If Rasmussen is human he had lost lot of "blood" today.
Rabo tactic move bring Menchov back saved Rasmussen today.

First was Andy in Giro, now is Contador, and who will be in Vuelta?

the thing is:
if Rasmussen hadn't been given freedom on the stage to Tignes, Contador would win the Tour |

He might still win, Landis may be stripped of his title

This exactly what i wanted, vino to win a mountain stage. If he didn't crash in the stage to tignes he would have won the tour no doubt about that. Contador is clearly the strongest climber in this tour |

I don't agree there. Vino has been quite inconsistant anyway.

What great racing over the last two days.
reminds us all why we enjoy cycling. rasmu riding great altough looking like the effort is too much today. Vino unbelivable what a character showing real passion on Sat and today. Contador is looking good but really want rasmu for the win, he has been a great cyclist for years and contador will have many more cracks at the tour.
If contador rides as well on wed then I will be a bit suspicious as he has attacked the most but still looking strongest?? (Plus the Discovery link)
as a aside south Africans Really proud of Barloworld And Hunter what a difference this is goning to make in our cycling

I'd agree - after his fall, he took a long time to recover, and was way out of it - so he put everything into the TT, as he was no longer going for the GC, just stage wins - then he just relaxed and recovered the day after, then he had the strength again today

I have to give credit to Sastre. 7th overall with an injured knee is unbelievable. I can only wonder what that man would do if he were fit...
my personal view on things right now? same as yesterday. Contador is the biggest pick for the overall win.

So what if ras wins the tour, it will be great, contador will many in th future, doesnt mean he has to win them all because you want him too. Great for rasmussen, i think he plans to dive back into mountain biking soon.

honestly karl...read a little before you write
and above all, don't take conclusions on things I didn't say and stop putting words in my mouth
firstly, I was only making a point about last year's story repeating itself (guy given lee-way and then turns contender) and about him most likely not winning without that same leeway.
secondly, the LAST thing I want is for Contador to win. I'd even have Valverde win before I would Contador

I don't think Contador will win for 7 years or something.
There are other talents who will come up and rise. What about A.Schleck and Dekker, they are much younger and could become even stronger. Schleck already being a world class climber with a decent TT, and Dekker a world class time triallist with decent climbing ablilties. If they devolop their weaknesses and become stronger they could become very good opponents to Contador. |
