Double Feature | THE END
Ian Butler
FreitasPCM - Indeed, he mostly bridged the gap on the climb, and Schleck just took over the final 100m to take the win!

PCM rulezz - Thanks Wink

rogvi97 - I'll try my best, but the competition is fierce!

JuanMotr - It's actually a variant from the name of a friend of mine, with whom I was camping when I was thinking out A Tale of Two Wink

sutty68 - We'll try everything to make that happen!

baia - Thanks, will do! Wink

krisa - Sorry Pfft

Miguel98 - Two stages already... Someone should tell him this is Australia! Grin

maxime86 - Now we're there Wink

Will do at least one stage today. Got something to do later on, though, so I'll watch San Remo afterwards. Anyway, will see about this evening Wink

Stijn Van Gent

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 6

The final race, a criterium. Today's objective: gain 6 boni seconds for Tom.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du01_zpscca93893.jpg

We let a small group go, against our best efforts, and so Slagter missed the first intermediate sprint. He came over the line third.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du02_zps27861cc2.jpg

We took control of the rest of the race and easily took the second intermediate sprint. Did it work? We would find out at the finish!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du03_zps4c5cf082.jpg

Maaskant hit the tarmac quite badly!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du04_zpsc9e9d927.jpg

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du05_zps3fe3b1eb.jpg

Finally, it was time to sprint. Veelers with the perfect launch!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du06_zps8489c8d4.jpg

But my efforts to get Slagter in the GC-lead were too great and I missed a couple percentages to get my usual finishing sprint.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/du07_zpsc2d606c1.jpg

Overall a very tough race. It was under 100 km but the intensity was great, with repeated attempts to gain boni seconds.

Well, we didn't make it. Last year Slagter was third, now second. We can only hope for the win next year! He did great and we're all very proud of him. And I had a good race, with a stage win. So overall we can't be disappointed here!

Ruta de San Luis

Hey everyone! I'm back in Belgium for a little while, before going back to Spain. Just wanted to let you know the result of the Ruta de San Luis. John Degenkolb didn't make the same mistake as last year and is already in great shape. He took one stage win and survived the hills well! So let's look at the final result.

Young Rider: John Degenkolb
Best Team: Vacansoleil

Wow, not many live to tell the tale, but John Degenkolb beat Chris Froome in a stage race with hilly stages and a time trial! What a beast, he is!

It's almost time for me to come into action, in the race where I won my first stage race, Vuelta Ciclista a Mallorca!
See you there,
Willy

BikeRoel
ooooh, just two seconds behind Taaramae and nice win in the Ruta de San Luis Wink

PCM rulezz
Nice GC win for Degenkolb Grin 13" on Froome is not nothing Wink
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

Mordekaiser
So close with slagte!

FreitasPCM
Wow, Degenkolb Shock

sutty68
A Great finish from Stijn in Adelaide Wink

And what a performance from Degenkolb in Argentina Smile

Ian Butler
BikeRoel - Thanks. Those damn 2 seconds! Really appreciate your comments, nice to have you on board Wink

PCM rulezz - Froome was blown away with boni seconds in the sprints!

Mordekaiser - A bit too close. Unfortunate for him, but the year is long, he'll have his time Smile

FreitasPCM - Exactly my reaction Pfft

sutty68 - Thanks, the team did well Down Under, I think. Degenkolb is a monster Wink

What a monstrous, tiring day. Will try to do a stage but I might be too tired. I'll see. Otherwise it's tomorrow!

Ian Butler
Spoiler
Stage 1 and 2 seemed bugged so I had to quick sim. Hope the final two stages will be playable!

Vuelta Ciclista a Mallorca

Hey everyone,

We started our campaign in Mallorca with two flat stages. We only have internet now so here's our quick review on the first half of the race!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca01_zps21597794.jpg

Willy is here to defend the win! Rodriguez is here alongside him, but since Willy was last year's winner, both are leaders. Rodriguez is not in a favorable shape yet, anyway... Biggest rival: shape-of-his-life Andy Schleck.

The first race saw a strong breakaway that was not reeled in on time. Stijn won the mass sprint, though.

Vuelta Ciclista a Mallorca - Stage 3

This is the stage where Willy took his first win last year. It was an epic solo with a final sprint against Andy Schleck!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca301_zps59d5f512.jpg

It sure is hilly. A great day to test Rodriguez's and Willy's form!

Stijn Van Gent

The weather conditions were bad with a lot of rain. The peloton ripped in pieces fairly soon.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca303_zps7d4af5be.jpg

I had no goals today so I saw today as a good training.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca304_zps6f4ad8d7.jpg

Willy Wouters

Keen to repeat last year's success, I once again attacked on the first slope.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca302_zps7d201bc7.jpg

However, they didn't let me go far this time. I took two mountain points and saw it was useless to resist. After a 30 km solo, I got back in the pack and decided to protect Rodriguez.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca305_zps069e1e35.jpg

Because of the wasted energy and the difficult conditions, I made a snap decision to forgo my GC plans and go 100% for the mountain jersey. Cunego will be my biggest enemy here!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca306_zpsed41118c.jpg

After the final mountain points, we got away with a small group. I emptied myself for Rodriguez.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca307_zps8939831d.jpg

My job then was done. Just a couple more 100 meters to the top and then it was downhill to the finish.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca308_zps70815e07.jpg

Unfortunately, Rodriguez is not in his best shape yet, so he had to let a small gap, which, in the descend, got bigger. The sprint for the win was won by Kiserlovski!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca309_zps258bc1f7.jpg

I managed to finish in front of the peloton and actually come into the top 10 of the GC. However, tomorrow will all be about the mountain jersey for me!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/mallorca310_zps70c40c31.jpg

A good day for us, I reckon. We're not 100% yet, but of course it's way too early for that!
