I thought the WC's purpose was to make all teams give their best to get to the final? It seems that many teams are trying to get eliminated as soon as possible.
Clearly understandable, holiday > World Championship.

If you go by the book, it was a penalty. Problem is, there would be ten penalties each game.

He dived, so in a perfect game, no penalty.

Well, he dived, but the defender did pull his shirt. So, in a perfect game, penalty and both players yellow carded.

You can`t give him a yellow card for diving but give a penalty.
Of course he fell much too easily but because of the pulling there is no dive. |

France are a joke and a laughing stock but as an Englishman is funny to see at laugh at their demise , England are bad but nowhere near that bad.

This World Cup is for the underdogs, I think England, Germany, Portugal, France and Italy will go out in the group stage, Brazil and Spain will go out in the 2nd round of quarter finals, Argentina and Holland might make it to the final, but I think a team lke Chile, Ivory Coast or Denmanr have a chance, with the way its going.

I disagree. Of the teams you said would go out I think only France will go out, while and the Ivory Coast won't make it. Chile will be the big suprise team in my opinion. Brazil and Spain will be stronger in the knockout rounds, as big teams always are. They should make it far as well.
I think that Brazil will win the whole thing, even though I started off predicting that Spain would win, and then that Germany would win. Brazil are still strong and get stronger.
Just my two cents. |

They'll beat Slovenia. But only just.

Like England, only need to win against Ghana to go trough. And I doubt they won't win.

Possibly. Depends on how big their defeat against Brazil will be compared to Ivory Coast.

Agreed.

Except Spain will finish 2nd in their group and will face Brazil in the 1/8 finals.

No way in hell they do anything better than getting through to the 2nd round. Luck only takes you so far.
And of course my predictions will be spot on. Don't doubt it!

I stand by my pre-WC prediction. Brazil are the best team.
Doesn't mean they'll win. Luck plays a major part

I'd say Spain are very strong this year and could win the WC.
Brazil 1-0 Ivory Coast. Both teams are equals but Fabiano gave the lead to Brazil. IC are going to show whether they can get back. Looks like there should be a great second half

We'll. It wasn't exactly a great start for Spain and they need adjustments to their play. IF Switzerland can knock them down, plenty of teams can. I find it hard to imagine, that not a single team(one more team) wouldn't be able to shut them down. Xavi, Busquets and Xabi Alonso are way too much the same type of player. A playmaker, and too "calm". None of them runs deep, which is very important when playing with Davis Villa upfront, who likes to pull back a little. They need to play Fabregas or to move Iniesta down to one of those places. They could make room for Jesus Navas, who adds some width to their play. Something they lacked very much in the first game. Their terrible full backs played a part in that failure too. |

They lack decent players for that position, no way to get around that.

Severely overrated.

True. Ramos is mega-overrated too (usually happens to R.Madrid players) and Capdevila is like the only decent left fullback they have. Not too much can be done 'bout this. |

Off course they are not the exact same type, but they bring the same stuff. Secure with the ball and able too play accurat through passes(Xavi best off course), but that doesn't help them when Villa goes deep, Iniesta goes to the middle in the search for the ball and David Silva is just.... Well no where to be seen.
They really miss Senna, who filled both Xabi Alonso and Busquets place. He was great defensively AND able too play long passes. Back then in Euro 2008, they had Villa, Iniesta or Fabregas too play behind the striker, which brought much more to their play.
Navas might be overrated, but he does manage to create some width on a very narrow team, which is important when Ramos or Capdevilla didn't get forward enough. |

New Zealand are a poor team but Italy still only managed a draw, this world cup is so unpredicatable, you don't know whos going to win anymore, most competitive world cup i hav ever seen. I hope England go through but Slovenia are a decent team but I want Slovenia to go through because it will feel good if the USA don't get through so hopefully 1-0 England and USA 0-0.
