone.
With 5 km to finish I passed Yaroslav and having Bruseghin in sight I tried to accelerate.
At finish I loosed just few meters to him. I was the best today and wouldn't I go back to have another bottle I could win today.
But you know, it wasn't so bad stage. I made huge work and now I have only 8 seconds lag to 3rd place in GC. I will try to beat Garzelli tomorrow.
Stage results:
1 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | 5h30'38 | 2 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | + 1'17 | 3 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 1'29 | 4 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | + 2'14 | 5 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | + 2'56 | 6 | Matteo Carrara | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | + 3'52 | 7 | Juan Manuel Gárate | Rabobank | s.t. | 8 | Ivan Basso | Liquigas - Doimo | + 4'00 | 9 | Igor Antón | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 10 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | s.t. |
GC:
1 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | 79h35'44 | 2 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | + 3'52 | 3 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | + 6'06 | 4 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 6'14 | 5 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | + 7'07 | 6 | Igor Antón | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 9'40 | 7 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | + 9'45 | 8 | Juan Manuel Gárate | Rabobank | + 10'30 | 9 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Colnago - CSF Inox | + 11'01 | 10 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | + 11'27 |

Small updates of last two stages. My game crashed on both finishes and I haven't any screens from there, so I don't want to write much about that.
Twentieths stage. Bormio - Tonale
It was very difficult stage for me. First of all I had to say "Good bye" to my dreams of top-3 finish, when on Passo di Gavia I realized that today is my "Giornatta No", the crisis day. My legs were in big pain and I just could roll my bike with intermediate speed. Of course, it wasn't enough for fight with Garzelli.
I finished 15th with 1'52 lag.
Stage results:
Last stage. Verona
Time trial stage. I haven't motivation to work on 100 per cent, as I lost yesterday too much time to fight today for a better position, and had big advantage from 6th placed Igor Anton. So, I made it in my own pace and I was very amazed when I knew that I finished 10th.
Stage results:
Right after the finish I was embraced by my parents and brother who came from Penza to Verona just for congratulate me. I've made it! I finished my first ever Grand-Tour! And I finished it on 5th position!
What will be next? REST! REST! and... REST!!! I won't ride my bike for a week, maybe more. I want to see Verona first. I want to go to Penza for a while. My next big race will be Russian National Championships, where I will see what my fitness will be.
But right now I don't thinking about racing, just about have a rest.
So long!
