Scolari just announced Portugal's 23 for the euro.
Absolutely no surprises (except for people living in a cave).
Scolari as the coach + crappy team selection = first round exit

what the hell. shouldn't he be running the 100 meters?
In the pre-season training camp he got the minimum B time in the 100 meters for the Olympics...
Rui Faria (basically one of the most respected, if not THE most recognised football fitness coach in the world) said that two of Portugal's (and former Porto) right-backs have, one of them fastest speed he's ever seen in any player (Bosingwa) and the other the best stamina he's ever seen on anyone, marathon runners included (Paulo Ferreira)

Bosingwa (Had to be in)
Miguel (Had to be in)
Paulo Ferreira (Already knew he was gonna be in)
Jorge Ribeiro (2nd choice)
Bruno Alves (Had to be in)
Fernando Meira (I really don't see what he has done to be in)
Ricardo Carvalho (Had to be in)
Pepe (Had to be in)
Petit (Experience counted a lot, and he will play an important role)
Miguel Veloso (He's the portuguese Fabio, plus never saw him play a good game)
Deco (Had to be in)
João Moutinho (Capable of the best and the worst of games so he's a wildcard really)
Raúl Meireles (The Defence-Attack transitions will be up to him)
Simão Sabrosa (No comments)
Ricardo Quaresma (No comments)
Cristiano Ronaldo (He'll break a leg in the first game if we're lucky)
Nani (No comments)

Im loving the detail , if thats one thing portugal does lack its a striker i dont know this almeida that much but i would have started afresh taking strikers from your own league, doesnt Braga have a decent striker?

Almeida plays at Werder Bremen... Very tall, string player... Search in youtube "Almeida Inter" and you'll see the best thing he has done in all of his career... But he is still the best we've got...
Oh, and Braga don't have a decent striker... The closest they've got to a striker is Linz but he's Austrian...
Linz is pretty decent. better than Postiga and Gomes. much, much better.
Our biggest problem is the lack of a defensive midfielder, which is the most important position on any team these days. We don't have a world class one, therefore we have zero chance.
I'm disappointed that Maniche isn't there. He was the best player in the tournament (and I mean of all teams) in both 2004 and 2006. too bad he hasn't done anything decent at a club since his unbelievably good season with Porto. When he's on form he's about the best player I've ever seen, tactically.
The other thing we need badly, isn't exactly a full-back, or even a striker. it's a goalie that won't fuck up every single time he has to leave the goal posts behind either to deal with a cross or with a rushing attacker. Ricardo, that means you.
It would also help if he wasn't an asshole who thinks he's brilliant and who will stab anyone and everyone on the back to gain favour with those in charge.
It would also help if he had a thicker voice than my 9 year old cousin Adriana.
Let's face it, a guy named "Nani" and a goalie with a squeaky voice don't exactly impose respect on anyone...
Ronaldo playing anything remotely close to what he does in england, or Quaresma having a good game for the first time in a year and a half would also help a bit.

how long does it take to be a portuguese citizen, maybe you could get Linz after all!
What about Guimares, they are mainly portuguese and have done well? Dont they have a striker?

There's something Addy must understand and fear: Scolari is tactically the biggest moron in the history of football. I'm serious. He can motivate players and that's it.
I still remember the Portugal-Spain game that Mourinho commented live on TV. Whenever Mourinho said "I would do x right now if I were Scolari because y is going to happen".
2 minutes later, y would happen (usually a certain change by Spain) and Scolari took about 10 minutes to notice each time. Over and over and over again for the whole game....

Ricardo is world class(not joking), Rui Patricio is good but it was good if they gave Eduardo(Setubal/Braga) a chance
CR7 will do nothing, because he is not paid to play at the national team
We should play without forwards, maybe we can score more goals, only Almeida is average(why not Djaló)
you can't possibly be serious. He makes Doblas look good. He drops one crossed ball out of every two.

I'm guessing you are a Sporting fan? Come on now, Ricardo is useless unless the English were playing...
