Not to mention Crommy's famous "I'm better than googling than you quiz" and Wildcat000 being a member of the crew.
I'll have you know, none of that was googled!
I believe you Crommy, just like I believe that Bigfoot is real. |

In this world. Watching it is extremely high comedy, and absolutely fantastic.
I want to get into it, but it is such a fringe sport no one plays it. |

I know theres a lot of Contador lovers on the forum, so I decided to help them out on Valentines day by showing them the perfect thing for Bert. You know he'll love it! Go for large, he loves red-meat.

London 2012 Schedule: https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi...hedule.pdf
Time to start the planning! Cycling wise, I want to be on Box Hill for the Mens Road race, and in London for the time trials. Box Hill I expect could be hard to get to, but its the only real place on the circuit to see the riders multiple times.
I think I might give the Velodrome a miss. On Friday Im going to the Track World Cup in Manchester. For £17 I will be seeing the Semi finals and final of the Mens Sprint, the Womens Team Pursuit, the Womens Team Sprint, the Mens Individual Pursuit, and the Points race and Elimination race in the Mens Omnium.
For London 2012, the minimum I can pay to see the final of an event is £50, and even then I would see less action than I will see on Friday. The events you get to see for £20 Olympic tickets are ridiculous.
Theres:
- Mens Omnium Flying Lap, Mens Sprint Qualifying (so, Flying lap again) and Mens Sprint 1/16 round.
or
- Mens Omnium Individual Pursuit, Womens Sprint Qualifying
or
- Mens Keirin Round 1 and Repechage,s Womend Omnium Individual pursuit
And at most, that provides 90 minutes of action for your £20. This friday, my £17 will give 3 and a half hours of action.

It's the Olympics, people will pay more.
I should have a job by then, so hopefully will have enough disposable income for one day in the athletics stadium,
I can't decide whether or not to go to box hill, I suspect it depends on how easy it will be to find a pub showing the finish in the vicinity of the climb. With the time trial being free I will definitely try and get a spot on the finish line for that.
Other interesting events are the swimming on the 29th, South Africa's best gold medal chance+ 4x100m relay final. Also the 4th of August has an awesome evening in the track: Ennis, Khotso, and the mens and womens 10,000.
I'm really excited right now

Should probably put all discussion in one thread
I guess they moved the Shooting event that was first in Beijing, to at least give the chance for Britain to take the first Gold. The circuits over Box Hill rather than around London may alter Cavendish's chances a little, but as far as many will be concerned, flat finish, Cavendish is the #1 favourite.
Yeah, and while he is definitely no 1. favourite I feel with so few riders per team a small group will manage to get away before the finish, the hills having damaged the sprinters legs just enough.

I think Id be willing to miss the finish in order to see Box Hill - but Im sure therell be places to watch, and maybe its possible to see the first few laps of Box Hill, then head in to London who knows. My provisional, very early, plan is to get an early as train as possible to Dorking - seems close to Box Hill if you like on Google Maps, then walk to a good spot and wait.
The fact I have no idea where Ill be living come on the Olympics is a slight planning hindrance, but I dont really care at the moment.
The Athletics, Swimming, and probably Track Cycling - the finals of them are all going to be heavily booked i reckon. Ill probably try to get tickets for one of the non-final Athletics sessions though, to get go in the Stadium. Otherwise, Ill aim to get to as many Sports as possible.

I think the tickets are allocated by a lottery, so I'll probably apply for a load of stuff, see what I get and then go to whatever I can.
4 beach volleyball matches for £20 looks pretty good value, the rowing on the other hand is pretty expensive for something in the middle of no where, with 4km of bank to stand upon.

I think it may be a case of, you apply for tickets you want
- If that event happens to not sell out, ticket is yours
- If the event is over subscribed, ballot
Its not an ideal process, for sure. Archery for example, I want to see. But It seems the best I should do is apply for 1 session, and If I dont get that - tough. Because if I apply for more than 1, I could end up getting more than 1, which also, is not necesarilly ideal.
Fortunately, the biggest event for me, that I MUST see is the Road Cycling. And its Free

In Beijing if you applied you could still not take up the ticket you won, I only managed to get handball through the ballot system, however I couldn't make it up for that in the end, so just didn't take the tickets and no one complained.
I don't know if the system has changed or not though.
and I agree that road cycling is the only must do.
