Welcome at the start of this year's Nokere-Koerse. Unfortunately for the cyclists and the spectator, the weather is dreadful. The temperature is 7 degrees and it's raining. Nevertheless, a lot of spectator have shown up along the route.

And of course, as in every cycling race, some riders are trying to ride away from the peleton. The first riders to do so today are Miletta (VIN) and Domagalski (CJR).

Many riders followed them, but the peleton is still close behind.

Good news for the morning break, because the lead is over a minute. We will give you the names: Schmidt (SOJ), Stepniak (CCC), Chaoufi (EUS), Corbel (BSE), Valls (VCD), Reijnen (UHC) and the 2 early attackers, Miletta and Domagalski.

News from Moto 3, Maarten Wynants (BEL) has fallen. He tries to get back to the peloton.

The lead increased to 2 minutes, the peleton is leading by IAM, Lotto and Belkin, with Wynants back in the peleton.

And here's Moto3 again, and another crash in the peleton. This time, it's Cardoso (CJR). He will get back to the peleton eventually.

The break has conquered the first cobbled section and has now entered the local laps around Nokere. The gap increased to 3 minutes.

The break hits the next cobbled section, and, what's this? Reijnen has a puncture. The gap is 4 minutes now.

It's raining punctures today. Domene (CJR) is the next victim.

The break (with Reijnen) is now 5 minutes clear of the peleton, but the gap is decreasing

The gap is back to 4 and a half minutes. Europcar, Sky and Garmin are doing the most work now. Everybody who had a puncture or a crash is back inside the peleton.

Bad news for Garmin. Their leader Nick Nuyens has fallen.

The gap is down to 3 and a half minutes. Nuyens returned to the peleton, but the question is, has he been affected by the crash?

2 laps remaining here, and the break still holds a 2 minute lead? Will they be caught by the peleton?

The break has realised that they must do something to stay ahead. Valls, Stepniak and Reijnen attack.

All 3 groups in 1 helicopter shot. The 3 leaders are 40 seconds ahead of the other 5, who are 30 seconds ahead of the peleton.
