From a topic on another forum I've just realized 99% of americans are absolutely conviced that taxes in the EU are around 70% because countries with welfare, socialized medical care and cheap universities can't possibly charge any less.
It's funny.....except for the part where they call us liars for pointing out taxes here are 20%. Apparently they know how much we pay better than we do

Taxes in Denmark are way higher than 20%. |

In average, it's 47 % in Denmark. The world's highest.
You can't quite compare it, though. There's so many variables to take into account: consumer prices, wages, social security models etc. etc. |

My net salary is about 78 % of my raw salary. But with employer's taxes taken into account, it's about 50% taxes (I earn half of what my employer pays for me).
It's more or less the same for most jobs in France. Executives have a little more taxes though. |

8% of my salary goes to the IRS plus 12% goes to social security. That's it.
Suck it bitches

I didn't include taxes that I pay yearly (well, monthly now), based on everything I earn (only my wage in my case, but that could also be location fees I'd get, or stuff like that, well, any income). There I pay around 7%.
I'll emigrate to the Cayman Isles one of these days. |

Vary hugely in the UK, but nothing approaching 70%. Most start around 20% when including indirect taxation (e.g. VAT (sales tax for you north Americans)) as well as conventional direct taxation, going up to slightly over 50% but given we have the NHS, it's a price well worth paying

My family got an iPad, for god knows what reason, but anyway, I must say I am pleasantly surprised at how well the site works on it... |

Keep us updated on this. I want to see if they are any good. Although I know I'll never buy one. |

My friend has one, and it´s really useful to play games during boring lessons or watch Simpsons etc in free lessons. Other than that, i can´t see why one should need an iPad

There's absolutely no use of an iPad other than "well, I've paid a lot for this thing, I better use it for .. well, whatever."
Games during lessons? Quite a lot easier to hide what you're doing with a regular laptop, plus you can play better games. |

You don´t know our English-teacher and multiplayer-games are better one the iPad. And you can hide the iPad on your legs, but where to put a laptop?
But if there are laptops for every pupil in Denmark, you at least know where your taxes were paid for

So basically the only pro to the Ipad is that its flat and easier to hide from teachers in school/uni?
Edit: Make sure to get Dragon Search and Angry Birds, and VLC Player if you decide to put a stage or two on and don't care to convert it, as VLC plays pretty much anything.

Okay, I am pretty much guaranteed to get a new Computer, but the problem is I'm not really sure whats best.
I definately want a Windows computer, but which of the 3 is better? XP, Vista or Windows 7? And which would be best for PCM? Any specific recommendations?
Also what is the best graphics card company in your opinion? I need lots of help with this as I only really know one graphics card company. And what is that one graphics card that doesn't really work well with PCM10?
Thanks. |

I just randomly realized 2011 is going to be by far the best year ever for gaming (PC mostly).
Elder Scrolls 5
Crysis 2
Diablo 3
Doom 4
Max Payne 3
Dragon Age 2
Metal Gear Solid Rising
Batman: Arkham City
Duke Nukem Forever
Portal 2 (wee bee booo....okay, enough with the Patton Oswalt references)
This could only somehow be better if there was a new fallout coming in 2011 (yes, I know, the last one came out a couple of months ago )

7

ATI > nVidia. However, PCM developers have made it in a way that it doesn't like ATIs and won't change it for some reason.

Thanks for the reply, and nice avatar you have there.
So maybe I should look for a high end nVidia or is ATI working better now with PCM10 after "that" patch (can't remember which one exactly). |

I wouldn't put any faith in Elder Scrolls 5 coming out this year. Bethesda (who I am trying to get a job or internship with next year) is known (quite like Valve) for delaying their games at least once, possibly more than that. With the late release date (I think it is November 11th or something like that) I wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed into early 2012.
Should also note that although it has been almost 5 years since Oblivion was released, Bethesda completely redesigned the engine for the Skyrim (by the way, why the fuck are they putting it in the Nordic region, they are my least favorite race), so it obviously took longer to make this game, i.e. the long development time doesn't necessarily mean it will be done by the announced date.

Irrelevant. ATI works with DirectX, DirectX works with PCM. If PCM works badly with DirectX (wouldn't be surprised) it would fuck up with Nvidia as well. Small differences in the frame rate, the propensity to get caught temporarily, and rendering smoothness/functionality can occur, but nothing major.

I'm not a tech pro, but it's a fact that PCM works better with Nvidia. |

Really looking forward to Diablo, Batman, Crysis and Dragon Age. Ow and you forgot Guild Wars 2 .
Btw, Duke Nukem has been expected for 10 years already, so don't get your hopes up .
