@ all - Thanks!

@ tsmoha - Yeah, it must've been created by a great stagemaker. Wink

And I thought it was about time I returned the favour after Dark Dog raced my Giro and Vuelta back in PCM10. I also really like this route, since it's very balanced. Fuglsang likes it too. Not too much climbing. Smile

Favourites:

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/juanjo_cobo.jpg

As defending champion, we've got to see Juan José Cobo as the big favourite. His tactic so far in the season has once again been to save race days for this very race. That means we'll have to deal with a strong, fresh, motivated and top shaped reigning champ. He'll be very, very hard to beat I reckon.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/marco_marzano.jpg

After a rather disappointing Giro, where he seemed to be far from top form, Marco Marzano seeks another opportunity to prove his strength in a Grand Tour. By far the best climber in the field, but will once again suffer in the time trials. Also, the lack of mountain top finishes doesn't exactly speak in his favour.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/sergio_henao.jpg

The very talented Sergio Henao rode the Giro as a support for Kanstantsin Sivtsov, and after doing so very well, he gets the chance to lead Sky's Vuelta squad. His climbing has just continued to improve throughout the season, turning him into the second best climber in the whole field, behind the man above.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/steven_kruijswijk.jpg

Previous WorldTour leader and Tour Down Under winner, Steven Kruijswijk, will be the spearhead in the Vodafone squad. They're seeking revenge for the disappointing Tour, which ended with a yellow man crashing. The young Dutchman will be a solid bet for a Top 5 overall, due to the weak field.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/jakob_fuglsang.jpg

Lastly, we've got our own leader, Fuglsang. We think and hope that he'll be one of the strongest riders in the whole race, due to his allround capacity. In this very weak field where most favourites has a bit too many race days, we'll actually go for a longshot and hope for a overall podium in Barcelona!

Great to see it rolling again..Wink
I was thinking to myself..."this might be a little early for those 93 fitness"...then i thought again..."maybe would have been better if Fuglsang had his fitness like Bözic"...but then i thought again(incredible:lolSmile....."other way, this 93 fitness might do the difference in 3rd stage".....so,after all this thoughts (after workGrin) i wish you good luck..Wink

@ all - Thanks. I look forward to it as well. Smile

@ baia - Stage three is the target. I'll try to use Fuglsang's great form in the beginning of the race to gain time on the other contenders. Plus, the last week is pretty easy to be honest. There's just one mountain stage there. Smile

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01.png

A traditional prologue kicks off the racing down on the Canary Islands. The starting ramp is up in the city's high grounds, from where the riders will drop down to the sea, and then take on a slightly uphill final kilometer.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_01.jpg

Miche's Tom Zirbel pulled off the best early time. Quite a large lead for the American as well. It'll be very interesting to see what the wildcard team can do in this Vuelta, chasing stage wins with a strong looking squad.
8'07

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_02.jpg

A new best time was clocked just minutes later though. To our delight, it was Joost Posthuma who was the man responsible for this. Zirbel was blown away completely here, by 12 seconds!
7'55

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_03.jpg

Then it took quite a while before another notable time was received. Yet another Miche rider in charge. This time Portuguese champion Nelson Oliveira, who placed himself in between the two top times.
8'05

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_04.jpg

And if Posthuma hadn't already made our day brilliant, Fuglsang did. An amazing ride from our GC leader, less than a second slower than his team mate, but still in second place.
7'55

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_05.jpg

Frantisek Rabon came closer than anyone else had managed so far, but still didn't really challenge our duo at the absolute top of the standings. Still a very nice ride by the former Czech champion.
8'00

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_06.jpg

I started to realize how good our riders had actually ridden when not even world time trial champion Fabian Cancellara could match up. Third time for Spartacus, three seconds away from the lead.
7'58

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_08.jpg

Also Peter Sagan failed to take the lead, when just a few riders were left to start this prologue. It started to look better and better by now, with this many top time triallists failing to match our duo.
8'02

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_07.jpg

Then the next shock struck us. Mr. 80 fitness, Jurgen Van den Broeck somehow managed to move himself around the course at an amazing speed, placing himself just behind Cancellara, in fourth!
7'58

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/project/vae_01_09.jpg

Last man who we really saw as a threat was Juan José Cobo. Although being everything but one of the stronger timetriallists in the race, the defending champ pulled off a great ride, finishing fifth on the day.
7'59

Lastly, what happened to Lars Boom? Well, I accidently left him on 95 effort instead of 85, which blew him up halfway through the course. Obviously an unnecessary mistake, and I apologize for my bungle.

Wow, domination, you showed them your strength! Fuglsang already up front, after the first stage! And the Zirbel screen is absolutely beautiful! Shock

@ all - Thanks once again. Was indeed quite a way to start things off! Smile

@ baia - Yeah, sorry for that. I fixed it when I saw your comment.

@ Avin - Exactly what I think as well. I reckon he's the only other contender who's fresh enough to actually pull off a real battle for this. Wink
