Very nice coverage of Paris-Nice and Tirreno
I'm kinda hoping for a Frank Schleck revenge in Milan-San Remo, after what happened to him in my story |

This race no need introducing...
Robbie McEwen
Björn Leukemans
Chris Horner
Fred Rodriquez
Stefano Zanini
Leif Hoste
Mario Aerts
Wim van Huffel
What tactics we have..I dont trust anymore Robbie will find sprint power after those hills. Maybe Rodriquez is man what I need... Most of all I think I', gonna need Leukemans and Horner good ride..to get some result.
Actions starts when 200km still to ride...Hammond, Ivanov and Brechel atacks.
Brechel made it... he joins breakaway group where is van Goolen, Petrov, Rigotto and Zandio.
More 4 new faces to join...this times arrives Hammond, Ivanov, Noncentini and Geslin. This group looks now strong and big enough to stay clear.
Next heat section in 114 km. mark ...first one is Wegmann.
And more to come..Klier, Quinziato ,Gutierrez. I started to think this is dangerous enough Leukemans who's morale he's low..go follow them (maybe this can give ge'm some extra boost).
More atack's..Arvesen, Petito..whe can see real fireworks today..I never had seen such nervous peloton.
Gusev also..now we get 23 riders group at front with lot's of good names...peloton
should be worried. Peloton catches them.
Ok..this is different "color" now it's real...we got there Schleck, Sanchez Gonzales, Horner, Paolini and Gilbert. Dont need to calculate long...if this gonna work Horner dont have a chance with he's sprint skills.
Sanchez Gonzales..who has been clearly strongest at the group..decided to go..Horner moves front and trys to close this gap down. He getting back about 5 seconds..but this hurts to much.
At hill top..Horner trys to launch short atacks to get away...no chance..Ok lets face the situation..5.th isnt bad.
Eeh..(A.Schleck story teller will be surprised..F.Schleck down again Milano - SanRemo) Oh dear..that one hurts..when he get's back to the bike group has gone...and peloton clsosing. Sry. but seems that peloton will be "eat" him.
Beautiful win for Euskaltel rider..this might be he's career most important moment.
No power left to sprint against Paolini and Gilbert...(and that will be miracle if Horner has won those guys in the sprint). Thats it 4th. ...what I think? Good result!

You must be read my mind..after Milano-San Remo it's time take a look to UCI rankings page.
Individual:
Sanchez Gonzales have a solid lead...Chris Horner 7th.
Teams:
10th. no disaster and thank to Chris again. After cobble races should expect Predictor-Lotto to move higher..and also expacted the same for CSC and Quickstep...
Most of all I afraid Giro..this is gonna long suffering. |

Next stop:
Settimana Ciclistica Internazionale
Cadel Evans
Stefano Zanini
Dario Cioni
Christophe Brandt
Wim Vansevenant
Bert Roesems
Pieter Mertens
Dominique Cornu
Cadel is out at first time at the new season. I'm not planning to push him to take a win. In that tour we got also short TTT...We will loose there also some time. If there will be hill atacks then Brandt will be man to follow.
Some other big names also opens he's season at the same race... like:
Cunego; Kloden; Di Luca

Stage 1
Riccione - Riccione
One hill only, but this is perfect place..who like take a win, he should atack there.
This is like..some big tour. Good to see first time names has Kloden, Cunego, Savoldelli; Rogers and Di Luca.
Zanini is in breakaway group today..he takes some sprint points ...
Hill and atacks..first one is Noe..to soon. Brandt wait..
Sella, Savoldelli, Ghisalberti..this is the moment Brandt counters...still over 1km. to the hill top..lets hope he's gonna last.
We have a problem...Brandt cant follow atackers...
He decending well..and catches group. They have 1'15 advantage. Now lets prepeare for sprint I dont expect that Brandt will be shine after that difficult hill atack.
Marco Velo takes the win...Cadel finishes with peloton..1'30 behind.

Dwars door Vlaanderen
Kortrijk - Waregem
Leif Hoste
Tom Steels
Björn Leukemans
Roy Sentjens
Wim van Vocht
Bart Dockx
Preben van Hecke
Olivier Kaisen
This should be fun..to see how Hoste who is almost on he's top form will be manage.Still no Boonen and Steegmans in the start list..what Tom he's thinking..he is not taking any cobble races this year.
70km. to go and one of favorite Hincapie puncture..tempo isnt high yet, he can take he's position back in the peak.
Action starts..split. We find all favorites in that 17 riders group.
21km. to go...Hincapie atacks in the cobble section Hoste responds.
10km. to Hincapie, Hoste and Flecha leading. but look at behind O'Grady is coming..this guy already made for me so much trouble in that season.
No mercy..O'Grady caches and moves also front and set's highest tempo has possible. When Hoste is almost on he's best form..then what O'Grady have?
O'Grady opens the sprint..and we cant find no man to follow. Flecha is out of competition Hincapie and Hoste will decide who gonna be 2nd.
For me todays winner is rider of the month candidate with Adriatico dominator Schumacher. Hoste can speed up with Hincapie..but dont has power to pass him.
For me good result is that Hoste is very close on he's best form...and I should expect good results on he's main event.

I'll echo that feeling: where the heck is Boonen?
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

Stage 2
Misano - Adriatico
Short TTT..I have always problems with TTT...cant get perfect ride. Taking to carefuly or..killing my squad in the middle of the stage.
Terrible..Lotto team was able just to beat Panaria and OTC Doors team..
Tinkoff is good today..this team just love those italian races..3rd. +6sec.
Liquigas is always dangerous TTT team..They started well but in the finish line +28 and 8th.
Astana and TT talents 2nd. +4
T-Mobile wins this stage and also yellow belongs to them.
Only Brandt has left to possition to get some decent result in final GC.

Stage 3
Castel San Pietro - Faenza
Alberto Ongarato leading a sprint..biggest threat seems to be Acqua Sapone rider Gabriele Balducci. Stefano Zanotti is most beautiful surprise for me...he starts sprint when he was about 15th. in the group. Now he's trying to sprint himself in top 3. Great fighting spirit.
Ongarato is clearly best today..Zanini was close..at the end 4th. good ride. This tour isnt over..tomorrow uphill finish will be decisive...still my main hope is that Brandt getting few places hire in GC.

Harelbeke - Harelbeke
Another attempt to Hoste to take season first win..that should be reasnoble demanding because we dont have Hincapie, CSC force, Flecha...and surprise surprise..no Boonen eather.
Leif Hoste
Fred Rodriquez
Tom Steels
Björn Leukemans
Wim de Vocht
Olivier Kaisen
Bart Dockx
Greg van Avermaet
We have realy hard weather..raining and cobbles. Lot of crashes...thinking of winning replaced with thought..Hoste have to survive without injury.
Action Auger going for solo 78km. to go.
Split...55km. to go..when Quickstep sets higher tempo..we have decisive split. Hoste with helpers was well placed..now we race and lets start chase down Auger who had already 2'45 advantage.
38km. to go...Hoste is serious to win today. Tempo is not fast enough for him..and cap between Auge is almost same. Come on Björn help me out lets go.
Quickstep duo Vasseur, Creskens chasing. Hoste feeling very confortable..he is in top shape and Leukemans drag him very well.
This was fast..in the climb 10 km after tempo boost, there is Auge. Well done Leukemans..Quickstep duo is still about 45 sec. behind.
Thanks team mate..now it's my turn..follow if you can..I dont want think to oportunity that Quickstep duo catching us.
Hoste is gone..and ups this is not duo..trio they have already. Looks like Hoste takes easy win..now the main question is will be Leukemans survive.
Well done..Hoste takes a season first win. Now he's ready for main Pro Tour cobble races...dont have pressured anymore to take a win.
..and this is even better..man who had done today most of the work crossing a line in second place. Being smart later on..Hoste should take a lead and should help also Leukemans. Total domination...schoking statistics..only 74. riders finishing that race..
This is realy something...

the AI's selection policy is insane.... no Boonen or Steegmans on cobbles. no decent sprinters at the Settimana Coppi/Bartali....no top sprinters at Paris-Nice
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

You right..I cant wait who is in the start list in Gent - Wevelgem and Paris - Roubaix.
I already am suspicious that Klöden will be in Giro..lets hope I'am wrong. This is my first season with 07 surpises..surprises.
At least AI choosing Lotto team perfectly in every race...almost no need to change that list.
