Top 50 for Nechita. I'd say that's pretty good for someone who doesn't even ride in the top 3 "divisions"

Yeah, and he was actually holding on to the group for a long time, which is good.
Though to be fair, only 61 people finished. On the other hand, that he does manage to ride it out without becoming last is quite impressive...

Tomorrow on sports newspapers Rui won't figure in the cover.
Not this time!!

He's talking about newspapers, not Record
Record is a sports newspaper. If they are giving so much atention to Rui's win, tomorrow will be for sure a split cover between Rui and João Sousa... like 70/30 |

It wasn't an easy route at all. So it's quite an achievement that he managed to finish the race

Simply amazing ride by Costa,he timed everything perfectly, really superb reading the race and use that to his advantage.
Very gutsy perfom from Nibali,he had to do the chasing if he wanted to win it at home, too bad he didn t finish on the podium.
As for the spaniards,WOW,how could you messed this again?the first attack of Purito was perfect but the second one was clearly every man for himself,if Purito stayed with Valverde and protected him to the finish Valverde will win it on the sprint.
It will be awesome to see Rui Costa wearing the rainbow jersey from now on,hope to see him in Lombardy. |

So sorry for Purito. Congratz to Costa, very smart riding. Overall a great race.

Nothing against Costa's win, but there were 2 guys who deserved it more. And Valverde is just incredibly dumb.
Yeah, and those who "deserve" it more are better than Costa in a lot of things cycling-wise, just not in what counted the most, intelligence. The romantic thaugh of "who deserves" is bollocks if you ask me. |

Well, now that I have stopped all my celebrations, let's make a comment on the race, biased remarks apart now.
Wonderfuly done by Rui Costa, he was the smartest in the group, and really showed that he isn't an unknown rider anymore. Every good rider must have an eye on him, because he can surprise and take wins like this easily. As for Purito, he was the one who deserved the gold the most, he won't have many chances now... Felt really sorry for him, not sure how the Ponferrada circuit will be, but I'd like him to go for the gold there... but Spain can only blame themselves for not winning. Shame for Urán as well, wonder how it would have finished if he hadn't had that crash. And finally, wtf result from Grivko and a good placement for Clarke and Nordhaug who have been in their shadow this season. And a plus for Nechita. Where are the WT or PROF teams to sign him?
And as for the newspapers, I wouldn't be suprised if they have a cover saying that Matic likes roasted beef, or Cardozo went to the bathroom two times to poo.

Wow, what a race! Really enjoyed that, possibly the best World Championships in a few years for me.
You have to wonder if Nibali would have been stronger in the final 10km if he hadn't gone down just a bit earlier. Fantastic win for Costa. Perfectly timed attack, although a bit lucky. Of course I wanted Valverde to win but that didn't happen.
Does anyone know what Purito was saying when he attacked with about 3km to go and made a hand signal to (Im assuming) Valverde, and then when he kind of sat up and talked with Costa quite extensively for being in the final 1km of the World Championships and all? That just seemed weird to me.

After Freire last year, Valverde again creates a misunderstanding with a teammate |

For F**K sake Great Britian you are S**T, no I'm only joking it not all your falt I just thought at least one of you would finish. Thought it should have been abandoned because only 61 riders finished out of over 200, not just saying this because GB did rubbish.
