Have lots of group works in my engineering study at the moment. Normally 2 guys doing most work for a 3 or 4 men group. This can be really annoying as I am normally one of the working guys.
Not that they are just lazy, they are also to dump for this sometimes and you just think how they reached the 3rd semester. |

I was just going to recommend a maths degree as a way to avoid group work, I've worked alone for 4 years now, not a group project in sight.

We once (class 5 or 6) had to do some group work for music and finally the teacher said: "You can be happy with a 5-" (2nd worst mark in Germany).
This year we only had some groupwork in biology. Always lots of fun as we finished much earlier than the others and biology in general is interesting. Not like math or physik

I don't dislike group work. But I hate when the teacher makes random groups. When you choose groups yourself you can pair yourself up with people who have the same idea of "success" as yourself.
For some just passing might be the goal of the group, for others getting a top grade is the goal. And when these types end up together the good ones will have to settle for a lesser result due to people below them in competence will drag them down.
I do lots of group work myself, and the High School education I have chosen is specified towards group work in a greater sense than other are here in Denmark, and am fortunate to have found two great group mates in my class where we all three want to do the best possible end result and that reflects on our projects.
And SN, making a great powerpoint isn't 'easy'. Making a bad powerpoint is easy, but to make a great one takes lots of time. A thumb rule is that to make a 5 minute presentation you have to use 20 minutes on the powerpoint. But a great powerpoint can be a difference maker of the presentation.

Get them out of the group. That's what I've done whenever I've found myself in such situation.
Well, it was only once, but still. |

20 minutes working on Powerpoint vs 20 minutes researching. Imo, Powerpoint is easier, and more interesting. Besides, part of the motivation in taking the powerpoint role is also to make sure the powerpoint doesnt end up being rubbish

If this was possible I would have done it immediately. But either you get a mark as group or you fail.
In other group works it was possible, but not in all unfortunately.
But actually I learn for myself and if the other guys don`t want to do anything than they get a good mark in this group work but not later if they have to do it on their own.
So I don`t really care as long as there are still others in my group to share work with. |

I sometimes get the sense group work is made mandatory by teachers so that they dont have to mark as many projects as opposed to it being an indiviual project
Also I just hate having rely on other people most of the time.
I think this exact group Im in has two control freaks (myself being one of them) which doesnt mix.
Edit: Also sorry about the missing apostrophe, doesnt seem to be a button on my Ipod alternative.

That sucks then. It doesn't make much sense to force some people to work for others who do nothing. |

So, 1½ year ago I was at a stag party with my brother-in-law. For whatever reason, I said I would easily destroy him if we went to France and climbed Mont Ventoux. The challenge was accepted, and we've tried to find a proper date since then. We finally sorted it out, and we're going on the 1st of June (although not to Ventoux, but to the Alp d'Huez area instead).
The only problem? He has been up several other mountains before. Me? Never. And I'm playing American football. Not really the kind of guy who should sit on a bike and try to get up tough mountains. I don't even own a race bike. |

Hope you enjoy
I also don`t ride that much unfortunately and prefer football and other things.
Maybe I should move my bike to my new town and ride again a bit. I always wanted to climb Alpe d'Huez or similar mountains but living in the very flat North of Germany doesn`t train. |

Start training already. I'm sure you can find plenty of good training roads in the very mountainous Denmark. |

Next time someone talks about cycling up something, try to remind yourself you are nowhere near the ideal height or weight to be a pro cyclist.
