How very human. I think I've yet to meet people from a country where it's not common to go. "How very [name_of_same_country_as_person]. This [insert_normal_human_behaviour] only happens here. We're pathetic"

High horse? So, because the guy treats everyone like crap every time he doesn't win, and even when he does, we should accept it just because he's good?
That's an awesome life lesson: it's okay to be an ass to everyone if you're good at what you do. I never knew that. I have to go apologize to Cipollini, Armstrong, Bettini and all the other insufferable asses, as I now realize they had every right to treat people like shit just because thet were good riders.

Cav has always had an attitude.
He'll eventually grow up. |

Cav has always had an attitude. The day he "grows up" will be the day he can no longer win. Or want to win.
No, it's not right to have a shit attitude, but to win, and really win by a big margin you've got to have that "win, no matter what" attitude. It doesn't mix well with those of us in the world who see other things as more important. Say, like having friends or have people like us. The two don't mix. Maybe because winning means you're better than everyone else, and some people don't like feeling like second best....

I don't agree with that.
In every walk of life - and not just sport - some people win with class, some people don't.
Contador has his little rifle shot at the doubters, Cav sticks two fingers up. |

heh - Cav has only done the 2 fingered salute once.
And there has been a lot of crap written in the British press about Cavendish. The foreign press have been much more complimentary. Allow him this one F U.

There's a reason for that. For the vast majority of the world, that sign means "2nd win". Most people, myself included, were completely unaware it had any other meaning.
Until I looked at an internet forum and realized it wasn't what he meant...

The fact he put his other hand/am over his bicep as well is a double snub.

I ment prior to the salute.
British press were all "He's lost it"
Most foreign press i read were more along the lines of "He'll be in form later this year"

I like the bit of banter in those Cervello behind the scenes clips. In the one of last years tour the guys clearly don't like cav's attitude, but i'm sure he is a different person behind cameras. You can't be that good and not have some self doubt.
But anyway, its fun to hate English riders, and i'm with Hausler on this. To hell with CAV!! |

There are many people with big heads in Sport, and i'm sure every country has at least 1, probably more.

You seem to have forgotten British people crave disappointment. We like to moan

It's my hobby. My housemates continually discuss how, if I'm not moaning, I'm not happy. It's true.

Meanwhile in Spain...
Fabio Duarte smashes the competition with his team mate Alex Ardila Cano placing 2ns seconds later
The leader's group arrived around 1min later lead by Beñat Intxausti and Santi Perez.
Mosquera was the stage victim pulling in the group for most of the climb but was never able to make the difference...

Yeah, I didn't get Intxausti's race... So, he sees his lead go and, instead of chasing, stays on the back of the group throughout the climb and then attacks on the last km to gain a couple of seconds. Is he that confident that he can make a difference tomorrow?

Don't hava a link. Quite shocking it's not covered by Velonews og Cyclingnews. I watched it on German television. It was a great lead-out by Milram, they had three riders in the final breakaway. Terpstra and Knees led out Wegmann, who just held off Verheyen.
Julien Simon of Saur Sojasun tried to go solo at 8km remaining and nearly made it. He was caught inside the last two kilometers.
Top8 (all at the same time):
1. Fabian Wegmann - Milram
2. Geert Verheyen - Landbouwkrediet
3. Bert Scheirlinckx - Landbouwkrediet
4. Marco Marcato - Vacansoleil
5. Luca Mazzanti - Katyusha
6. Guillaume Levarlet - Saur Sojasun
7. Carlo Scognamiglio - ISD
8. Dirk Bellemakers - Landbouwkrediet |

The weather in the Tour de Romandie is very bad.

Agreed. That last push to the line did show he was saving energy throughout the climb to surprise everyone else on the group. Given that the colombians decided to attack earlier he should have taken things to his own hands at least in the final 3-5km. Still 19s isn't an undisputable margin so it'll hopefully be another great stage tomorrow.
..and nice Spilak won. He's been trying for a while now. I just hope Piti doesn't ruin things again tomorrow....
